The car park was devoid of signs that parking was chargeable and it was owned by another entity. Of course a £60 fine arrives in the post with no help from the Swan, even to just increase awareness for future visitors.

Hi, There are 12 signs out the front of the building around the car parks and a parking meter located near the front door, so the car park is not devoid of signs. Unfortunately we do not run the car park and are not affiliated with Premier Park, so therfore unable to become involved in any disputes. The only advice we would be able to offer, is if you feel there has been an error, you can appeal, which I think. Instructions should be located on your letter from them. I do hope you manage to resolve the matter with Premier Park quickly. I am pleased however that your visit to us was pleasant and without issue. :)

Visited for the first time with my friend as it was a convenient location. It was evident from the beginning that the pub was understaffed. In fairness, both servers looked to be working very hard. The food was expensive for the quality. It’s not like me to leave food on my plate but unfortunately on this occasion I did. It was not something that I would wish to return to. I wasn’t going to write a review until both myself and my friend received a lovely letter in the post demanding payment of £100 for a car parking fine. Particularly lovely when I am moving house on the next day and cannot afford to pay these car park cowboys. Whilst the staff informed me there was signage, it was dark, I had never visited before and was concentrating on finding the right entrance with the construction outside and also I would never usually expect to pay parking for a pub. My friend didn’t notice and looking at other reviews I don’t believe I am the only one. My feedback to the pub - whilst I understand the car park is not owned by yourselves, please can you make the effort to inform your customers when they order\check in for their reservation that the car park is charged. Even if you just put a sticker on your tables. Anything!

This used to be such a wicked easy place to visit. Waiting for the train or just fancied a quick drink - this was ideal! Cut to current times and it is shocking. Under staffed, no obvious management. It took an hour for my friend to receive 2 drinks and a plate of ‘Mexican’ nachos. The nachos came with the cheese solidified where it had been sat for so long, a dollop of salsa and sour cream. When questioned on where the chilli was for these ‘Mexican’ nachos, she was told ‘oh that’s extra’. There were at least 7 tables still covered in empty plates and glasses which isn’t great in normal times but you had no choice but to sit at a dirty table. Just need more staff to account for the nice weather, the new table service and the fact that the garden is where people want to be and as they are the main pub with a garden management are clearly missing a trick.

Hi Amy, I appreciate your feedback and believe me being short staffed is something we are fully aware of, due to massive budget cuts from the brewery. All the staff pulled 50 to 80 hours last week and are working exceptionally hard. The assistant manager was behind the bar yesterday and covered kitchen breaks for most of the day along with 2 bar staff until 8pm. With the nachos, you get the chips, cheese and dips, you can purchase additionals such as extra cheese, chilli and extra jalapeños. I will feedback your concerns to head office, the labour cuts are something we are continously fighting. I apologise your visit fell below our usual pre covid standards. Regards

Beautiful pub, awful service and rude staff. Waited over 40 minutes for a bottle of beer and a pint, when questioning the staff, we were greeted with a VERY rude member of staff. If we hadn’t had to pay by an app I would have left. Honestly don’t waste your time and money here.

Hi, I appreciate your feedback, in all honesty, the staff find the recent reviews and feedback very demoralising after working exceptionally hard whilst being understaffed. Unfortunately budgets have been slashed by head office and despite my protests they are refusing to acknowledge we are understaffed. The staff are being pushed to breaking point, often having to effictively serve around 150 people with one or two staff, this of course causes inevitable delays. Whilst I fully agree, this is not the customers fault and not what you should expect having chosen to visit us, I would ask to please bare in mind, that person you are kicking off at may have just finished a 70 hour week with immense pressure and people moaning at them 24/7 and sometimes being damn right abusive if they haven't received a drink within 5 minutes. I am working hard to argue with the brewery against the drastic budget cuts and I hope you can bare with us during these incredibly difficult times. I can hand on heart say though, that none of my team are rude, especially beth who was on the bar yesterday, she is the most bubbly and outgoing person, I apologise if you interpreted her this way. I do hope we can welcome you again.

Apart from being an ideal location this pub needs to do some work. Staff are nice to your face but then can be heard talking about you to other staff. Drinks and food were often mixed up and be made to be the customers fault. Food is straight out of a microwave. One out of 3 meals didn’t even show up and was offered ‘bar snacks’ as the kitchen was shut, even though two of us had food. Everything is ordered by an Marston app website and you have to enter details every time you order. Drinks are overpriced and a rip off. Gin and lemonade is defined whether it’s an 4oz or 8oz splash even though it comes out of a tap. Gin and lemonade is about £6. Wine is disgusting. Rose and white. £4 bottle from Aldi is priced at £17. Shots are £3.50 and not even filled to the top. Such a shame.
