We stayed 2 days at this nice family run hotel. The room was clean and small and a little worn. The hotel is located right on the beach so the view from the room was amazing. The hotel is also located centrally close to everything. Overall good value for money and nice people. The guy serving breakfast is a little grumpy with bad service - but it was kind of funny😉

I am amazed at the last review. My husband and I stayed on the All Inclusive basis in May for two weeks and we were very impressed with everything from the rooms which had just been redecorated to the food and service.

We were made to feel so welcome and met some lovely people both guests and the greek family/friends etc who seemed so content running the hotel.

For two weeks we ate our meals just 3 metres from the sea under the veranda looking out at beautiful views. We could finish a tasty lunch and then go straight in the sea followed by a glass of wine sitting on a sunbed at the edge of the sea. While there we spoke to at least 3 sets of visitors who were repeat visitors to this hotel. The Greek night on a Tuesday was well done and we listened to a couple of performances from professional singers/guitar players who were staying at the hotel. The bar(also open to the veranda)at night was a cosy welcoming place with a big screen TV for special occasions.

The hotel is just 50 yards from the centre of Tolon which has not been taken over by tourists and still retains the character of a Greek town but has plenty of shops to browse round and no hassling at all!. There was some sort of festival going on around the 20th May and we were able to watch the goings on without feeling like strangers. It is also very easy to catch a bus to Napflion which I think was the original capital of Greece and is also on the coast.. Athens makes a good but tiring day trip as does the Corinth Canal.

We have never returned to any hotel as yet in over 20 years of travelling but would seriously consider a repeat visit here. The 3 hour transfer back across the Pelopennese mountains to the airport at Kalamata is worth seeing and there is a stop half way for a cuppa. The only tip I would give is to ask for a sea view room on the front as there are a few on the side with perhaps not such a good view and a couple at the back which presumably are only used when the hotel is full.

We stayed in Aris for two weeks and loved the place. Rooms are pretty basic and small, but the atmosphere is wonderful. Personnel is very friendly and they make you feel welcome. Hotel is located in the middle of that main road, and everything, shops, restaurants, etc. are very close to hotel. But still you can sunbath next to the beach only few steps away from the hotel bar. And the view is wonderful and you can have breakfast everyday right next to the ocean. We will recommend this to all!

Great family-run hotel right on the beach. Could find no fault with the excellent service provided by Kostas and Yannis and their staff. Never wanted to leave.

We stayed at the Hotel Aris booked through an agent in Aug 2008. It was very good value and included transfers and flights. Tolo is a fairly quiet resort with enough going on, a nice beach and a variety of good value tavernas over looking the coast. It is a great place to explore the Peloponese, not enough to do there all week without some days out though.

The hotel was lovely, the restaurant was almost directly on the beach (lovely to sit with a drink or eat breakfast) overlooking the sea. The beach and sea were lovely to sit on and walk along outside the hotel. Some hotels a bit further up the beach on either side were busier and some did not back straight onto the beach like Hotel Aris.

We were lucky to get a room with a balcony overlooking the sea (requested on booking if possible). The room was basic (as they tend to be in Greece) and the bathroom was small with a shower. You had to hold the shower head to use it. The room was cleaned really well and regularly. Towels were basic but replaced very regularly. The room had air conditioning controlled from the room. It is not luxurious, but you can't expect that for a hotel of the rating and price.

The cleaning, bar and waiting staff were very friendly and would talk about the local area. The reception staff were also helpful.

Breakfast was a choice of fruit (tinned and fresh), rolls, cakes, tea, coffee, juice, cereal, Greek yoghurt and honey. As good as any hotel in Greece (they don't tend to attach the same importance to breakfast as Brits!) It was lovely to eat it on the seafront. We went for b&b to eat out. We especially liked the French restaurant (Chez ...) in town for a really nice (& bit more pricey) special meal. There were also lots of lovely tavernas in Tolo.

