We had a long weekend in this hotel and used it as a base to get around this part of Northumberland. We had passed through Warkworth before and liked the look of it. The village has a lively main street with alleyways leading to riverside walks and to the impressive castle which dominates the area. We were relieved to find that entry to the car park was from the rear and not the narrow archway to the front. The car park is small but we managed to secure a space on two nights of the three. On the other night we parked 50 metres or so away in the free public parking.
The hotel is meticulously organised for Covid with a one way system, ample sanitiser points, masks or visors worn by staff and proper management of the bar and dining areas.
Our room was spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable with proper reading lights. The bathroom was also immaculate. Our only minor issues were a small number of coat hangers and inconsistent wifi signal. There was a table and chair just outside the room however where the signal was fine.
The breakfasts were table service pre-booked and I particularly enjoyed the eggs Benedict. We ate dinner one night and there is a good choice of food and drinks at very reasonable prices. We were slightly apprehensive about it being a 'dog friendly' establishment but the dogs and owners are allocated a separate dining room. The dogs were actually all very well behaved!
The staff without exception were thoroughly helpful, efficient and friendly, even booking a taxi for us to get to a restaurant in Amble one night.
I would recommend the hotel without reservation and it's very well placed for attractions such as Bamburgh Castle, Alnwick Castle and Garden, Howick gardens, Alnmouth, Craster, Dunstanburgh and many other nice places.

We have just returned from a really lovely weekend in Warkworth. The location is outstanding with easy walking through the picturesque town, by the river or to the stunning beach. We'd originally chosen the hotel due to their claim to being dog friendly. We've often been let down by hotels making this claim but setting so many rules that it makes having a dog with you
more of a hassle than pleasure. This was not the case at Warkworth House Hotel however and our dog was thoroughly spoiled. I think the thing that really makes this hotel however is the staff whose customer service skills were exceptional. The girl on the front desk on our arrival this Friday was particularly friendly and made us feel very welcome. It's also worth mentioning that it was evident throughout our time there that the hotel was trying hard to make our stay as Covid-safe as possible. We'd thoroughly recommend.

Having been in lockdown for months it was lovely to be able to get away to the Warkworth House Hotel as the reviews of the hotel were very good. Sadly we could only get one night as the hotel was fully booked.

We choose the only room available, which was a superior room.

Due to Covid-19 procedures the check-in was quite late at 17:00hrs, but on arrival were given our keys and a sheet of paper to pre-order your breakfast, which had to be handed into reception at 21:00hrs.. The room faced onto the main street and was beautifully decorated with a King size bed. It had a nice big sofa which was lovey to sit on when watching the TV. The bathroom was clean and had fantastic towels and good water pressure. There was some traffic noise in the morning as its quite a busy road, but it did not detract from our stay.

The hotel is operating a one way system where possible and customers are asked to wear face masks in the corridors, plus there are numerous sanitising stations throughout the hotel.

We didn’t eat dinner in the hotel, The dining room has the table very well spaced so you are not near other diners. On arrival in the morning we were shown to a table and our ordered goods were brought to the table. The food was excellent.

As already mentioned we couldn’t get 2 consecutive nights on this occasion but we will definitely go back as the hotel is lovely and the area is beautiful.

After staying at the hotel in April 2019 in Room 2 with our Cockapoo we just knew that we’d go back as it was an ideal hotel for us to celebrate my mother in laws 80th birthday so we booked for April 2020. Obviously we couldn’t go so we rebooked and spent 3 lovely nights there last week.
We stayed in Room 5 which has a separate lounge area which was really useful and my parents in law stayed in Room 8 which was lovely with a four poster bed (dogs are allowed in both rooms) and I confirm (for guests who do not have a dog) that neither have a ‘doggy odour’ and neither did Room 2 when we stayed in 2019. Both rooms had 2 dog bowls in a stand plus 2 throws/blankets.
We didn’t request that our rooms were serviced due to Covid-19 however the staff encouraged us to ask for clean towels, hot drink sachets, biscuits and bottles of water.
At the time of our stay we had to pre order breakfast the night before which included cereal, fruit juices, fruit salad, prunes, grapefruit, yoghurt, toast, eggs benedict, salmon and scrambled eggs and the usual ‘cooked breakfast’ being available plus variations, ie I asked for a bacon, mushroom and tomato sandwich. If June is cooking then her scrambled eggs are delicious (made with cream 😳) so not for those watching their waistlines!
The 4 of us ate dinner on our first night and as my parents in law don’t eat much, they shared the lamb shank (I had a full one and it was delicious)! They shared the fish and chips the following night whereas we ate in one of the pubs (as we did on the last night). The portions are big so we couldn’t eat desserts. It was lovely to sit in the bar afterwards playing cards and having a few drinks.
My father in law wasn’t feeling well on our last full day so they decided to stay in the hotel whilst we went out. We can’t thank the amazing staff enough as they ensured that he was ok and offered to make him toast etc.
All of the staff made a fuss of our dog as they did all of the others. It really is a Dog Friendly place!!
Thank you Joanne and Sharon and all the others who’s names escape me for a lovely 3 night summer staycation from the 4 of us (plus Daisy 🐶)!!
We will be back to Warkworth House Hotel ASAP!!

