We were excited at the prospect of making a booking to stay at this venue, but sadly the rude and obnoxious individual - 'Jill' on the reservation desk put us off immediately. Can't see how an enquiry necessitates full name, address, email, etc. Happy to give a phone no, but do you really need personal details at this stage? more to the point you weren't able to help and as you mentioned, you'd only be passing the info for someone else to call. Strange how when asking for your name - you withheld it ! It works 2 ways and I suggest for the sake of GDPR you do not ask for full disclosure until a guest is ready to make a reservation.

I've just come back from a long weekend staying here and despite the weather not being on our side we had such an amazing time. Honestly, we booked here because we couldn't get 2 dog lodges at Centre Parcs for the same time however, have 0 regrets and will probably not bother going back to Center Parcs now we know about this little gem! The location is excellent, super close to Portreath but also drivable to Penzance, St Ives and many more if you're happy to travel half an hour or so. The accommodation was superb, due to having 4 dogs in tow we stayed in 2 separate lodges as they only allow a max of 2 dogs per lodge. The lodge we stayed in was simply excellent, spacious, clean and modern. The log fire was heaven, the jacuzzi bath was great and the hot tub even better (which was maintained daily). It was such a cosy space with very comfortable beds and we thoroughly enjoyed staying here. I love how welcoming they are to having dogs too, the entire of our lodge was securely fenced with a latch lock gate so the dogs could potter about on the terrace without us having to worry about them running off. The first day we arrived a member of the team dropped off a little pet bed as well as a doggy welcome pack which included some waste bags, a ball and a little pot of calming treats it really was a lovely touch. The facilities are great, we didn't use the bistro on site but it did look lovely from the outside. The swimming pool was great, not huge but it was warm enough and big enough to get some good lengths in. I think my only criticism here would be that the app said the pool was open till 6pm, we got there at about 4.30pm on the Saturday to be told it was closing at 5pm. Might be worth updating the app with out of season times too.

Good value at this time of year. Amazing location. Could have used a refresh and a good spritz of fe breeze upstairs but linens and bathrooms very fresh and clean. It was disappointing that the pool hours weren’t longer but appreciate that it was out of season. Staff were charming.

Very disappointed, my mum booked myself and my partner a lakeside lodge for a long weekend, she's spent many weekends, Christmas's here and always speaks so highly to everyone about it But wow, we couldn't get good signal for the door app, went to reception to explain, lady at the desk huffed and asked to see my phone? We asked for a key as it just seemed easier, she wasn't happy about handing over a key but did Then, walking to the lodge through muddy puddles, stony horrible path dragging our belongings in a half working trolley, how is worth a 5 star resort? Slipped on the way up to the door The lodge was not clean, dusty, full of cobwebs, even in the cutlery , the bedding was dirty, outside the lodge was rusty, full of weeds, so for nearly £500 for a 3 day stay, absolutely gutted.

Not the 5 star resort we thought it would be. We paid double the rate for half term week and expected more. Lots of small easy fix issues we should not have had to experience. No feedback requested from the resort for “how was your stay” which is surprising but in keeping with our lack of interest in customers we experienced. Here’s our list having stayed there last week: - [ ] No oven gloves. Lots of burned fingers using a tea towel - [ ] No log burner gloves so could only use it once and not able to top up the wood because we couldn’t open it! - [ ] Stains on carpets - [ ] Floors dirty. - [ ] Staff 20 minutes late for clip and climb session and no refund offered or any apology. No staff around on reception. Only had 40 minutes after paying £15 each x 2 for an hour!!! - [ ] we paid for the Owl experience x3 then we’re told they wanted another £5 per adult to go and see animals! - [ ] No milk in shop despite milk machine. - [ ] Couldn’t get into room at 4pm, digital key issue and lodge info text message confusing. Lots of new arrivals same issue and we queued for 30 minutes to speak to reception about the issue. Only 1 of three desks manned on change over day! - [ ] Hot tub tiny for a house of 6. Only fits 2 people. - [ ] Staff didn’t seem to care about us and were not interested in going the extra mile which you would expect for a supposed 5 star resort. Directions and help were limited at best for the resort for new people staying there. - [ ] Lounge TV did not work on first day. No service until next day as out of hours are not even onsite and can only send a message for day staff. - [ ] Restaurant drinks were only in bottles and charged us draught prices. We were also asked to sit on a small table the second time when only two of us and sat in a leaking corner in a puddle of water despite restring r being mostly empty. - [ ] Staff not interested in us generally across the resort. - [ ] Staff generally didn’t seem to know what they were doing, constant chaos.

