An enchanting Arts and Crafts Edwardian country house on the edge of the Ashdown Forest situated in a semi rural position in three acres of Edwardian gardens. We provide luxurious accommodation for bed and breakfast and also rent out the whole house for family holidays or short breaks at selected times of the year. Obviously the two functions are at different times. Our emphasis is providing a very comfortable, relaxed environment in a tranquil setting. To this end the beds are all king size or super-king size with sumptuous Egyptian cotton sheets. There are 3 new en suite bath or shower rooms with power showers, underfloor heating and heated towel warmers. Both the lounge and dining room have stunning views over the York stone paved, south-facing terrace and pool lawn with it's herbaceous borders. The dining table can seat 14 people.B and B guests may have breakfast on the terrace in fine weather. We provide outdoor entertainment with an outside swimming pool, heated in high summer, a 14 foot trampoline, croquet, an outdoor table tennis table and badminton net. The 3 acre garden, set out in the Edwardian era, has a variety of different areas. A herb garden outside the back door, productive greenhouse with grape vine, vegetable and soft fruit beds, Japanese garden with ponds, lawns and Scots pine walk. Although guests are tempted not to leave the premises there are plenty of attractions locally. Fairstowe is 7 miles south of the spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells with it's wide choice of shops and restaurants. We have a wealth of gardens and National Trust properties within easy driving distance. Other activities closeby include a dry ski slope, climbing wall, off-road cycling and golf.

Bridget and Jim were the perfect hosts. They have a beautiful house in an idyllic setting tastefully decorated and cleanly presented. The food was all freshly prepared and cooked to everyone’s request. They were so thoughtful, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. I can not recommend highly enough.

Fantastic hospitality by Jim and Bridget in their wonderful house!
Exciting house furnished with great taste and beautiful garden. They welcomed us with delicious cookies, the "Devon cream tea", in the magnificent tea room.
The room is very nice, spacious, overlooking the garden and the swimming pool: we slept very well.
In the morning they offered us a super and abundant home made breakfast, delicious and ideal for our Paris-London bicycle tour.
Super recommended!

Excellent bed & breakfast at this lovely family home run by the friendly owners, Jim & Bridget. We enjoyed the superking room which was very spacious and had a lovely big en-suite. Breakfast was very nice with fresh, quality ingredients. Would definitely return.

Stayed for one evening to attend a gig at nearby Trading Boundaries. Lovely property with large bedroom and separate en suite bathroom. Arrived late back but due to the size of the property did not disturb the owners.
Room had hairdryer and coffee facilities. Good breakfast with lovely fresh fruit salad.
Remote location . Would visit again . Very welcome hosts

Genuine and gorgeous 'arts and crafts' house with a warm atmosphere, very skillfully decorated, tastefully furnished with lovely antiques. Our room was bright and beautyful, with many thoughtful details, and superb beds to guarantee a good night's sleep. Stunning garden with lot's of birds to watch (and listen to). Lovely lounge with fireplace, great dining room with nice view into the garden. The breakfast left no wishes unattended. Also thanks to tips from the hosts we had most delightful dinners at pubs and restaurant in the surrounding area within 5 to 20 minutes driving. Fairstowe is a perfect basis for a perfect stay - we do highly recommand it. Jim and Bridget are caring, wonderful hosts and offer the best in everything which we greatly appreciated. Their genuine hospitality made our stay a truly wonderful experience.

Bridget and Jim went out of their way to welcome us to their lovely arts and crafts house and garden on the edge of the Ashdown Forest. The rooms are finished to an extremely high standard and the beds very comfortable. Most memorable was the delicious cream tea on the terrace on our arrival.

I stayed here whilst my husband was in the Horder Centre having a hip replacement and I was delighted with the accommodation and also with the consideration and kindness shown to me by my perfect hosts Bridget and Jim. Every detail was taken care of in the room, with good quality toiletries provided and good quality soft towels. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone.
Thank you very much Bridget and Jim.
Best wishes,
Eileen C.

Had lovely but sadly only one night stay. Beautiful Arts and Crafts house run by friendly couple. Really comfortable bed with luxury sheets and duvet. Great cooked breakfast the next morning. Nicely appointed rooms. The house is secluded and in very peaceful surroundings.
14 min walk to the Blue Anchor where we enjoyed a delicious meal.

We were greeted with a very warm welcome from Bridget and tea and biscuits in the living room, our room was lovely, made up the fire for us to enjoy some time downstairs. Striking arts and crafts features including those beautifully crafted doors and hinges and ceramic tiled windowsills. The kitchen garden and steps up to the kitchen reminded us of the beautiful Lutyens house and garden we have visited near Dieppe, le bois des moutiers. A lot of care has gone into the restoration and updating. Well worth a stay with excellent recommendations of where to eat locally.

We stayed here 1st August and were impressed with the finishing touches in the rooms. The breakfast was superb, smoked salmon and scrambled egg on offer, as well as home made jams from the extensive gardens. Would definitely recommend Fairstowe and if we were in the area again, this is where we would book.
