Stayed with Christiane and Pierre for a couple of nights whilst doing my craft course further up the road. My first time in an organic B&B…it was wonderful! Lovely friendly couple full of precious knowledge to impart about the beautiful area they live in. Comfy bed and tasty smiley breakfast 😊 Thank you for the lupin and cabbage seeds…my red lupin seeds are on their way to you! I hope to visit you again next Summer.

Charming little B&B in the heart of the Highlands, between Glen Affric and Loch Ness. Hosts Pierre and Christiane are such lovely, welcoming people, offering healthy breakfasts made with locally sourced organic foods, some grown in their beautiful garden. They gave us amazing recommendations so we could explore the area, but best of all were the interesting conversations with them over/after breakfast. We only stayed two nights, which is definitely not long enough. Without doubt we will be back for longer next time.

We had such a lovely week-long stay at Shenval with Pierre and Christiane. It was a delight to stay in an organic B&B. They were kind enough to share tips for exploring the local area, their walking expertise was a big help. They were warm and welcoming and happy to accommodate our vegan diet. They grow lots of organic produce in their beautiful garden and this accompanied our breakfast. A restful week and a great base for exploring the Highlands. Highly recommend.

We just spent a fabulous week with Pierre-Marie and Christiane. We were welcomed in and taken care of as if we were old friends. The hosts are charming! The food was delicious and filling, the discussions fun and interesting, the local tourist advice from their many years of experience can't be beat. A week well spent, we were sad to go, and would be delighted to return. We highly recommend taking the time to go to Shenval...it's well worth it!

We arrived in this excellent bed and breakfast because attracted by organic food and we found much more. Christiane and Pierre Marie, the owners of this warm place are very friendly. They are French and they spent more than 30 years in Scotland. Their knowledge of this country is remarkable. We enjoyed their precious suggestions to discover the fabulous landscapes of Glen Affric and Glen Strathfarrar. We learned a lot from them about the nature of this region. Lovers of nature and organic food, don’t miss this unique place! Manuela and Christophe

My spouse, her sister, and I were trekking through while doing the TGO Challenge last month and stopped at Shenval B&B for one night. If we'd had time, we would certainly have stayed longer, as we enjoyed the property and the owners--and even the other guests--thoroughly. As most other reviews will confirm, Christiane and Pierre are wonderful people--warm, gracious, fun, and very helpful to those, like us, who were interested in outdoor pursuits. (When I first contacted them to arrange the booking, they offered great advice on various routes we might take through the Glen Affric area.) In addition to offering an excellent breakfast, the hosts offer a dinner by request. We were wise enough to request it, and we enjoyed a thoroughly delightful evening with the hosts and another couple from France. The roast venison and fresh vegetables were delicious--especially so after 3 days of backpacking food! I can't recommend Shenval B&B highly enough. Christiane and Pierre made us feel like friends who had stopped in for a visit, rather than mere customers. We look forward to our next visit!

Every good B&B/hotel has something that makes it stand out: the location, the view, the breakfast, the amenities... Well, what stands out at Shenval are the owners, Pierre and Christiane, who are French and who have invested 35 years of their lives in Shenval. It was as if we had gone to spend two days with old friends. Our ground-floor room was small but perfectly adequate and with views of the garden. It had an ensuite shower and washbasin but the loo was across the corridor. We knew about this when we booked, and it was not a problem. Plenty of storage, and everything pristine. Comfortable bed. Breakfast was taken in Pierre and Christiane's lounge/dining room, and it was superb. They were very disappointed that we didn't want a cooked breakfast, but to have home-made fuit compote, home-made yoghourt and granola, plus lovely toast with home-made jam and marmalade was more than enough. We loved watching the birds and the fruit bushes in their garden and talking to them about growing fruit and preserving it. We had also booked dinner in the evening. There wasn't a choice (though we had been invited to declare any allergies, intolerances etc in advance) - it was like having dinner with friends where where ç'est à la fortune du pot - you take pot luck. . And it was delicious home-cooking. Haddock Mornay one night and a tagine on the second. Christiane gave me the recipe for the second night's banana-based dessert. She and Pierre are keen birdwatchers, and we were in Scotland for the birding, and after dinner we would adjourn to the comfy chairs for coffee and the four of us would spend the rest of the evening talking about birds and all sorts of other subjects. It was a lovely finale to our holiday.

Christianne and Pierre are lovely, fun people who have a wonderful B&B. They showed us the best paths to use on the Affric Kintail Way to avoid walking on the road and to get the best views. Home made organic food - yogurts, preserves, veg and fruit - what is there not to like? We felt so at home in their home which is a really lovely feeling.

Back in the Highlands of Scotland this late autumn for a walking week near Glen Affric, it was out of the question for us not to spend some nights at Shenval B&B once again. We like the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the house. The bedrooms are so cosy, clean and comfortable and we enjoy the delicious and healthy organic breakfasts, especially the homemade breads and the porridge with fruit compote. Pierre and Christiane are caring and friendly, sharing their perfect knowledge of the area, its history and environment. Pity we had to leave, hoping sincerely to be back soon for our next holiday and stay at Shenval before the end of next year.
