As the name says, it's a jungle lodge! It's in the middle of nowhere. I saw a few people coming here with expectations of it being a resort / hotel, hence wanted to set the expectations right for others... This is more like a homestay. There is no intercom, there is a small TV in the room, but the one...

We booked ghanerao jungle Lodge by considering 4.3 stars given to it. But it was way below 4.3 ratings. First of all, Google map shows wrong location. We had to go 7km ahead of it to reach hotel. The main gate to enter the premises is showing board "private property".. And no body stands there to assist.. We needed to...

Sure, we're close to the jungle. But let's say that we définitively regret those 6,5k roupies it cost by end for one night and a dinner for 3. Food is ok, but clearly overpriced for what it is. The place needs a strong replenish, it feels like nothing has been done since colonial time! No hot water, not even toilet...

The staff were great and the bed was comfortable but the rooms were tired and in need of updating. I couldn't get hot water in my room, and my friends had a visit from mice that ate her bag and scarf and his trousers. At dinner we were visited by a rat. The was an awkward moment as both my...

We arrived at the Ghanerao Castle and were completely smitten by this charming fort. We had booked the lodge but were already disappointed that we hadn't booked in at the Castle, in fact, it did cross my mind to ask if we could alter our booking there and then! The drive on to the lodge was quite long and visiting...

We were booked in here for one night on our India Heritage & Culture Tour. It was just in the first stage of being re-opened (by the grandson of the original owner) after laying idle for many years. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Ghanerao Jungle Lodge is located at the edge of Kumbhalgarh National Park and is wonderfully situated being surrounded by the natural beauty of the Aravalli Hills and the local trees and flora which have been allowed to flourish within the grounds. Although the original building is over 80 years old, it has recently undergone extensive refurbishment and now offers 7 comfortably appointed rooms, each based on an animal theme. The lodge is ideally situated for visiting the Kumbalgarh National Park which in addition to the sloth bear, leopard, sambhar, wild boar, Jungle cat that can be sighted, is the only location in Rajasthan where the four horned deer and Indian wolves can be seen. Also adjoining the lodge is the Muchala Mahavir Temple, a 10th century Jain temple which is well worth a visit and the Garacia tribal village which gives a wonderful and, as this area is relatively unexplored, an unspoilt insight into the tribal life of Rajasthan. This is an ideal place for people interested in natural flora and fauna and for peace and spiritualism as it takes you away from the cities and allows you to explore in peace and tranquility. In the evenings one can relax back at the lodge with a bonfire and enjoy the beautiful star lit nights. You can also visit some of the 33 stepwells.Visit the tribal belt to meet the Gharasiya and Rabari tribes.Walk to the Muchala Mahavir Temple.Walk to the Crocodile dam.Walk or drive to the 17th century Ghanerao Royal Castle.Visit Kumbhalgarh National Park by jeep or horse safari or trekking.Drive to the Kumbhalgarh Fort and Ranakpur TemplesUdaipur is 120 kms away. ... more   less
