We stopped in Havelock for their famous green lipped mussels but there was so much more to see. The lodge has mix of shared facility rooms and a self contained apartment. We stayed in the latter. The room has a great view (first pic)and is big enough for four people with a spa bath and kitchenette. There is a small... More

Very nice and quiet lodge on the main street of Havelock. Close to town but then again town is not very big! This is an older home converted into a lodge but is quite nice and comfortable. The kitchen is nice and clean and the common area comfortable. Good place to stay!

My husband and I stayed here during our last night on the south island. Our room was clean and modern, but as others stated, there weren't many outlets and one does have to go to the main house to use the bathrooms, which were clean and modern. We enjoyed hiking up to see the glow worms.

I ended up in Havelock while heading to more well known Nelson and Abel Tasman. Initially I had planned on just staying for one night and moving on but in the end I was won over by the kindness shown to me by the owners and their immense knowledge of the local area. Overall I spent roughly 2 months in... More

Last night we spent 100$ for cabin with washroom in the centre of Christchurch. Today we spend 100$ for bad smelling box in Havelock without even a table&chairs! We are so disappointed! There is just one poor bulb in the room and only one socket in the wall so our cell phones and tablet during charging are hanging on it's... More

make it possible could be the slogan of blue moon lodge. when we (2 parents and toddler) arrived over new year, the place was pretty much booked out. here a bed free and there, but that does not fit for a toddler. over the next three day the owners and very helpful apprentice Sophie rearranged backpackers, so we could have... Stayed in a double (without ensuite). Quiet, comfy beds, lovely towels and good quality toiletries awaiting us (not what we expected at a backpackers!). Great hot showers - clean with plenty of pressure to get all the biking dirt off. Friendly helpful owner with loads of advice and suggestions for our trip. Really well equipped kitchen, free tea and coffee,... More

We stayed 3 nights at the Blue Moon Lodge, and we just loved it. The Lodge is very clean and tidy and the Hosts Shane&Asha are absolutely lovely. No matter what, they are happy to help wherever they can. We also did the Kajak-Tour with Shane and that was great fun. :-) So, thanks a lot again for the great... More

Shane and Asha, the owners, made us feel very much at home in our double ensuite room on the first floor of the hostel. They booked the green shell mussel cruise (highly recommended) for us and we also enjoyed an inflatable kayak tour down the Wakamarina River. Shane and Phil were our guides down the river which was an awesome... More
