My room at Heliotopos Apartments was clean and comfortable, albeit on the small side. Fantastic views of the water and mountains from its hillside location. The staff that I interacted with were cheerful, helpful, and very responsive to all questions and requests.

I would recommend Heliotopos for solo and couples who want to be close to the action but not in the middle of it. A quick, five-minute walk to the beach, restaurants, bars, and other services.

The room features a small kitchenette with a sink, hot plate, and coffee maker. Small but clean bathroom. Small but lovely balcony with amazing views! Large bed; not luxury, but serviceable.

I would definitely stay at Heliotopos again, and I found it to be a terrific value!

I liked that there was enough privacy and there was a nice seating on the balcony with a beautiful view. The furnishings were very cozy, but the kitchenette and bathroom needed to be modernized. The beds would be more comfortable with mattress toppers and new pillows. Mosquito nets and shutters on the windows that worked well were nice. There were no proper knives in the kitchen. The cleaning service was pleasant. The rooftop pool is small, but offers pleasant moments with views and relaxing water. The house was surrounded by a nice little garden.

Thank you for a couple of really nice days in the wonderful Heliotopos Apartments. We only met sweet and smiling people, and we got awesome homemade breakfast.
The view from our balcony was amazing, where we could see the town of Tolo , the mountains and the ocean.
You are in my notebook under the section “Places to visit again”

A very good family run apartment accommodation. Good beds, nice rooftop swimming pool with bar and great view. Super friendly family. We also really liked the simple but good breakfast. If you are around and like to support local small scale tourism this is the place to go!

As previous travellers reported, great welcome, great breakfast, great view etc. Easy access to the beach and Tolo tavernas. Travelled with an 80+ year old grandmother and also a 4 year old boy who loved it as much as everyone else. Also on the last night one of us left their wallet (a lot of cash + credit cards) in a bar in Tolo. We found this out the next day when we had checked out and were about 50 km away. One phone call to Gunda and she located the bar and the wallet within 20 minutes. Hats off to Gunda and the people of Tolo!

We really enjoyed our two weeks here. From the moment you arrive and are offered some of the renowned orange cake you are made to feel very welcome. We were given a complementary breakfast and evening drinks on our first day but made our own breakfast and bought beer and wine from the supermarket after that. The year we went the pound did not buy many euros and we needed to make our money stretch as far as possible. There are two supermarkets nearby and they both sell fresh local fruit and vegetables as well as all the other basic necessities. I can thoroughly recommend the cheap and very cheerful barrel wine at 2 euros 40 for 1 and a half litres. It comes in large plastic bottles but don't let that put you off. It is very drinkable!

All the staff were so friendly without being invasive. Gunda, in particular was a fountain of local knowledge. She and Voula will give you all the recommendations you will need for places to eat, things to do and the best ways to get there. The friendliness of all the staff is what makes the atmosphere so special here. This is not true of Tolo as a whole, we found. We tried to speak as much Greek as we could but we felt, aside from some lovely exceptions (Maria's restaurant, George the taxi driver) we felt Tolo has suffered a little as a result of over development. In the shops and on the streets people were quite aloof and almost a little resentful of us. Mind you, it was really hot (in the 40's) for a number of days! I think if you are seeking unspoiled Greece then you need to visit elsewhere. Having said that, Tolo is a great base for visits to the ancient sites and to the far prettier Nafplio and there is something quite special about being able to hurl yourself into warm, turquoise waters within 5 minute of leaving your room.

There are 28 separate apartments in the complex but the architecture and beautiful planting make each apartment feel quite secluded. The pound was quite weak against the euro when we stayed so we needed to eat in for a number of nights but we were able to cook some tasty meals using the little cooker in our room.

The standout feature of the apartments is the wonderful root top terrace with its breathtaking views. You can take your own food up there and, as long as you don't sit in the bar area, you can also take up your own drinks up in the evening. Gunda always came and had a chat with us and we were never made to feel unwelcome. The pool is quite small but a welcome retreat from some of the heat of the day.

