Just returned from a lovely weeks holiday in Dalehead lodge on the edge of Bassenthwaite Lake . The lodge was very well equipped , with all the necessary equipment and cleaning products in the under sink cupboard including washing up liquid , dishwasher tablets , anti bac cleaners , j cloths tea towels oven gloves which was an added bonus , I brought all these with me but didn’t need to use them . The lodge was very clean , they obviously have very good cleaning staff well done to them all . Great fluffy big white bath and hand towels are also provided . We did find the king sized bed mattress rather hard for our comfort so we slept on a couple of surplus duvets to soften it but I appreciate it’s personal taste . The en suite in the king size master bedroom consists of a small shower and toilet which could do with replacing very old fashioned colour and the seat has been repaired with yellowing glue at its hinge which is rather unsightly . The small hand basin is in the bedroom and is very shallow for having a decent wash in . Plenty of storage space everywhere . During these times all instruction manuals have been removed so working out how to use the DVD player with the Tv was interesting, we managed it in the end . Likewise using the dishwasher . All took a little time to work out . Laminated instructions stuck on an inside door somewhere might prove useful . Lovely well maintained hot tub with excellent views but it wasn’t easy to get in , the steps inside the hot tub are over on the right hand side not by the outside steps so you have to balance rather to get in .
The whole site is in an excellent position by the lake and the grounds are well kept and quite quiet after 10 pm . A lot of nice peaceful walks by the edge of the lake with plenty of ducks and bird life around . We had a lovely time and would love to return again one day .

I've just recently stayed at Bassenthwaite Lakeside Lodges for a long weekend.
There was 4 of us (two couples) and we stayed in the Dalehead Lodge.
The Lodge is a large 3 bedroom with a huge hottub at the very end of the complex on the lakes edge.
Inside there is a large master with ensuite. A medium size double, a smaller twin bedroom and a large bathroom. All of which have lots of storage, comfy beds and lots of fresh fluffy towels.
The open plan kitchen/living area is light and airy with comfy sofa and chairs. There was 4 of us and a 2 seat sofa and 2 chairs, if there is more guests someone is going to have to use the dining chairs.
The lodge is very well stocked with every kind of utensil, cutlery, cups, glasses and an array of pots, pans and bowls etc. There is dishwasher tablets, squeezy liquid, cleaners and everything you need in a home away from home.
We checked in via phone and spoke to a lovely lady who directed us to our lodge where there was a welcome gift of prosecco, beers and chocolates which was a very nice welcome to the lodge. Soon after a gentleman came and showed us how to use the hot tub and general site rules.
The hottub is on a large patio with a large out site dining area and a gas bbq which was great on a sunny evening.
If you are looking at booking to stay here I'd highly recommend The Dalehead Lodge. The huge hottub has stunning views over the lake and is total peace with being the very end lodge (no passing traffic etc)
Will definitely return in the future.

Lovely location. Stunning views with the balcony facing the lake. Well furnished lodge, very spacious and dog friendly. On arrival we had fresh milk, teas and coffees, dog treats, a little blanket for our dog and a towel, wine, beer and chocolates. The reception staff were very helpful and polite, made quick arrangements for a late arrival and was very safe in terms of preventing covid spread all throughout. Well worth the money. Looking forward to coming back!

Just got back from a wonderful weekend break at Bassenthwaite lakeside lodges. Everything was perfect. The lodge was spotless and there were extra cleaning products in the kitchen. Definitely following COVID measures. Even the keys are pre sterilised and left in a sterile pouch. We stayed in Ambleside lodge which was right on the lake edge which was perfect for swimming and canoeing. The hot tub was great. The whole family enjoyed a relaxing weekend. Chris was very helpful - even recommended somewhere to pick up a afternoon tea for us all. We will definitely return again.

