Staying with Siviadys, Yoedy, Silvia and their kids was a beautiful experience in a beautiful small town. Very caring, very attentive and very warm hosts. The friendliest town I have ever visited in any country. The room is good with two beds, bathroom etc.--everything you need. The house has a great front porch to enjoy some of the friends and family who stop by to chat on the quiet street. The meals were the best I've had in Cuba because they were so fresh and made with personal touches. Fresh fish right from the sea 50 meters away. The dining patio was beautiful, under a shaded roof and surrounded by cosy little gardens and hanging plants. If you are looking for a busy town with lots of nightlife, restaurants and shops, this is not your place. If you are looking for a real town where people live and work, to get to know life in Cuba, it's a perfect spot. Everywhere you walk in this town people will share friendly greetings.

We absolutely LOVED staying at Siviady's place. The room was clean and comfortable, there was a fan and a/c unit in the room. The room has a lock on it so you know your belongings are safe while you are away. A taxi to Vinales will cost you 25 CUC, so I would recommend staying local and checking out what Puerta Esperanza has to offer. We decided to stay local and explore the area rather than go to Vinales. We are really glad that we did! We rode the community bus to Santa Lucia for 15 CUC. Santa Lucia is a beautiful beach with crystal clear waters, a must-see! Another day we took a horse and carriage to see the landscape. We ate fruits from the trees, swam in the ocean where we were provided with a scuba mask to see the starfish and sea urchins below! We also met local farmers, one of which rolled cigars for us. Siviady's organized everything for us, which was very helpful as most people speak Spanish and not English. She is an amazing cook and her family is very nice. We were so sad to leave!

We really loved this place and especially Siviadys the host of El Pescador who made us feel as if we were a part of the family! The fresh food (seafood and fish, fruits, great breakfast) and drinks were the best we had in Cuba and she even organised a day trip for us! We appreciated the calm but still lively athmosphere of Puerto Esperanza in contrast to the very touristic Havanna and Viñales!

We met Siviadys in the local disco. She was the host of other tourists we got to know before and she just invited us over for coffee the next day. Eventually we ended up spending almost two days with her and her family. She taught us to dance Salsa which was a lot of fun. Even though neither of us spoke the other one's language well, we always had a lot to talk about. We felt warmly welcome by the whole family. Wish Casa El Pescador would have been our homestay! Muchas gracias Siviadys por el clase de bailar! Vamos a recordar tú por siempre. <3

What a warm and friendly welcome! Sylvie, our host, and her family, made us immediately feel at home. We spent a enjoyable evening walking on the pier, spent a wonderful night and were greeted next morning with a generous and tasty breakfast. Highly recommended.

If you are looking for a taste of real Cuban life without the tourism then this is a wonderful place to visit.  We felt so lucky to find Siviadys, her family and home when we arrived. They went above and beyond to make our stay with them and to explore the surrounding area the most memorable of our holiday in Cuba. We weren't sure what we were going to find here as there wasn't a lot of information about Puerto Esperanza, apart from it not being a tourist destination, which immediately attracted us.  So we took a taxi from Viñales to explore for the day (25 CUC).  We found the Casa El Pescador, Siviadys and family and asked for a room for 1 night.  We loved it here so much that we ended up staying with them for 4 nights.  Our air conditioned room and ensuite facilities were good, clean and just what we needed. Our casa Mama took us on a great day trip.  1st we walked through the countryside up to the top of a hill with great views of the Viñales Mogotes.  Then we walked through mangroves to swim in the sea. After that she introduced us to two lovely families. The 1st family gave us fresh coconut water to drink and vegetables (from their farm) for our evening meal. The other family took us home to the casa (5km) in their horse and cart. There are more "coche de caballo" than cars around here.  This was a wonderful day out, which we would not have been able to experience without Siviadys taking us to explore the local area and meet with these families. Since this is not part of the usual tourist route, it was the best value for money.  Not just for the room, the breakfast and the evening meals were also amazing  e.g. freshly caught red snapper one day and lobster the next, more than you could eat and much cheaper than anywhere else we experienced in Cuba. We became friends with my limited Spanish and their limited English.  Other guests who have stayed before (and spoke no Spanish) have also extended their visit from 1 day to 2, 3, 4 or more. This is because Siviadys, her family and Puerto Esperanza are magical experiences and it felt like a taste of real Cuba.  There are a couple of bars and 1 restaurant in the town.  Expect a really friendly welcome from everyone.   We took the local bus back to Viñales (1CUC each), which was a fun experience in itself.  So when you are in Viñales and the tourist board say there is no bus to Puerto Esperanza, ask them about the local bus and don't believe them if they say it is for local people only.  It's very busy but it is for everyone. Thank you Siviadys, Silvia and family. We look forward to visiting you again someday.

We enjoyed so much staying in this charming casa, with its lively hosts siviadis and her mother. Great hospitality, excellent food and fresh fish (well sivi’s husband is a fisherman, and the casa is called “el pescador”) and a great quiet location by the sea in a small quaint fishermen’s village not too far from Vinales. Highly recommended stop to relax and recharge. Siviadis is a lovely host, friendly and helpful. I’ll be back!

I just have god thing to say about Casa El Pescardor, If you wanna be treated like part of the family this is place to be, very warm people and they will do anything to make sure you are please, this is house is well located close to the ocean, on a very quiet neighborhood, close to everything, this town is for you if you want to see the real cuba and live like on of them. Make sure that you ask for the barbecue cuban style red sniper Jorge M.

I looked for a place to stay some relaxed days out of the stress of the more touristic places. That is what i found in puerto esperanza. At the casa particulat "el pescador" I had a wonderful time with Silvi and her lovely familiy. It felt more like visiting some friends instead of staying in a bed and breakfast. Great place, lovely people and good food (especially the fish)!

Very nice place to stay some days enjoying the place, rest at the beach, discover the nature, ride a horse ... I was in Viñales and wanted to see the sea. I took a bus to go to Puerto Esperanza instead of doing the touristic trip (much more expensive.) Moreover, in this village, you can discover the real Cuban atmospher, far from the touristic activities and closer with the cuban people. Also, Siviadys is very a nice person and she cooks fresh food and fish, freshly catched by her husband :-) Delicious !! The place is totally clean and comfortable. Don't hesitate to go there, you will enjoy it :-) Gracias por todo Sivi !!
