What a fantastic hotel! Perched on a beautiful hillside with amazing views. The room was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, we had a balcony which was perfect. The staff were so charming and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Sadly the facilities of the bar and restaurant were out of bounds due to Covid, but when we went into the hotel to check in we saw the bar and restaurant area. It is gorgeous. Thankyou to the staff who took great care of my and my hubby.

We spent 2 nights in a good size room with a double and single bed. A nicely decorated, comfortable room with tea making facilities. All the covid guidelines were strictly adhered to. We had two lovely breakfasts with a lovely view and a delicious evening meal. The staff were professional and friendly. Well worth a trip to The Piece Hall and Bankfield Museum in Halifax and some lovely shops and the canal in nearby Sowerby Bridge and the lovely town of Hebden Bridge. A walk up the hill from the hotel are the stunning views from Norland Moor.

I stayed here for 3 nights in October as a mini break away. I booked this place as I could take my dog and was near Hebden Bridge. The staff have been nothing but friendly and accommodating. The food has been very tasty, but could do with being hotter, as often its warm. The food is a little expensive too for what it is £14 for fish and chips) but appreciate with COVID they do need to cover overheads. The hotel itself can be tricky to find and I ended up coming up narrow lanes (and scratching my car) when on walking about can see there is a more central road to bring you in. The bar/restaurant staff have been lovely and always willing to chat (as I am a lone traveller). Wonderfully located and great views. The room is very comfortable and the shower divine after a days walking. Very nice and quiet and comfy bed - what's not to like! Just come up the main road when you arrive!

I've been going to this restaurant for over 20 yrs and seen many refurbishments. The restaurant has been nicely decorated and is pleasing. unfortunately we were let down badly. No beer, draught or bottled only one lager and poor selection of wine. Seemingly they weren't supposed to open the restaurant until tomorrow. it would have been better had they waited! Five items on all three courses but no Sunday roasts!!! On top of all that it was the waiters' first shift, poor guy. I'm not surprised we were the only diners. It will not stop me going again with the hope that there will have been some improvements.

Hi, and thank you for visiting The New Hobbit. We are disappointed that this visit did not live up to your previous experiences with us. I am pleased to let you know that the New Hobbit is now open to the general public and we now have a selection of beer, wine and are also introducing a new menu. Unfortunately during the Covid pandemic we are unable to offer our Sunday Carvery however from this Sunday we will be offering a Sunday Roast. I am pleased that you will be returning in the future and I am confident that you will see us in a better light.

Had a 2 night stay here and it did not disappoint. A reduced menu but omg the food was amazing. Steak pie, fish and steak....all were lovely. The deserts were just as good. Would recommend this place and will certainly come back. The staff were so friendly and made us feel very welcome.