Overall we had a good stay and would return but this is our third visit and whereas previous ones have felt 5*, this didn’t. We stayed in an Eco Lodge and for the first time a ‘pet friendly’ one. We love the location, and the walk straight down to the beach. We like how the site is laid out and there’s enough space around the detached lodges for privacy etc. The overall lodge was as described so I’ll just highlight exceptions to what we’d expected: Exceeded expectations: - the hot tub was good - large decking area and outdoor furniture - comfy beds and good linen, towels and gowns - we had a good meal in the restaurant (but found it curious that a new rooftop bar has been put in front of the restaurant so you can no longer see the view) Below expectations: - the sofas were very uncomfortable and worn looking - it was superficially clean but not ‘gleaming’ (dusty under the beds, the decking and the timber needs a power wash, and we swept and mopped ourselves, which suggested it hadn’t really been done thoroughly) - the gym and the pool are too small now during busy times, considering how much the site has expanded since our first visit 10 years ago ( - I left the gym early during one visit due to the number of people and on another occasion a ‘waiting list’ was in operation at the pool) - check-in was at 4 but we didn’t get access until nearly half past (and then the app (instead of a door key) didn’t work) which is annoying after a 6 hour drive Overall though we enjoyed our stay and would return, it just didn’t have quite the same sparkle we felt it had previously

Gwel an mor is an incredible resort. We stayed over Christmas 🎄 and had such an amazing time. Our 2 young children aged 4 and 5 loved the Christmas Eve party in the soft play and the quiet pool facilities and sensory friendly play park. There are so many beautiful coves within a short driving distance and portreath beach just a short walk away. The accommodation was amazing, we stayed in lodge H23 which didn’t overlook any other lodges and had a beautiful view. It was incredibly clean and very modern with great tech. The double oven was super and a good size for cooking our Christmas dinner! Loved the sound system and being able to connect the tv to it. Hot tub was fantastic and so much better than anywhere else we have stayed as we had access to it out of the bedroom door. Everything at Gwel an mor has been carefully considered making it such a great place to stay. Thank you so much for also including the Christmas tree, it saved us bringing one with us. We will 100% be coming back if we can get a good deal for next Christmas. We felt it was very good value and would recommend it to anyone. We had a landline in the lodge and the reception called a couple of times to check everything was ok with our stay which was a nice touch. Great customer service overall, they couldn’t do enough for us. The ONLY negative for our family was not having free access to the soft play. We felt that having paid a reasonable sum for the holiday that this could have been included or atleast one or two entries for free. Otherwise for a family of 4 it’s £17 every time. It also would have been great to have had a little note when we arrived to say what was open and when on-site as we weren’t sure when the wildlife area or pool was open etc. I won’t end on a negative because I would rate the resort 9/10! The luxury eco lodges are well worth spending a little extra on.

Another good week away in a Scandinavian lodge at Gwel an Mor. Lovely clean lodge, everything I needed was provided. Balcony door blew open on a very windy day which wouldn't close properly but maintenance fixed straight away. Restaurant is amazing ... those chips!! ... and staff are so attentive and extremely helpful especially when my partner needed a taxi ordering at short notice. Thanks also to Lynda on reception for her wonderful help. Looking forward to staying again in 2024.

Christmas 2023 we stayed in lodge 107 eco lodge, we love this place second Xmas here. We loved the lodge location very private and could see the sea on good days. Few issues with lodge but staff very helpful. Fair play to hot tub guys they are checking the tubs all the time. We highly recommend the terrace for food lovely place. Very disappointed about how filthy and poorly run the base camp was on both visits this year. Visiting Santa was lovely and my kids love the reindeers. Glad to see you did keep the reindeer dust but preferred it when you had them in lodge for kids when arrived as really nice touch last Xmas. (This year at base camp to put in bags yourself Xmas eve party) We love this place so much we have already booked our summer holiday and will be looking to book Xmas 2024 Thank you Gwel an mor team we loved our Xmas see you in July 😁
