Been coming to Turks & have stayed at The SANDS for past 12 years. The Sands at Grace Bay is without question the best place to stay when you're in Turks. No hotels on either side of The Sands so you have beach privacy. Staff are fabulous and always looking to help you out. The food at Hemingway's is very good. Both pools are very well situated and the access to the beach is short and easy to access. Great value. RENT a car from the airport.
This is our first trip to the island, and are so happy we selected the Sands at Grace Bay, we have a 2 bedroom ocean front and the views are absolutely stunning. The beds are comfortable and the patio is huge and furniture so cozy. The pools are beautiful and beach and attendants are all so friendly. Hemingway’s is delicious, with a perfect beach view. Also have tennis and bikes, it is peaceful and beautiful and they are handling COVID protocol very well.
The Sands is a great place but some units need some remodeling. I always stay here and I feel right at home. But if you are planing a trip beware of the new rules due to COVID-19. You must have a COVID-19 negative test result done within 72 hours prior to arrival. In the US, it’s impossible to get results that quickly. In addition, you must have insurance that will cover a COVID-19 extraction from the island. Then you must fill out a Heath questionnaire before arrival. They call it TCI ASSURED. I had reservations for 7/26–8/3. Return flight was cancelled recently. So make sure you get insurance and can get your money back. Sadly, I was forced to cancel for all those reasons mentioned above . The Sands has waved any cancellations fees and will refund me the deposit amount. Thanks ! I will return once this plague is over and enjoy the Sands and the most beautiful beach in the world: Grace Bay!…
We booked the studio suite after seeing the photos on the website. Much to our surprise, the room was so run down and the bathroom was disgusting, The furniture was chipped and/ or broken. Not what we expected at al for $500 a night. We requested to change the room but the hotel was fully occupied. They informed us that the units are privately owned so some are renovated and some are not. We met another couple that was in a studio and had the same experience. If it was renovated, the size and layout of the room is perfect for a couple. Our friends were in a one bedroom and it was very nice. The beach is fabulous and having a restaurant on the beach was great!
We stayed the week before the island shut down due to COVID-19. We had an oceanfront suite and were in building 3 on the 3rd floor. Upon arrival they had a bottle of champagne waiting for our anniversary. The room had a nice patio with awesome oceanfront views. We had a king bed and the room was attached to a one bedroom oceanfront deluxe that we were able to tour. We will definitely stay in that room if available for our next visit. Housekeeping services were excellent. The staff was friendly and beach staff attentive. I would say it was only 30-40% occupied which was eerie. The Tuesday manager reception was on St. Patrick’s Day. They even had green beer and necklaces. By our last day the beach was deserted. But beautiful. We ate at Hemingway’s a few times and it was good each time. We only went to town once because we were trying to social distance. Our friends did bike to town a few times and they replaced old bikes with new which was greatly needed. We ate at Bay Bistro and the Somerset as well. Both very good and restaurants empty. We enjoyed our annual visit but it would have been more enjoyable without the worry of the pandemic. We will be back!…