The apartments are only a short walk to the beach, which is a little grubby and really crowded but it is very safe for small children. We took a taxi (7 euros each way) to Kastraki beach which is stony but much prettier, quieter and better for snorkeling. There is a lovely bar up a set of white steps at one end of the beach, which is pricey but offers more stunning views. We really liked the bartender who showed us to the areas with the most attractive views and ordered us a taxi when our usual one failed to turn up. You never felt rushed or pressured. It is a delightful place to chill out, literally! There is also a Taverna serving delicious food, some of the best we tasted, but again, as the only English family we felt that the staff were a bit frosty and unwelcoming compared to the service the mainly Greek clientele were receiving.

Just round the corner from Krastraki beach is Placa beach. A German couple we became friendly with said that this beach was also less crowded and more pleasant than Tolo. If you want to hire pedalos or canoes or ping about behind motoboats on rings or bananas then Tolo is your beach. There is also an area full of floating inflatables which is 8 euros for the day and will keep little ones and not so little ones entertained for hours.

I would say that the Heliotopos Apartments went a long way to making our holiday so relaxing and enjoyable. Do visit Nafplio town and castle, Mycenae and Epidavros. They are all unforgettable but go early. We took a taxi (80 euros!) to Mycenae so that we were there at 8.00. People arriving later found the heat uncomfortable as there is no shade. I would advise the same thing for Nafplio castle, which is a thousand step walk and is no fun in the heat. You can drive up to this as well. The views in all these places are awe inspiring. I don't think we will miss Tolo as much as we will miss the Heliotopos Apartments.

If you're looking for a full-service hotel, this isn't it. If you're looking for fully furnished apartments of various sizes and configurations, extremely clean, well maintained, and with an extremely responsive management (fluent in English, Greek, German - and probably other languages), this is it. Very family-friendly, but the building is so well constructed and designed that the only time you're aware of all the children there is when people converge for the superb breakfast buffet - which in and of itself rates at the top of breakfast buffets we've had in both Greece and the US in the last ten years, both in setting and food quality/selection. Ample parking (free), fabulous rooftop terrace, short walk to the village of Tolo and a 15-minute drive to Nafplio are other benefits. Very reasonable prices combine with all the other assets to make Heliotopos a superb value.

I can thoroughly recommend the Heliotopos Apartments. My room was extremely clean, the bed and bed linen excellent, the bathroom is small but has plenty of shelving. My balcony was big enough for a table and chairs and had a wonderful view over the garden and Tolo bay. The staff, without exception, were some of the nicest I have ever encountered. And, yes, there is cake waiting for you when you arrive! I would also recommend the buffet breakfast which seems to cater for all nationalities.
The garden is beautiful, the pool is small but very well maintained, totally adequate, and with various levels of sun-bathing area around it, and again the view... The beach is just four minutes walk down a path. I was using the apartment both for relaxing around the pool and for visiting ancient sites in the region, and far preferred it Nafplion, which, although beautiful felt very touristy. Tolo, although not perfect, was much quieter (in June) and gave a sense that you are a bit out in the country.

Heliotopos appartments is a little paradise in Tolo, with very modern design and a "wild" liitle garden around it. Congratulations for the professionnalism of the staff and for the great location, very close to center and beach but also very quiet and isolated. Defenitely good value for money and it is very different from the majority of Greek summer appartments.

The apartments at Heliotopos are basic, but provided all the essentials needed for a short stay. The rooms used all space effectively, even the roof of the building was converted into a pool, dining area and bar, which showed the incredible view of the sea. The grounds are immaculately kept by the owner, who takes great care in making sure your stay is comfortable and welcomed. Even when you first arrive into your room, you are welcomed homemade Greek cake. The position of the apartments is in a great place, as it is situated a 2 minute walk from the beach and commercial areas, which include many shops and tavernas. But it is secluded from the noises and crowds of the town. The owner went the extra mile to make you feel at home, and answer all requests you had. But never intruded personal space. A fabulous, beautiful place to stay, would 100% go again !!
