Ravenstone Lodge (sister hotel to Ravenstone Manor) is a converted 19th Century stables & lodge with many original features including the stables themselves which are now the bar. Situated at the foot of Ullock Pike close to Skiddaw with views towards Bassenthwaite Lake and the Northern Fells we are perfectly positioned to explore the Northern Lake District. Ravenstone Lodge is a privately small hotel with just 9 bedrooms and because of this we can provide a uniquely personal service and when you stay with us you are not just a room number but are our guests in the true meaning of the word. Because of this many return time and time again, maybe requesting their favourite room or that a particular dish be put on the menu. Food is very important to us and our philosophy is very simple, top quality locally sourced ingredients cooked to order by our resident chef with sufficient choice to satisfy all tastes. We look forward to welcoming you to Ravenstone Lodge.

A wonderful find in the Lakes. From the warm and friendly welcome, the comfortable, homely and well appointed room, to the fantastic food, this is an absolute gem. We were greeted by Nick, who instantly made us feel welcome and part of the family. Later we met Sue, who was equally welcoming. In fact all the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. We ate in the Stable Bar & Bistro all three nights, which is a wonderfully restored stable which tastefully retains all its features, but were able to choose from both the Coach House and Stable Bistro menus, both of which offer an excellent range of tasty dishes, all reasonably priced and delicious homemade bread. A well stocked bar includes local beer and Lakes Distillery products. The location is within easy reach of Keswick, also served by buses and many local walks straight out the door. A bonus was the availability of free onsite EV charging. Highly recommended. We will definitely return.

We stayed here for 3 nights in August and I can describe it simply as faultless! Location is stunning , the service is fabulous !! And that is really what makes this place. We were greeted by Brett who truly welcomed us with what could only be described as 5star service! We were taken to our room which was beautiful, the bathroom had toiletries , top quality towels , raised bath, open walk in shower as well as a huge heated towel rail and bath robes. For an official 3 star rated hotel we couldn’t believe the facilities and service.

Tea and coffee facilities in the room as well as home made cookies! A really lovely touch! And fresh milk not the awful cartons of UHT milk.

Mike the owner is so friendly and makes you feel so very welcome, we enjoyed chatting to him and his passion for the place really comes across.

We enjoyed drinks from the bar each evening out on the terrace when weather permitted and we played cards / dominos / chess in the conservatory with our daughter when it rained. It felt so comfortable.

The chefs serve beautiful food, (as well as being really friendly)we loved the food so much! My husband claims the fish and chips to be the best he’s ever eaten ! They are serving freshly made and beautifully presented food. The environment is so relaxed , if you’re in a hurry it may be an issue but we were not and for us, should it have been any different it would have spoiled our evening so it was perfect.

The waiting staff work so hard and are so very very nice! All three , Demi, Danni and Andrea ! So personable and friendly nothing was ever to much trouble.

Breakfast was delicious , again at a relaxed pace but that worked well for us , we were not in a hurry and the food is cooked fresh to order so is worth waiting for.

I can’t praise highly enough and we’ll certainly return. Exceeded our expectations!!

Our Third visit here and we love this place. The owners warm hospitality and the staff being very polite and helpful make this place a joy to be in. We will definitely be visiting again this year.
There are loads of walks on the doorstep of varying difficulty to suit everyone.
The food is very good quality, big compliments to the chef as he is consistently producing amazing food.
A real personal touch here making you feel like "not just another customer".
The rooms are clean and well stocked (amazing cookies!)
They have coped really well with the COVID 19 situation and provide hand sanitizer throughout the hotel and are very respectful of their guests needs.

Can't wait to go back for another well earned break.

We spent a long weekend Friday to Monday at this great establishment, normally we would stay in central Keswick when visiting the lakes but we saw this on Booking.com and thought we would give it a try (actually we booked direct and got a 10% discount)

Only a 10minute drive from Keswick it was a great location with a small wood/forest adjacent that allowed an evening run along well used footpaths

We had a premium double no8 which although slightly small was lovely with a large shower room (the biscuit were a nice touch)

Breakfast was the typical hotel affair, cooked, various vegetarian, toast, poached eggs etc..etc all well cooked and of a good quality. I’m a Big eater before a full day on the hills and I was satisfied and ready to go!

We ate 2 evening meals, the Friday we precooked before leaving home, the Saturday we planned on eating in Keswick but could not find a table anywhere so we went back to the hotel and although fully booked they managed to squeeze us in (thank you) again a good quality meal that you would expect of a hotel of this quality.

