We had dinner with friends at La Fosse. It was a very quiet night. La Fosse has retained much of its original feel in its conversion to a restaurant and B&B. The young lady serving us was absolutely excellent. The food was good but not quite as special as I had hoped given the chef's many awards. The pigeon breast... More

Stayed for 2 nights in Room "Dorset Blue" on a Telegraph offer and it was simply wonderful. The cream tea on day one was perfect - scones with no fruit and a very slight saltiness and a lovely crunch. The taster menu on day two was absolutely excellent. All the six courses were memorable but the cheese board, 10 Dorset... More

Stayed in this hotel for two nights for a nearby wedding. We had dinner there the first night and the food was really good (so was the breakfast) and the service was really excellent, people running the place are definitely very available and happy to accommodate requests. Overall it's a nice B&B but I was a little disappointed with the... More

Cranborne is a charming village, surrounded by beautiful countryside. To the north east is the cathedral city of Salisbury, the coastal resorts of Poole and Bournemouth are a half hour drive to the south. To the west is Thomas Hardy country and the village of Shaftesbury. The New Forest is only a short drive away. Cranborne has a Norman church,... More

Spent three nights in Stoney Cross room. Home from home. Very quiet. And excellent value . The breakfasts are to die for. Mark and Emmanuelle are perfect hosts. The residents' lounge is very charming and there is a wealth of maps, etc.

I booked La Fosse for dinner and an overnight stay having previously had dinner here back in February and loved the feel of the place. This time I booked for my fiancé's birthday and we had a wonderful time. The hosts are gracious and very friendly - there is a personal touch without being intrusive. Our dinner was fantastic once... Warm welcome. Very quirky decor, well equipped bedrooms, comfortable beds. The highlight was the food Mark is an exceptional chef, beautifully presented six course dinner. The breakfast was also fantastic great choices. Extensive selection of wines and spirits. Attentive but not intrusive waitress. The only negative was there was a musty smell in the lounge but this could be due... More

We visited here as a result of a very complimentary Daily Telegraph review and decided to make a special detour on our way to Devon from the wild North. I have just read a rather unsympathetic review from someone who complains of a musty smell. There is an element of truth in it, but don't let first impressions put you... More

We have just returned from an overnight stay at La Fosse. It was delightful. We stayed in the Dorset Blue room which was beautifully decorated with a lovely modern and clean bathroom plus an extremely comfortable bed. The staff and owners were very friendly and provided excellent service. We were staying to celebrate a friends birthday who surprised us with... More