We took day trips to Olympia (a long way), Cornithian Canal, Athens, Naphlion ... through agent on welcome meeting. Don't try to do too much like we did. Athens and Olympia were a long way, but worth it if you are going to explore ancient sites. Don't miss an evening trip on a boat from Tolon to Naphlio (sunset, beautiful costal ride and evening in Venetian town - where all young, beautiful, wealthy Greeks hang out). We had our meal there and a few drinks and stroll around. - Ask locals at Tolo where to eat in Naphlio. We like it so much we got on a local bus the next day and went back to explore some more. Ask the bar man / receptionist about buses etc.

What an awesome find! Family owned and operated and it feels like it too!

Friday Night Bouzouki Dancing reminded me of my first trip to Greece 20 years ago. There are no strangers when you are in Tolo. The village is so small, everyone knows everyone, and when you're new you're friends with everyone right away.

Our room was the top floor overlooking the beach and cove of Tolo. You could see all the way up and down the beach. The accommodations were simple and homey, nothing super fancy or frilly. We were barely in the hotel except in the lobby bar and the hotel is pretty centrally located so everything was walkable. Of course, the whole town is walkable in 10 minutes, but proximity to the Marina was convenient and all the little shops and things to do on the beach were right there and easy.

I highly recommend for simple accommodations and cozy, home away from home feeling from the other guests, staff and owners there every day.

All the staff at the Aris are so friendly and helpful that they make the whole stay a real pleasure. Beds clean and comfy, views beautiful, situation perfect, meals and breakfast excellent. Only things to let the hotel down are the very out of date bathrooms, showers, toilets, which are greatly in need of attention to fittings, shower cubicles, etc, though they are cleaned thoroughly every day. Full marks to Iannis, Kostas, Stematis, etc for their determination to please.

The Aris Hotel is a family run business and you're made to feel welcome from the moment you arrive. When you get down to reception, the view you are met with is absolutely amazing! The hotel has a great location, situated right on the beach and the sea is clear and warm. The food is good, and prices are very reasonable. This is definitely somewhere you can come and relax, and if you like to explore, there are other places you can visit, and things to do during the day. The hotel rooms are rather basic, but have always been clean whenever we've stayed. There is also enough to do in the evening to keep you occupied, as there are lots of other good places to eat (a visit to Taverna Bob's just down the beach to sample the homemade pizza is a must!), and if you want to go out for a few drinks, there are some bars that stay open until late. So...if you're looking for somewhere to relax, have a good time and feel totally at home, I would definitely recommend it!

As I frequent traveller to Greece for over 35 years, I thought I must report on the Hotel Aris in Tolon from where I have just returned (August 2006).

What an incredibly indifferent C Class Hotel this is. In its favour the hotel is on the beach; offers free aircon and sun loungers but oh ! those bedrooms - as bad as any I visited in the early 70's - totally tired and impractical. The bathrooms have to be seen to be believed.

The food is boring, unimaginative and expensive vs nearby Tavernas as are bar prices.

I certainly wouldn't go again and couldn't recommend it.

Come on Aris, reinvest some of the profits - you have a place of great potential.

Arrival by coach means you have to take your suitcases down an incline and steps to check in. A small elevator takes your bags and you up (only 3 floors) rooms are off a nice foyer. We
were fortunate to have a middle balcony overlooking the sea, as
we had requested by email ahead of time. The view re-paid us
for struggling a little with suitcases and steps. A pleasant room
with comfortable twin beds, bathroom with shower and bedding
was changed almost daily. Air conditioning was useful and free.
I arrived not feeling well and the staff were great at making me some soup and chicken stew for the next few days. Taki was the head chef and as we ate a lot in the hotel, my husband tried
all the different dishes. Taki's brother Yanni cooked me a lovely lobster and the fresh caught fish gave us lots of variety.
Breakfast was a buffet that was very nice and to sit and enjoy
the view as the water lapped almost to the steps of the hotel
and a thermos jug of coffee. What more could you want!
We made lots of friends, danced Zorba on Friday night's
entertainment nights and had a great holiday!