This will be our hotel of choice now when visiting the lakes to be honest next time we will book more in advanced to get the bigger rooms but the small room was our own fault it was all the had left.... but still a very nice room.

Ps; the staff were great

Thank you Henry & Paula

We arrived at this place by chance on 24th November 2021 after we decided to leave Scotland a day early after spending time in the brilliant Caledonian Hotel in Fort William and then a short stay in Morar. We arrived in Keswick in the early evening looking for somewhere to stay. We checked out Booking.com and read the review for this place and it was a 9.1
So we rocked up to the hotel and was greeted by Peter (what a kind a friendly bloke is was). The welcome was warm and we immediately felt at home comfortable in our new surroundings. Peter also offered to take our bags up to our room. Nothing was too much for him. The food was excellent, from the homemade granola and the “made on site” ‘Hot’ blueberry muffins at breakfast and the huge choice of breakfasts was a big surprise too. The evening meals were Michelin standard made by the very talented and friendly chef Andy. Peter made sure we never carried our drinks from and to our dining table from the cosy conservatory style relaxing area where the guest relaxed before and after their evening meal. The bar was well stocked with every drink imaginable including there very own (made on site) and extremely tasty Gin, made by the owner Mike (who is also a very warm, engaging and welcoming gentleman). We are already planning our next trip here in May 2022 and hope to meet up with our new friends again. The whole staff and in particular Peter were brilliant. We ended up staying there two nights and for what we had in way of comfort, food and drinks plus the staffs company was absolutely well worth the cost. Which wasn’t that bad actually!

We stayed for 5 nights during Covid in October 2020. We stayed in Room 9 which is the largest and in hindsight would be the one to have if staying longer than a couple of nights - large room and bed, double aspect windows and great views of the fells. Mike the owner is very personable and friendly. The food is very good if not exceptional, but for a 3 star hotel I doubt you would find better. Breakfast is plentiful and varied. Covid obviously curtailed sitting at the bar but there was always staff about ready to get you a drink and bring it to where you were sitting. Taxi to and from Keswick is easy and around £10 - 12 depending on time and you can book your own or ask the staff to do it for you. Slightly on the expensive side but it is Covid and we have found everywhere in the UK is booked up so prices will be high until we get back to normal. All in all a very nice stay and we would recommend this hotel especially for walkers.

This is one amazing find.
We arrived at the lodge to find plenty car parking spaces.
We were welcomed as soon as we walked through the door.
The gentleman explained everything to us about the place showing us the restaurant and bar in what we're stables.
The homely conservatory and prestige dinning room with its snow white table cloths looked amazing.
Our room overlooked the garden and fells and was spotlessly clean and bright. Room 8.
The bathroom was adequate and clean.
We spent the afternoon in the conservatory meeting guests and relaxing with a drink. The gin was AMAZING. We'll done to the manager.
Dinner was amazing sufficient choices served quickly and presented lovely.
So relaxing too.
Breakfast was also amazing plenty to choose from.
All in all an amazing place.
Praise must go to the gentleman on duty who made us so welcome he never stopped all night from doing the bar serving the meals tidying the tables and including us in his conversation.
Very well done to you all.
We certainly will be back.

Ravenstone Lodge Hotel was the best of the 3 hotels we visited on our week's trip to the lakes. Our room (originally the hayloft) was huge and very comfortable, with everything we could possibly need. The food - both at breakfast and in the evening was superb. Mike and all of his wonderful staff could not do enough for us.

This place oozes everything needed for a wonderful stay in the Lakes. The location itself is so very peaceful and was perfectly located for the walking we wanted to do. The professional staff (Pete and Brett) went out of their way to deliver excellent service and always with a genuine smile and good humour. The chef produces high quality cuisine at good prices. We were able to see the Lakes at their best from this lovely location and were made to feel like welcome old friends rather than merely paying guests.

Thank you to all - and I mean all staff, they really are a credit.

We will not hesitate to return and could not recommend this place highly enough.

We stayed two nights in late October, room 9 is excellent, very comfortable with double aspect views. The real benefit of this little gem of a hotel is the food, they have a great chef. Breakfast is enhanced with bread, marmalade, jam and granola all made in-house. I had the chicken liver parfait for a starter one evening, again James had made it himself not bought it in. If you like your food then this is the hotel for you.
