Link House is a late Victorian Country Guest House, situated on the edge of Bassenthwaite Lake, near the Cumbrian towns of Keswick and Cockermouth, with stunning views of both forests and fells. Traditionally built in the late Victorian age, this country house enjoys stunning views of the forest and surrounding fells including Skiddaw. The sunny aspect gives a warm and comfortable atmosphere in which to relax and feel at home. We are situated almost half-way between the towns of Keswick and Cockermouth, birthplace of William Wordsworth and the oldest town in Cumbria, just off the A66 at the northern tip of Bassenthwaite Lake. Link House is easy to find. In the quieter part of the Lake District National Park, yet with access to many interesting places to visit such as the Whinlatter Visitor Centre where the Ospreys who nest nearby each year, can be viewed. A peaceful location for the serious walker or for touring by car or bike. We also have a guest lounge for guests to enjoy. News May 2022 We are delighted to announce that our one bedroom self catering unit - Link House Cottage - is almost ready for launch! Sleeping 2 with either a twin or super king size bedroom en-suite, we can also accommodate up to 2 medium size dogs and is perfect for you to enjoy all the walking routes and local attractions that are in the area! With it’s own entrance there is also a private secure garden for you to enjoy. Please contact us for more information!

It was an absolute pleasure staying at the Link House. Pete and Katie were warm, welcoming and overall lovely hosts. Our room was clean, the decor beautiful and the ambience cozy. We had great views from our room window and enjoyed sitting there in the evenings with our tea and hot chocolate. Breakfast was both delicious and plentiful with a large variety to choose from. Pete also helped plan our day and thanks to him we got to see some breathtaking views. Thank you Pete and Katie for a wonderful weekend and we hope to stay with you again in the future. Wishing you all the best!

Thank you so much for your lovely review. It was a real pleasure to meet you both and so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. The hills at the moment look fantastic with their Winter covering of snow but we in the Northern Lakes seem to have missed all the low level snow that has hit the Southern Lakes so far. We hope we have the pleasure of your company again in 2024 and until then wish you both all the best for the New Year. Best wishes, Pete & Katie.

Warm welcome from Pete and Katie who were very accommodating and helpful. Lovely comfortable room with everything you need. Fresh milk provided for your room and an extensive breakfast menu on offer. Small nature reserve opposite for a warm up leg stretch before taking on the more testing walks around the lakes and fens, with the pheasant pub also within walking distance. Ideally located off the A66 for access to Keswick and beyond I found this a perfect base to start my exploration. I look forward to a return visit.

Excellent location with a most accommodating couple (Pete and Katie) who go out of their way to provide a hearty breakfast and provide ideas about tings to enjoy in their part of the Lake District. Easy parking, and meals are available at Pheasant Inn which is 8 mins walk away, but requires early booking.

Link House is situated in a beautiful area and we had bedrooms at the front of the house with fantastic views across Skiddaw. The owners, Pete & Kattie, are most welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. They served a very good choice of breakfast and were even able to organise four beautiful fine days while we were there!

Had the loveliest time here. Katie and Peters are wonderful hosts and truly can’t do enough to help. The accommodation was just perfect everything we needed for our holiday was provided, the room we stayed in was lovely, overlooking beautiful views and would definitely go back. We had a delicious breakfasts every morning and felt very spoilt. We have stayed many times in this area but this is by far the nicest place with the nicest hosts and definitely good value for money. We were made to feel very welcome by such genuinely lovely people who went the extra mile to make sure our stay was a good one.

A very comfortable stay that started with a warm greeting. Great breakfasts and packed lunches too. Everything that we had hoped for. The location was perfect in that it was within walking distance of one pub and a short drive to others. It was also possible to walk to a local Nature Reserve and to Bassenthwaite lake too.

Weekend break at this lovely up-market B&B. Tasteful furnishings and decoration throughout property, lovely room with very comfy bed - had a great sleep - and breakfast was cooked to order and delicious. Fantastic, friendly, helpful hosts with a good sense of humour too! Made to feel welcome from the minute we arrived. Will definitely stay again and highly recommend.
