Peace, comfort, delicious food and warm hospitality are what we offer at Mackeanston, our 17th century country home. Beside the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, Mackeanston looks South to the Gargunnock Hills with distant views of Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument. Breakfast is served in the Conservatory overlooking the old walled garden where we grow our own fruit and vegetables. The Garden Studio for two, situated in the Orchard beside the tennis court is available for B&B or self cater. Whilst in the main house we have a Twin en suite.

Detailed Reviews
Going to this small B&B was more like visiting a country cousin than staying with strangers. Fiona was meticulous in preparing for us, asking about food allergies, likes and dislikes. By the time we got there I felt like we were old friends. The large bedroom had all the personal touches you would have in your own home. The bed was big and comfortable, and the bathroom was large enough to host a dinner party. The attention to detail was striking. Breakfast was a real treat. I had smoked haddock with poached egg, while my wife tucked into a porridge of Scottish oats. Fiona says she is cooking fewer dinners these days, but try to persuade her. She prepared pheasant with all the trimmings that was other worldly. With only two rooms, which we shared with friends, it really was like a family experience.

Fiona and Colin are excellent hosts and made us feel very welcome to their home. The beds are comfy, everywhere is sparkling clean and Fiona's cooking both breakfast and evening meal is second to none. Would I recommend this B&B? OH YEAH!

We were in Mackeanstone House just for a night (it's a pity), but if I come back to Scotland, I'll repeat. Fiona is an amazing host an a wonderful cook. Her conversations were really encharming.
I strongly recommend this B&B, becasue it's much more than just a B&B. It's like a home, far from your own home.

My 85 year old parents and I recently stayed at Mackeanston House and it was such a delight. My parents stayed in the garden cottage and found it so comfortable. It was like having your own little house - beautifully decorated, light-filled, and extremely comfortable. It would be the perfect base for self-caterers looking to have some privacy and also a comfortable retreat.
I stayed in the big house in the large bedroom with the amazing bathroom. I treated my parents and myself to dinner at Mackeanston as it was our final evening of our holiday to Inverness and it was a great decision as Fiona is a wonderful cook and a lovely hostess. The food was served at the large dining room table and we had some lovely conversation with Fiona. It was expensive but going out to a pub would have meant getting back in the car and driving which we clearly were tired of by our final evening! I would definitely recommend staying at Mackeanston House and I would also recommend booking the meal as well. Breakfast in the conservatory the next morning was also a treat and we met some other lovely guests over the meal. Overall - it was a wonderful experience.

I am more than impressed with this property and our hostess Fiona who obviously takes a great deal of pride in the studio, and so she should
I don’t think I have ever been so taken with anywhere I’ve stayed, and have fallen in love with The place.
The studio is cosy, peaceful, and outstanding place to stay, from the tasteful decor, together with, the lovely personal touches, like robes, slippers , toiletries and a lovely welcome from Fiona with a few bits and peices to settle you in ( milk bread and so much more.
. Everything is done with great care and attention, which show that a great deal of thought and pride has gone In to making the studio and grounds a taste of luxury.
Great for a break from the rat race, of for a lovely romantic weekend. I challenge anyone to find anything negative about their experience staying here and I can say without any fear of contradiction, that once you have stayed here you won’t want to go anywhere else. I would give 10 stars if I could. Nothing short of perfect, worth every penny. Thank you Fiona

This was my second stay at The Studio at Mackeanston. It really is a gem, definitely to be filed away, then revisited. Colin and Fiona were so helpful, nothing seemed too much trouble. Homemade marmalade and fruitcake that was every bit as delicious as before! The Studio is warm and cosy and so well situated, with endless places to visit, from walks and wildlife to nearby Doune Castle and also Stirling Castle. I visited Edinburgh whilst staying, which was a very easy drive in under an hour and passed by the beautiful Kelpies. Have now stayed in both winter and summer, both enjoyable.

This was far and away the best B&B experience my husband and I had on our honeymoon! Fiona and Colin were able to accommodate us last minute, and everything was absolutely perfect, from the room to breakfast complete with fresh mint tea, a full English breakfast, and home-made jams! The room itself was very clean, clearly well-cared for, and made you feel as if you were visiting family. The house has a beautiful garden as well, and it was exactly the calm getaway we needed. The detached guest house is right next to a little stream, and it's so quiet and peaceful that the only thing you hear for miles is the sound of the wind and the birds. Just lovely.
We would love to stay again, and quite honestly would journey to Scotland again just to do so.

A warm and welcoming house in a wonderfully peaceful setting. A large, comfortable room overlooking a pretty garden. A big bathroom, thoughtfully stocked with gorgeous soap, bubble bath, shampoo etc, with a powerful shower and lots of hot water to ease our aching muscles after long walks and climbs. Homemade oatcakes and homegrown strawberries and raspberries amongst other delicious things for breakfast. Fiona and Colin were so kind, accommodating and hospitable. I hope we return.

Fiona and Colin were wonderful hosts. We had dinner the first night we arrived and immediately felt looked after and rested. The house is beautifully decorated and the garden and views from the house are spectacular. Breakfast was well sourced and Fiona's cooking is delicious, she gave me her recipe for scones and oatcakes. We would definitely come back and recommend this delightful B & B to anyone.
