Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a shame, this place has unfortunately gone downhill since the Inn Collection have taken over. Came for a long weekend, the room was great but was not serviced for our second night. The evening meal was positively average and came without the promised samphire and capers. We sat in what used to be a lovely appointed ante room turned into a dining area which was actually nothing short of being a corridor for staff to access another dining area. Getting your shoulder bumped every time they passed . There’s not enough staff, the main cosy bar is unmanned and you have to go to the now main bar and queue (8 minutes to get a beer) . This used to be a Lakeland gem……sorry it’s no longer worth it🥴

Grossly Overpriced. NO WINDOWS , only a skylight with no blind @ all for £160 per night. Disgraceful. With the laundry next door and opposite the kitchen extractor. How dare they! This was the annex, adjoining rooms at least had windows, we assume at the same extortionate price.at the same price.

A lovely few days walking a couple of Wainwrights of which one started from the car park. Top marks for location. Sleep could have been better as room was above the kitchen. Food for both dinners was very good and excellent breakfasts.

My husband and I booked The Pheasant inn for a little get away. On our arrival staff friendly and good atmosphere. The location is ideal and plenty of walking nearby. Our only negative is the food, over priced and underwhelmed - food prices high for the actual quality of food! But overall we enjoyed our stay.

Very dog friendly pub with excellent accommodation. Traditional historic old charm with beamed ceilings and open fires. Great food. Excellent friendly staff Easy parking Strong WIFI Comfortable bed in spacious, tastefully decorated room and large shower in en-suite. Overall a reasonable price for such a good place in a great location - only downside was food and drink a little on the expensive side.

Absolutely lovely place - even though it has been updated it still retains a traditional atmosphere. We particularly liked the snug bar which was really cozy. It is in a great location with plenty of walks nearby. Highly recommended, especially with the winter deal which made it very good value for money.

We had a wonderfully decorated & spacious room with a super-king bed & gorgeous bathroom (room 5). Be prepared to order your food at the bar, dinner & breakfast. This lack of service detracted from the ambiance unfortunately.

The pub is beautiful and in a really pleasant spot. The food menu is very expensive however I thought it was going te be really good. It wasnt the burger was tiny and overcooked and served with a very small portion of chips. The salad in the bunb was brown !!
