We stayed at the Iconic Santorini for several days in early June 2015. Our room was small and literally a cave built into the side of the volcano that is Santorini, but well appointed, and as soon as we stepped outside the view was breathtaking. The amenities (Aesop creams etc) , linens, turn down service and little desserts left every night were greatly enjoyed and appreciated. We had a private pool that was neither warm nor cold, and was really for dunking not for swimming. Breakfast each morning was overlooking the magnificence that is Santorini. The best part of all is the service - attentive, friendly, always available and simply marvelous. Lunch and dinner, had by us in their small but beautiful restaurant overlooking the sea, (and of course the breakfast that was part of our package), was first rate. We had many opportunities to chat with the proprietor and manager, and their philosophy is - you pay a handsome sum for the room so we won't nickel and dime you on food, bottled water, etc. - and true to their word, they did not. This was a birthday trip so my husband and my friend, who was with us along with her husband also celebrating a special birthday, planned the trip with the assistance of a travel agent so I have no idea what we actually paid, but whatever it was - it was worth it! Gorgeous hotel and breath-taking views from every angle. A few notes - if you have any type of aversion to stairs, or if you have any physical issues that prevent you from going up and down steep, uneven stairs - this place is not for you. I feel for the guys who shouldered our luggage up and down a great many steep stairs in the hot sun. Our friends had a slightly bigger room and their "pool" was inside their room- it too was neither a hot tub nor a cold dunking pool, and they felt it was a waste and never used it. No actual swimming pools are allowed on the side of the cliffs of Santorini (they are "fountains") and the hotel had such a fountain that we went in several times- not to swim but to cool off. All in all- definitely recommend.

Iconic- an exceptional experience overlooking the caldera in Santorini. Vella and his team at Iconic are exceptional at ensuring your stay is most enjoyable and relaxing. The suites are very well appointed, very comfortable beds and your privacy is respected. We had our own plunge pool that was clean and temperature perfect to cool off. Dimitra and Angela always pleasant and on hand to assist with any enquiries. Breakfast was very enjoyable with chef Konstantin preparing his daily selection or you choosing what you wished for. Dinner and lunch also perfect with quality produce and daily menu. I highly recommend Iconic if you are looking for a special, relaxing and quality destination in Imerovigli Santorini. Caldera Suite is impressive with plunge pool.

Kalimera from the Cyclades,

Thanks so much for these kind words of praise!

One of the cornerstones of a stay at Iconic Santorini is providing our visiting friends with a true sense of welcome right from the onset.

It is very pleasing to know that you were able to fully relax during your visit, while taking in our warm Hellenic hospitality.

Good to hear that you liked the appointments in the Caldera Suite, as well as the sublime, caldera-facing jetted plunge pool and the sleep experience of a COCO-MAT 4-layer bed.

Chef Kostas is thankful for the recognition of our much-loved breakfast and his freshly-prepared daily menus, crafted with pride based on age-old family recipes.

The Iconic family is delighted that you had a memorable stay and many thanks again for sharing this highly-motivating review!

With best wishes,

Vella Ramasawmy

My husband and I stayed in a Cave Suite for a week in April. Our review is as follows:

ROOM
- lovely and spacious with 2 bathrooms. I was worried it would feel a bit dark but it was more beautiful and light in the flesh than the pictures gave the impression. Beware that the steps down to the 2nd lower bathroom are a little tricky if you have any mobility issues.
- I found the pillows hard. However, we were immediately supplied with additional soft pillows when we enquired after a pillows service. We were also supplied with additional blankets as I found the duvet too warm for the time of year - it felt like a 12 tog. The only minor feedback I would give to the hotel is that it would be helpful if additional bed spreads and blankets could be supplied in a larger size so that they cover the entire bed as the ones supplied didn’t really cover two people in a bed
- the terrace, views and hot tub for the Cave suite were absolutely lovely. Some suites feel more private than others and the Cave suite was one of those as it was tucked into a corner and therefore your neighbours didn’t need to pass your sunbed to gain access to their own suite. We also noticed walking around that not all hotels feel as private as the Iconic Santorini, especially if they are near the main tourist paths.

