Certificate of Excellence
Under new ownership since February 2015, The Engine Inn is a traditional Cornish Grade II listed pub situated in a rural area between St. Ives and Penzance in West Cornwall. The welcome here is as warm as the log fire. The pub serves home cooked, reasonably priced pub meals - whenever possible, utilising fresh local ingredients - and a range of wines, lagers, ciders and Cornish ales. En suite accommodation is housed within a separate converted Grade II listed barn, offering privacy, peace and in the case of the first floor room, stunning moorland views. There are regular events taking place, including a weekly charity quiz night and an accoustic night, as well as a monthly open mic night and other live music events.

Although the Engine is in need of some serious TLC the food is lovely. Called in on the off chance and had a Sunday Roast followed by one of the best Eton Mess I have ever had. Views from the garden are stunning. Pity the...More

We visited midweek and it was busy enough so I was glad we booked. The beer is very well kept and the food was good honest pub grub (my medium-rare steak was particularly nice). Service was good and the food arrived quite quickly.

Many reviews on here talk about the pub/food and not the accommodation. I wish people would pay better attention to the category of listing on this site! I hear the food is good, but we didn't try it. This is a spit and sawdust kind...More

Went for an evening meal last night at The Engine Inn as it looked nice on the website. There were 5 of us as a family. When the food eventually arrived it wasn't bad. The reason we were given for the delay was they were...More

There is free Wi-Fi available in the main pub building but I am afraid that we do not currently have WiFi in the bed and breakfast rooms which are housed in a separate building. Unfortunately, some booking websites still... More
