The Old Forge is a lovely bed and breakfast, about 2 miles from Silbury Hill and Avebury, and a short drive from Marlborough. The room was really nicely decorated, warm, with nice extra touches, like proper fresh milk in the fridge. Slept very well in a comfortable and large bed. Very friendly owners, and a superb cooked breakfast. Great value...

We enjoyed staying at The Old Forge. It's is perfectly located as a base for exploring the Avebury region. The room was very comfortable and our hosts were ever so helpful. Breakfasts were fabulous too! We had a family room upstairs with a gorgeous view of the countryside. We had enter our room via the main door but rooms available...

The old forge is located on a quiet road in a rather idillic area and not far from Avebury. Some rooms have a separate bathroom on the landing which may not be to taste however I had an en suite and it was lovely. The bed was comfortable and I had a good nights sleep. I would have preferred a...

We stayed here for one night on our way to Cornwall. The room was lovely but the only downside was that ours was one that had the bathroom on the landing. Breakfast the next morning was great. Good idea in pre-booking cooked items. It was a lovely place to stay and next time we will make sure we have an...

This was our third time staying at The Old Forge, on this occasion for our weeding anniversay and we simply loved it. It's like coming home for us as Laura and Leslie are such good hosts. Our room was upstairs in the main house with a separate, private, bathroom. The room was tastefully decorated and the bed large and very...

Sadly only spent one night here. A beautiful room, very clean. The setting is beautiful. The hosts were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very filling and of a great quality. Would recommend a short trip to the village to see the telephone box which is now a library.

The location and house were both beautiful. We stayed in a double room with our own bathroom at the end of the corridor. This was all fine, except we could hear the people talking in the room below us. Their voices were very clear and completely invaded our room. We knocked on their door but got no answer. Therefore we...

We are so terribly sorry you'd not enjoy your stay at The Old Forge & we appreciate the importance of a good nights sleep. The building is old and characterful & occasionally noisy guests can be a problem, which is why we provide ear plugs in the room to overcome this. I did indeed go to advise the other guests...

We've stayed at The Old Forge four times within the last two years. My wife and I have been traveling to Wales the past two summers and we always look for a place to stay and sleep off our jet-lag, stay a couple of nights to get ourselves "grounded" in the U.K. and then hit the road (and our trip,...

My cousin and I were travelling back to London and wanted to stay somewhere with character but not too far from where she needed to be the next day. This is definitely the place!! The Old Forge is near to Marlborough but there are tons of lovely, fun pubs nearby for a good meal. We had a lovely room with...

We stayed for 2 nights in the twin room downstairs - the beds were the most comfortable I have ever tried. The room was spotless and the facilities were excellent (small fridge in room supplied with fresh milk, huge shower, magazines, TV). The breakfasts were superb - delicious and lots of choice (try the blueberry pancakes). However the best thing...