Dear P9938AZsharonr, Wow! What an absolutely brilliant review. I am so pleased that you all had a wonderful and relaxing time away, especially Daisy! I am glad to read that you found the rooms to your liking and that the team here at the hotel continued to work hard and provide excellent customer service. Its something that we really strive for here so reviews like this let us know we are on the right track. I will be sure to tell June that you enjoyed her breakfasts, I am sure she will be very happy, she may perhaps sneak an extra sausage for someone else next time your visiting us too! I am glad that you enjoyed the food when you dined with us and happy that your parents enjoyed it too. We are more than happy to accommodate people and their dietary requirements. I will be sure to pass on all your well wishes and thanks to the whole team here at the hotel and we look forward to seeing you again very soon. Kind Regards, Sam

Lovely comfortable room & friendly helpful staff.
We stayed in ‘Superior Double Suite’ which was well provisioned, very comfortably furnished with a really excellent bed. The spotless bathroom had towels & robes were soft and lovely to use.
Our dog was made welcome with food & water bowls, a towel, a fleece blanket and a chew treat (a walk by the river is only a two minute walk away).
The included breakfast was delicious and had plenty of variety (pastries, cereals, fruit, yoghurt and several cooked options - all of which was delicious).
The staff were all friendly and mist helpful.
Parking is limited (we were fortunate to get a space) but a public parking area is close by.
Definitely recommend this hotel & would stay here again anytime we visit Warkworth.

We visited for a weekend break in March 2020. The hotel is beautiful, rooms are clean and well equipped with everything you would need. We chose to have an evening meal in the hotel restaurant and the food was lovely, the menu was varied and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was included - cereal, fresh fruit, toast and a large selection of cooked options with tea, coffee or fruit juice.
The hotel staff were excellent, attentive and helpful.
This is a lovely hotel and we would definitely visit again.

Northumberland is great. Warkworth is picture postcard and this hotel just made the stay perfect.

My disabled mum loved her ground floor Bay windowed room...spacious, stylishly decorated and comfortable. We were upstairs (room8) which had a four poster (without drapes) and all we needed.

Neither room had views but this really didn't matter.

Staff were all warm and friendly in their welcome.

Breakfast warm options were wide(including vegetarian full traditional breakfast) with local kippers available.

Dinner was good (jam roly poly was a real rare treat)portion sizes generous and wine prices reasonable.

There were a few guests dogs in the dining room so don't come in smelling of cat.

Easy walks along the river by ancient bridge and tower or just through the unspoilt old village to the wonderful Castle(home to the famous Harry Hotspur) dominantly perched at the top of the High Street.

Chose this hotel after checking it catered for disabled visitors and has ground floor bedrooms with walk in shower cubicle. Hotel aware need grab rails in toilet and shower area. A plastic fold down seat under shower would be a real help also and attract more visitors with walking difficulties. Varied and extensive menu options for breakfast were great. Bacon was delicious! Sunday Lunch and evening meals also excellent. One drawback was limited parking available in the hotel courtyard and first come system operates. Bed comfortable and hot drink tea, coffee etc daily replenished. All in all, highly recommended.

Well , just returned from our Wedding Anniversary break and what can I say about the Warkworth House Hotel.

From the minute we arrived to the last second we left it was superb , meal on Friday evening was brilliant - a Rib Eye steak and Salmon that tasted Michelin standard. Breakfast was lovely with so many options to cater for everyone.

The room 5 was very comfortable for us 3 including Harley our adorable Cockapoo who felt really at home. The doggy extras like blankets , towel and bowls made it very easy to cater for our dog.

Sharon , Maddy and Megan including all the staff were very friendly and we cant wait to go back later this year ..

Thank you X

Took my elderly mother for her first outing since lockdown. The staff were very welcoming took our temperature and contact details on arrival.
Environment was very well set up for social distancing and staff all in masks.
Full menu choice including excellent vegetarian and vegan options and all 3 meals were exceptionally good. Hake with crayfish risotto, chicken & stilton crumble and leek and mushroom pie accompanied by reasonably priced bottle of OZ Shiraz.
Highly recommend this venue as there is a choice of seating to suit all from the bar, dog friendly dining room, restaurant and a conservatory.
