Very nice bar lunch, sea bass was lovely, rib eye wee bit tough which was removed from the bill, enchilada was impressive ,no need for a starter next time, the starter of meatballs was up there with the best.
Staff were very friendly and efficient. The decor was lovely and spotless , not to bright which was nice ,toilets were spotless, would love to have seen the log fire on as it was a wee bit cold ,typical Scottish summer weather I suppose.
Wee bit pricey for a bar lunch, maybe they could look at a set menu attract more people.
Overall, well worth a visit

Spent one night at the Cardross Inn and was impressed with the value for money together with the friendliness of the staff. Very accommodating and helpful.
Rooms are okay for a short stay. Small, without being claustrophobic and have everything you need. It is next to a busy road so expect some road noise.
We paid £100 for our room and that included full Scottish breakfast for two, as much tea and coffee as you could want and lots of fresh warm toast.
A great wee find and would recommend. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Added bonus is the Cardross Golf course is immediately across the road for the golf tourists.

When we arrived at the Cardross Inn at 1.00pm the pub was empty, which concerned me a bit on a Sunday afternoon, but by 1.30pm it started to fill up.

There is a good size car park attached to the pub, which is in the centre of the conservation village of Cardross and the pub/restaurant itself is attractively decorated and very comfortable.

There was a standard menu and one offering specials. I had the hot buffalo chicken wings from the standard menu and a seafood trio from the special menu. The seafood trio was a starter dish, which I requested to have as a main course, but I failed to emphasise that I would like a main course sized portion, so it was starter size and rather small.

The chicken wings, although tasty, were not spicy as advertised and the accompanying blue cheese dip was forgotten, so I asked for it and it came, but when I had only one uneaten wing left. Oh well, it was a genuine mistake.

Our friends had fish and chips and chicken with haggis respectively. Both said that the taste was good and so was portion size.

For dessert one friend that a thick orange chocolate mousse, which looked wonderful. My wife loved her bread and butter pudding and I had a passion-fruit-topped cheesecake that was delicious and creamy, but with a base that was rather too dense.

Service was attentive and friendly. We all agreed that we would be happy to return.

Having visited The Cardross Inn last year, I couldn’t wait to get back for a nice meal.

On arrival staff were friendly and seated us quickly. We did have to wait about 10 minutes to receive a menu and have our drink orders taken. We were not informed about the Sunday Roast that was on and only realised there was a Sunday Roast option when we overheard the waiter tell the table next to us.

I ordered prawns and my friend mussels to start. The prawns were good however the mussels should never have made it past the kitchen, they were tiny and frankly embarrassing for the restaurant to put out. Very poor quality.

We order steak and a halloumi burger. Which took about half an hour to come. The steak we asked for rare and it came medium to well done, it was very flat looking as if it had been pressed to make it look larger. It was tough to cut. My friend hated it.

The halloumi burger was ok, the bun was very hard so eating it was awkward, it felt stale. The fries weren’t great, very pale.

We then ordered dessert, the brownie and sticky toffee pudding. The brownie and ice cream was lovely, the sticky toffee pudding tasted bland and like it came out a box.

We paid £71 for 3 courses for two and drinks. Honestly the food quality was not worth the price. The Cardross Inn used to serve high quality food and now it’s standard pub food which doesn’t reflect the prices on the menu. The steak was £19.99 and was worth about £7.99 in my opinion.

It’s a shame because the location is great however I’m not sure if there is new management who is trying to sell pub food at high quality restaurant prices. If they keep this up, many locals won’t return and will easily do the 5 minute drive into Helensburgh where restaurants like Sugar Boat offer high quality for good prices.

I stayed here for 2 nights (paid for 3-left on the 3rd day), I made several requests to resolve loud and constant noise in my room. It was non-stop, I couldn’t relax until it was switched off 11.30pm+. Management didn’t care or bother to come and listen to it despite the fact I was clearly upset. They blamed it on me for booking at an inn and not realising there would be noise. They didn’t apologise once, or offer anything to resolve it, and they told me they had to play music for their restaurant customers. I left on the third day but they refused to refund me and booking.com have been no help, £120 to sleep in my own bed but it was better than staying there another night.

I booked this trip to relax as I have bad anxiety after lockdown and living alone, this completely ruined my stay and experience. The managers were emotionless and heartless. I want all businesses to thrive after the hard year we’ve had, but this place doesn’t deserve it.

Food wasn't that great either. The serving staff were lovely, shame their efforts were spoiled by bad managers.

Booked well in advance for what was to be our first meal out in a very long time. We arrived in good time for our 2 hour time slot which began at 7:15. An hour later, we still hadn't been served. On prompting, appetisers arrived. At 9pm I expressed concern to staff that our time slot was almost up and we still hadn't eaten. I was advised that we didn't need to worry about that as it was their fault. She suggested we purchase more wine.

