Sandhills Farm is a lovely bed and breakfast establishment on a working farm adjacent to Bassenthwaite Lake and a 10 minute drive from Keswick. We were greeted on arrival with home made cakes and tea/coffee. The rooms are luxurious and the decor is first class. Helen was the perfect host and goes out of her way to ensure guests have a good stay.m and is very knowledgable about the area and best places to dine at. Everything is absolutely spotless with modern rooms and bathrooms, the room we stayed in had a large walk in shower - the shower was easy to use. Breakfast was first class with a large selection of cereals and fresh fruit and yoghurts. The crockery Helen uses is Denby and all matched - just one of the lovely touches that made our stay a lot more pleasurable and the home made biscuits (on our tea tray) were irresistible and replenished daily. We will definitely be staying here again and it is highly recommended.

Sandhills Farm is only a few minutes walk from Bassenthwaite Lake; an amazing location and a magical spot to watch the sun go down. Helen is a perfect host and goes out of her way to ensure guests have a good stay. Everything is spotless, modern bathrooms with lovely Arran toiletries. Breakfast was very good and the home made biscuits (on our tea tray) were irresistible. Very much hope to stay here again.

What a lovely find! Classic Lakeland location, between mountain and lake Sandhills is a working farm which was a brilliant added bonus for us. Our hostess Helen's welcome was warm and friendly, and the photos do not lie about the quality of the room - wonderfully comfortable and well furnished. Our weather was excellent, but had we needed to stay in, there was plenty of room to relax in. Cumbrian breakfast was an excellent start to the day, with lots of local/very local produce being used. We chose Sandhills simply as a a convenient place from which to visit two of our children and their families who were on holiday in the area. But being able to walk through sheep-filled pastureland surrounded by mountains to one of the bridgeheads of Celtic Christianity onto the mainland (long before it was called England) was a very special experience. The only downside I can think of is the pull-off onto the Keswick-Carlisle road - great care needed! We would go back in a heartbeat! Colin

My wife and I stayed at Sandhills Farm for two nights in the Limousin room and would highly recommend this B&B. The bed was comfy and the breakfast excellent. Lots of effort has been made to make sure everything is Covid-19 compliant which was very much appreciated. It is situated an easy drive from Keswick with it's restaurants and takeaways but offers a quiet location close to Bassenthwaite lake shore and the church of St Bega. A great location for the northern Lakes and we hope to return again soon. Thank you Helen!

-Peaceful farm based location - it’s a 2 hour walk from the door up Dodd if you’re looking for a nearby Wainwright -lots of parking space -Well appointed room with quality furniture and furnishings. I especially liked the heated bathroom floor- will have to come back in winter! The green emergency door light was a bit bright at night but I covered it. -Great breakfast, plus tea and cake treats on arrival. Covid precautions with sanitiser etc. The room was serviced but I suppose you could ask for this to not happen if you were concerned. All in all I would definitely stay again.
