Where to start? Tarraleah lodge was a wonderful surprise ending to our honeymoon. The lodge is luxurious and while we stayed only two nights, I can easily imagine spending a week there. Our room (suite, really) was generous, beautifully decorated, looking our over a rhododendron garden and the valley beyond. It was quiet and peaceful. There are walks around (including...

I didn't even know Tarralea existed until we had a car accident on the highway and limped back to the nearest phone and to find someone to help us out (we had no mobile reception). The lady in reception allowed us to use her phone while we organised assistance from Hobart. The whole process ended up taking about six hours....

We recently attended a 2 night Christmas in July weekend staying in The Lodge which has 9 rooms, all, according to the guests we met, unique and beautiful with lovely period touches and atmosphere. Previously, a few years ago we had stayed for 2 nights in a room in the Scholar's House. That was also a memorable visit. The area...

We recently had our winter wedding at Tarraleah, which was our second visit to the property/village. There are so many highlights about our wedding weekend, but (aside from marrying my darling and spending time with my friends and family) the three stand outs for me were the stunning wilderness scenery, the beautifully restored Art Deco accommodation (with fireplaces!) and the...

Tarraleah Lodge is situated in the highlands of Tasmania. The lodged was originally built for Hydro Electric engineers and directors and is now upmarket accommodation. We arrived late on a very wintry like evening in February 2016. It was not all that obvious which was the lodge due ot the lack of signage but a helpful local informed us we...

Went back to Tarraleah Lodge for our second wedding anniversary after our marriage there in 2014. It was just as good as I remembered. Service is still amazing, rooms still luxurious and food still wonderful. I just love this place and plan to go back every year.

The whole town is owned by one operator. Painstakingly and expensively restored to its original Federation and Art Deco style, The place has a great feel about it. We stayed in the opulent hotel complex originally built for Tassie Hydro management. You can stay in a range of other accommodation from quaint little self-contained apartments through to lower rent rooms...

Loved our 2nd visit here, especially the host Chrissy at The Lodge. So nice to be welcomed in pleasant surroundings and given relevant information on the property, dinner and breakfast. Also delighted with welcome drinks and canapes in the lounge. This time we came with 2 other couples. Rooms are truly beautiful, all a little different, with their own character....

A superb place to stay. Peaceful - completely silent at night! Small marsupials and possums inhabit the place, there are ducks and geese on the pond in the village green and interesting bird life. The village is serene and charmingly renovated, the cottages are well set up with much of the old furniture still in them. There are some excellent...

Tarraleah Lodge has to be one of Tasmanias finest renovation hotels . Perched on the edge of the escarpment with wonderful views all around ,a luxuriously renovated 9 bedroom hotel with period features faithfully restored throughout it offers complete relaxation away from the tourist hussle of other spots. We had only 2 days to enjoy the peace, the walks, the...
