I really enjoyed our stay with my girlfriend. The staffs are very nice. And the rooms are good. However the free wifi is too slow... But over all, we really appreciate the kindness of Tatay Pepe. We'll come back soon and will book again.
Stayed for two nights and it’s was a friendly atmosphere and Marilyn happy to help with any activities food or transport. Room was cozy and simple and all you need to see sharks and manta rays. Diving was great
Maryline and her husband are a retired couple, taking care of their grandchildren and who turned their adult kids rooms into a homestay. For the ones who wrote bad review, please note that you are in a remote place and in a family home, so yes it is full of old furniture and staff and the pipes could work better but it is a bit like when visiting your grandparents place and it is totally the standard of philipinos living in the area. It is definitely a place where you want to be mostly doing outside activities than stay in the room. Once you have set your mind to it and value also to find a cheap place in Donsol itself, you can truly relax and be grateful to have found such a home. You are treated there with the outmost respect and as a family member. The couple will drive you themselves from airport to the house and for all your activities, book your ticket, wash your clothes, do excellent food (ask for the green jack curry with shrimps) they actually accomodate your requests for cooking individually even if they get 3 to 4 different requests from each tourits! You'll got there to see the whale sharks in a more sustainabile way (avoid Oslob at all costs), but you can also have a memorable night out on a small boat in the river to see the fireflies lightning, a fairytale experience. I had only 2 days and thanks to Marilyn and Pepe, could do it all, had nothing to worry about and could simply relax and let them bring me around. You'll enjoy also the visiting friends and community around, filipinos people are very welcoming but I must say they were even more so in Donsol. People there valorize their nature and try to keep the environment clean, they are grateful for the tourism in their region while the place has a lot of inexplored attractions. I would have planned more time if I knew as you also have rivers, caves and a beautiful countryside. I highly recommend it and to come again not just for the whale sharks.…
Awful. Full of spiders and cockroaches. We immediately turned around when we saw the room. It was disgustingly smelly and had spiders and spiderwebs all over. The closet was full of random stuff and cockroaches. The lady Marilyn was rude when we told her we weren't satisfied, saying that this is what you get for a low price. Do not go here even for free.
Our first stop in the Philippines was Donsol. We stayed at Aguluz, which felt immediately like home. Marilyn and Pepe take such good care of you and are thinking with you about things to do in and around donsol. We rented the first day a scooter and drove land inwards to the waterfalls, Quitinday, which was amazing. The nature and little villages we passed by. In the evening we did the fire flight tour and decided after the first night that instead of 2 nights we wanted to stay another night. The second day we saw the whale sharks, which is a once in a life time opportunity. The hotel is basic, but has such a warm feeling and surrounding. Really good breakfast and tap water, because they have a filtering system. Thank you dear family! Hugs, Bart and Jet
