Luxury Holiday Cottages and events venue near Totnes. It is located deep in the rolling hills of the South Hams and is Devon's best kept secret. A Georgian mansion house with holiday cottages situated around a cobbled courtyard. Over the last few years it has established itself as a successful weekend wedding venue and events venue.

We attended a simply superb Wedding at The Kingston Estate for Adam & Grace. Around 90+ guests arrived on Friday afternoon 16th June and shared in an amazing experience until Sunday morning 18th June. The accommodation was outstanding and the facilities in place exceptional. We all had breakfast each morning which was a bap with either sausage or bacon with egg etc. On the Friday evening we all enjoyed a superb meal and danced the night away in indoor cavern disco area below the main house. The next day was the Wedding and this was just like all of us would dream a wedding would be like. The Wedding meal was in a rather hot building which was unbearable at times and many people had to vacate for periods of time to try and cool off. The aircon in this banquet area did not appear to be working at all and the temp gauge in the hall area read 26 deg C. Apart from that one issue the day was just brilliant and in the evening we had live music outside and then at midnight ended up inside under the main building in the Cavern disco area. The staff here are brilliant and did everything they could to ensure all went smoothly and to time. Our barn area building which we used for two nights had 7 rooms and everyone got on so well. Parking on site is not a problem and the venue is miles off the beaten track and can be hard to locate as many of us found. Our accommodation had all the mod cons and even a hot tub which was used a lot outside by the entrance to our building. To sum up we really loved this venue and the amazing gardens, building and location. We would highly recommend to anyone who is thinking of using this place for a function as the team here are excellent. Thank you for such a brilliant function and making the bride & grooms day so special. …

I attended a wedding in this blissful place earlier this year. The location is wonderful; simply exquisite for a wedding. A romantic setting for a romantic event. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent and the cottage where we stayed was cosy and comfy. I fully recommend Kingston Estate, and thank you again for finding and posting my favorite shirt that I’d mislaid during my stay.

We recently went to visit Kingston for a wedding show around. We were super excited, as this place on paper looked perfect. Unfortunately our show around was raced through. Jodie (whose name we found out later in the tour) who showed us round didn't introduce herself or ask what our names were. We felt very unwelcome, as though we'd interrupted her day and were a real inconvenience to her. We were told to allow 1 to 1 and a half hours to view the venue, we were in and out within 40 minutes. She stood twiddling her keys whilst we showed ourselves the rooms. When we asked simple questions about the capacity of rooms etc, we were met with such a defensive attitude. We sat down for 5 minutes at the end of the viewing to talk, she didn't ask us any questions or pay any interest in what we might have wanted. We didn't receive any follow up emails or specific photos that we'd asked her to send over.…

If your thinking of booking this place, do it! To get to the estate consists of single track country lanes, Some very narrow, we had no problems navigating it, rarely had other cars coming up & down. (Maybe we were just lucky) But when you get there you’ll be blown away by the beauty of the estate. We booked 4 of the cottages for 4 nights, 15 adults, a baby and 3 dogs. This place is incredible for a family gathering, all self contained cottages. Our dogs were free to roam the grounds, no leads needed. Our cottages also had gated gardens. We got to have a look inside the main house as it was open for viewing for hire, well worth a look if possible. There is a children’s play area and trampoline in the gardens. We booked a cottage with a hot tub, which was Exclusively for our use, which was a lovely extra. There is a very small pool for all guest staying on the estate. There isn’t much close by, The place is fairly isolated. ( so nice and peaceful) You need to drive to Totnes for the nearest supermarket, but isn’t that far. The cottages kitchens are well equipped, Tea, coffee, sugar and fresh milk was all provided. We requested a BBQ. This was perfect for us all sit out and eat together. The only down side was there was no outdoor lighting in any of the cottage gardens so gets quite dark but we improvised. There is a lovely pub down the lane called sea trout inn, would recommend too.…

Stayed in Owl Barn ,recently renovated but not clean. Complained about dirty pots and pans and lack of for a family Christmas dinner for ten. Living area not cleaned , thick dust, someone had left their tablets down side of settee and lots of crumbs behind and under cushions. Dinning table and chairs still had crumbs on and hair grips in the wood grain table. After complaining, the living area was thoroughly cleaned and we were given 3 bottles of wine as a sorry. Asked for more dishes ,bin liners ,dishwasher tablets ,place mats and table cloth, all of which was supplied and Jodie who sorted all this was extremely helpful. The kitchen is very small for a big cook. Had to fix door handles to utility room and architrave came off the heavy spring back door in living room. Found clothes left in draws and bedrooms need hanging clothes space. Not our best experience, but we loved being together pre Christmas and made the best of it.…

We stayed in Orchard Barn as guests at a recent wedding on the estate. The estate is very beautiful with amazing gardens. Everything in the cottage was newly renovated and done to a high standard. The cottage was well equipped with provisions for hot drinks, equipment for self-catering and plenty of parking. The scones, clotted cream and local jam were a key highlight of the weekend! Jamie, the manager, was very helpful and still made time to support with any issues despite being very busy with the ongoing wedding preparations. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend the estate and accommodation for anyone looking to host a wedding or for a weekend getaway.

We went to stay in one of the cottages (Little Cottage) last month (June 21) and it was a beautiful place to stay in a lovely location - we had everything we needed. Very quiet, nicely kitted out, perfect for a few days away for work or leisure. The one thing we struggled with was communication - we didn't get any emails confirming we had paid the full amount or booked. We emailed, called and then after waiting some time and getting no response, we facebook messaged. We finally got a reply to that and one phone call apologizing, hooray! Then when we emailed again asked for something, nothing, replied to a text, nothing..... Just a bit frustrating and a shame as its such a lovely place - perhaps just very short staffed?

You’re checking this place out and thinking should I? Let’s put this out there, beautiful estate comfortable cottages great little pool and so quiet at night. Great wi-fi only minor is take an Amazon Fire Stick or other way of accessing smart TV. But when you arrive bottle of semi skimmed milk in the fridge, cleaning pack and dog friendly pack. 3 nearby pubs, one within walking distance. This place is not usually available due to weddings but it is very COVID safe and a convenient place to explore Torbay and South Devon. The staff are friendly and welcoming. You have been told! BOOK IT! Or forever regret it! We stayed in Doves Cottage and hated leaving !

Having been raised in Devon (but now living abroad), we decided that The Kingston Estate might be the perfect place for our 7yr old son to get together with his grandparents for his annual birthday trip to England. We really wanted him to appreciate the best of the English countryside, and leave him with memories to cherish. Well, we feel so lucky to have found this fairytale venue. The setting is simply beautiful, in acres of picture perfect countryside, and we will never forget our boy's excitement as he explored the grounds, his face lighting up as he discovered country wildlife and other treasures hidden in nooks and crannies around the estate. His grandfather delighted in walking with him each day, and teaching him all about the colourful trees, plants and birds which abound in the many gardens of this impressive property. Our cottage felt luxurious, and so thoughtfully equipped - everything was in just the right place. It is evident that the proprietor insists on top quality - from the furniture and appliances, to the soft bathrobes and relaxing hot tub. Even more impressive was the immaculate attention to detail delivered by the team, they were so pleasant and always available - our son couldn't believe his luck when he came back from his birthday adventure at Crealy, to find the Kingston crew had left beautifully wrapped gifts on his bed, a selection of treats from local suppliers! Our boy and his grandparents simply couldn't have had a better experience. We've already booked to go back next year and we hear him talk about it every day! Thank you Kingston, this was the best holiday he ever had!…