DINING
- Breakfast is served on your terrace. The time of year, the location of your room and the time at which you have breakfast will impact whether you get sun on your terrace. We didn’t have sun on our terrace until about 11am in April. You fill out a menu card the night before and pick a time slot. The food was extremely tasty, although in April it was sometimes chilly eating outside. A cloche would have been helpful to cover hot food and a teapot to keep tea warm. We found that our drinks and food cooled down too quickly outside at this time of year. There is an option for you to dine on the dining terrace but our understanding was that you still had to order your food and pick your time slot the night before. I would have liked to have had the choice to be able to turn up to breakfast in a restaurant when I want, pick my food on the morning and be able to wave down a waiter when I want an extra cup of coffee. Filling out forms and picking time slots does still feel a little like we are still living in covid rules.
- we had the dinner at the hotel restaurant on the first night. The food was very nice. There is a small room that has about 4 tables at the swimming pool level. On the night we had a table booked it was very windy and cold outside and not really suitable to eat out. I think the hotel could have pre-empted this and had some tables set up in the room as it wasn’t very inviting, despite the beautiful chandelier. There were 4 tables squashed into a small area - some with far too many chairs around them. One of the waiters had left a tray on a table and was charging his phone. The room would have looked so much nicer if someone had just put some candles on the tables, maybe had some wine glasses and place settings and also removed some of the clutter. We had a very lovely meal though and I liked the fact you could see the chefs at work.

SERVICE
- this is where the hotel really excelled. All of staff we came into contact with were extremely warm and friendly. They were extremely helpful at suggesting restaurants and booking excursions. We liked the little treats we found in our room at the end of each day and the bottle of wine we received on arrival and departure. There was fresh ice and water supplied free twice a day.

EXCURSIONS
- we would thoroughly recommend walking to Oia. We walked there and back 3 times. It takes about 4- 5 hours as a round trip depending on whether you walk to the far end of Oia. The views on the walk are amazing. Just make sure you take some comfortable trainers with a good grip. The walk is not suitable for sandles and flip flops.
- we would also recommend the wine tours that can be arranged through the hotel. We did the one with Greek food and ate out in Oia.

Arriving at Imerovigli you drive into a small parking area to get to the hotel and are whisked away with your cases before you know what is happening, they are so efficient, as you step down the first flight of steps then you see the view, wow, never ceased to amaze me, different every day, with boats and changes of light. Taxi costs 25 euros from airport. Our room was a traditional room, perfectly formed with a huge bed that was so comfy, like sleeping on a cloud and everything was kept soooo clean, the staff were so friendly and accommodating keeping everything perfect. The food was excellent and very reasonable at the hotel. Also dined at Anoti (pronounced anogi) just out the car park area and turn to left at supermarket walk up and its just before basketball court, best zucchini balls and calamari, loved all the food here, the house red was delicious also. Always packed but never had to wait more than 20 mins for a table if not booked and was given a glass of wine foc whilst waiting, nice touch. Helitopas wine restaurant is the best for the sunsets, go before 7.45 order your bottle of wine which is decanted for you by the lovely Freddie (always smiling) and have some nachos, yumm. We went to Amoudi at the foot of Oia to sunset restaurant but preferred Helitopas, the food at sunset was okay but the sea is quite breezy and found this to be the least favourite place, Anoti beating them on food but Helitopas on scenery and ambiance, Good trip to Perissa, seaside restaurant by Noto was great at end of beach more or less at Perivolas you can use their loungers on beach, then eat at restaurant, great food. Had the moussaka (it came on a tray, couldn't believe it was my portion). Akatiri (not sure of correct spelling) got taxi from hotel 30 euros it was very interesting seeing all the relics. Red beach is a hike would need a cable car to get back up and also bring beach shoes as its very stoney going into the water. Perissa is probably the best beach but staying at Imerovigli would definitely be my first choice again and the hotel iconic, it truly was an iconic holiday. Thanks to all the lovely staff with all their advice and friendly smiles, see you next time. Shopping at Thira was also very good, lots of lovely leather bags, shoes and jewellery shops to choose from, not mentioning the bars and restaurants (Argo was lovely) Santo winery was a great trip, bus from thira bus station 1.60 euros stopped outside winery, had the wine flight only 17 euros for snacks and 12 different wines (couldn't believe it was so cheap) as the wine was very nice ranging from white, rose, red to ports, really good quality wines and the scenery was stunning also, a lot of people go here to view the sunset while trying the wines. Loved it all, beautiful Santorini and the perfect Iconic hotel. Just wear good non slip shoes (trainers during the day for exploring) 15 mins downhill to thira 50 mins back uphill and a very red face, its a no heels holiday.

We travel all of the time and staying at Iconic Santorini was the first time in ages that we actually escaped. From the moment we were greeted by the friendly staff we were made to feel at home. Everything was effortless, from being asked our choices for breakfast, to making arrangements for a meal at a local taverna and the little treat from the chef in the evening with a quote from Aesop. The very nice bath amenities were from Aesop and we learned the amazing beds were all-natural from a Greek company named COCO-Mat. We enjoyed the attentive service, the little pool in our room, great massages in the spa, the constantly changing views and some really good food. We can’t wait to come back again.