At 9:30 we decided to cut our losses (£40 for train fares and a few drinks) and asked to be billed for what we'd already consumed. (appetisers were not charged) The waitress tried to leave the bill and run but we politely and respectfully expained how disappointed we were, having travelled by train to eat here, sat almost 2 and a half hours, just to leave without our meal. Her suggestion was to book another time and hope they'd do better. The 10 minutes we took to finish our wine was excruciating. Staff were just dying for us to leave.

Cardross Inn - we were not looking for freebies, we just wanted a nice dinner, but to offer very badly treated customers an opportunity to throw more money at you as a consolation? The 2 hour slot is in place to allow hospitality to resume while keeping everyone safe - to assume we were happy to waive that was presumptious and I suspect not entirely legal.

I held back this review for a few days to give you an opportunity to review your own conduct and hopefully contact me to apologise for your dreadful treatment of what had been regular customers. Disappointing.

Im so sad that such a good restaurant has went so far down hill that I don’t think it will ever get back up it. Menu is overpriced considering the quality and quantity of the food very bland small portions, staff took our drinks order when we entered the premise but forgot to actually give us them, waited an hour on fish and chips to be giving a chicken burger and chips instead, they then offered to rectify this but as i had waited so long on my food in the first place i wasn’t prepared to wait another hour on possibly the correct order. They offered a free round of drinks for thier mistake which we declined as again we waited that long our drinks to come we wouldn’t even have had time to drink a second round as we where only allowed 90 minutes at the table because of covid restrictions. they then said they would take the original drinks off the bill which they never did either. Staff where very rude and very uninterested in any of their customers. We where told on the phone when booking that only two separate households where allowed to meet up inside due to COVID-19 restrictions but they had a gathering of around 20 people who had booked one section of the restaurant for a communion which made zero sense. Overall a total shambles definitely wont be back.

With the price per person costing nearly £70 you would expect something amazing for your Christmas meal.

Firstly the staff where rude, no festive spirit in them at all, constantly rushing past the table, the atmosphere was far from calm and the pub was cold. We had to ask for extra cutlery and chase up our food as half our guests got served and the other half didn’t, the staff didn’t even come to explain to us what had happened.

Secondly, the food was awful. We have eaten here numerous times and always found the portion size to be great, very small portions, hardly any flavour, food came out cold and not even given a choice of extra gravy for Christmas dinner!

Furthermore, you would think with dinner costing so much you would attest have a lovely decorated table or a decent cracker, nothing of the sorts. A glass of fizz or a cup of coffee included in that’s extortionate price… but no.

Very disappointed with this pub, doubt we will come back now as they have ripped people off for what was meant to be a special day.

It’s not even the above and beyond you would expect at that price, it’s just the basics and keeping it a special day.

We visited on a Saturday, it was reasonably busy a few tables were unoccupied, which equates to being less busy than pre covid levels as tables are more spaced out.
It took about half an hour for our drinks to arrive, shortly followed by the one starter we had ordered.
Halloumi with chilli jam was quite nice, however the salad dressing had an odd taste.
We then waited another 40 minutes for our main courses. We asked a couple of times when it would arrive. It was 1915 by this time, with the restaurant having to shut at 2000.
The two tables of 5/6 people near us who were seated at the same time were still waiting on starters. 1hr 15 mins later! Our mains arrived I had flat iron steak (served medium rare). The steak was overcooked medium/well done and was v tough; I struggled with a steak knife to cut through it and it was impossible to eat. It also didn’t come with salsa verde, but with some salad with the odd plastic tasting dressing from earlier. This was refunded, I didn’t want to wait for a new steak.
My partners mother ordered fish and chips which wasn’t too bad, there was no tartare sauce available and it didn’t come with mushy peas as it said on the menu.
My partner ordered 2 starters as a main; the chicken wings which were a bit greasy and king prawns which were ok but perhaps small in number for £6/7.

The tables near us, that waited an hour and a half for their starters, got half of their starters and then were told they had run out of mains for them as they had mixed the tickets up. They left after a long chat with the manager who was very apologetic.

The staff were friendly, but seemed inexperienced as it wasn’t that busy and they weren’t very attentive. Didn’t bring new cutlery or steak knife, didn’t bring sauces, didn’t bring tape water as requested, didn’t particularly provide any service to the table.

I feel there needs to be some management in the kitchen, perhaps reduce the menu slightly to make service simpler and a better grasp on timings and numbers of dishes available in the kitchen! Also some training for the waiting staff to increase their capacity.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Cardross Inn. Upon arrival we where greeted pleasantly by a member of staff who showed us to our room. The room itself was warm, small and intimate with a lovely attached bathroom.. Bigger rooms are available at the Inn but this one suited us for the weekend break. Over the weekend, Mhairi and her team took excellent care of us from start to finish. We ate at the Inn both nights and breakfast each morning. The food was fantastic, good portions sizes and incredible valve for money. Breakfast was included in the overall price and was cooked and presented to a high standard.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will defiantly be back.