Stayed in dalehead lodge with 6 friends in March 2020. Quick and easy check in-fab being allowed to check in from 2pm rather than 4pm as other sites. Complementary bottle of prosecco was a nice touch.
Gorgeous views of lake from hot tub! Good sized hot tub for 6 of us.
Comfortable beds with plenty towels for everyone.
Spacious lounge but not enough seats for 6 people. Sofa only sat 3 and then 2 armchairs which meant one of us was always sat on floor. WiFi not the best kept dropping out.
Lodge tired looking could do with some TLC. Large water mark on wall under window sill in the smaller twin room from some sort of leak. Not very appealing puts you off staying in that room especially with it being such a small room.
En suite shower in main bedroom very poor only dribble of water therefore meant 6 people sharing one shower.
Lovely quiet location easily accessible for walks.
Hot tub is definitely crowning glory of this lodge however a little care and attention inside would definitely make it more appealing.

We stayed here in December as a party of 6 to celebrate a birthday. The lodge was very pleasant, it's no Centre Parcs but it's not Centre Parcs prices either - sharing the cost of a weekend between 6 people felt very reasonable! The snacks and drinks in the lodge were a nice touch, and the living room had a Christmas tree up :-) We had trouble working the oven and getting a patio door to open, but staff came straight out and were very helpful and friendly. We ventured into Keswick and local taxi company charged £15 for a mini bus each way. We look forward to booking again - our only issue was finding the place in the dark, look for the white house on the corner!!

What a fantastic week we have had at this place. The weather, the view, the accommodation, the people, everything was perfect. We stayed in Langdale and it was spotlessly clean. Fresh milk and a bottle of fizz was waiting for us on arrival.

The people who work at this site were very friendly, lovely lady in the main reception area - very friendly and the chap who came to make sure the hot tub was maintained every day was great too. The access to the lake is perfect and it felt at times that we had the whole lake to ourselves. I would love to come back here. Great for families, friends, young children, teens, dogs - everyone! Our dog had the best week of her life swimming in the lake for sticks. Thank you so much for a lovely half term week. Was so lovely to escape real life for a week

We have just arrived for our stay at Dalehead lodge and we are amazed with the quality of our lodge and the facilities here at Bassenthwaite.

Upon entering our lodge, the heating was set and the hot tub was ready to use. There were treats, blankets and food bowls all ready for our little dog and even a bottle of Prosecco for the adults!

Dalehead lodge is set in the perfect location overlooking the lake and feels very private and cosy.

Everywhere is clean and well looked after.

We are excited to spend the next few nights here. The attention to details is fantastic, there is even a small shop inside reception for food and drinks 😊

Just came back from a fantastic week at Bassenthwaite Lakeside Lodges and I cannot recommend the place enough. The lodges are superb, the location and views over the Lake are amazing and the staff are incredibly amenable and helpful. Chris and Wez went out of their way to make sure that the hot-tub on our lodge was repaired and working for when we arrived and kept checking on it every day to make sure everything was fine. This is great customer service from people who genuinely care about their customers. The location is a short drive (about 5 mins) from Keswick, but far enough to feel remote and peaceful. I would also definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a well equipped base for adventures in the surrounding area and beyond, which is pretty much what we used if for.

Booked the Dower House last April to celebrate our Ruby Wedding Anniversary and my 65th birthday with our daughter and son in law, son and wife and 2 grandchildren. The house is stunning, originally a farm house dating back to 1726, a large lounge with comfortable sofas and chairs, TV DVD player & wood burning fire. Plenty of DVD’s to watch, scrabble & puzzles to do if staying in. Games room with pool table & darts board too. Good sized well equipped kitchen, down stairs cloakroom & beautiful dining room which seats 10. Upstairs there were 4 double bedrooms, 2 on suite, a family bathroom with bath & rain shower, and a twin bedded bedroom. The beds were so comfortable, and the towels were soft and Snow White.
Outside is the best hot tub I have ever been in, seats 10, it was fabulous. Swings & slide & seating area at the front of the house looking towards Bassenthwaite Lake. It was so peaceful.

We were very sorry to leave this beautiful old house, I would have happily stayed there self isolating throughout the duration of this horrible virus.

Unfortunately, but understandably, due to covid-19, we were asked to leave on our 4th of 7 booked days. The staff were amazing, and I would like to thank Chris & her staff for being so kind, and hopefully we can return to finish our holiday when this is all over. Stay safe & thank you

Hi good morning sorry for the delay in reply. There is a place in Keswick....keswick mountain bike hire. 01768775202 Some of our clients have hired from them and have had really nice comments or there is the EVenture electric assisted bikes which seem popular 01768721920.
