This dog friendly hotel comes highly recommended. We booked for one night here, stopping off while driving from Ullapool in order to visit John O'Groats quite early the next day.

We were greeted by a friendly person, who showed us to our room. Having arrived around 7pm, we asked if there was anywhere we could get something to eat. We were surprised when she said they had literally just made some home-made soup, and would we like some? We didn't have to be asked twice!

The room was comfortable and clean, and had a TV, and tea/coffee/chocolate making facilities. There is an en suite bathroom with a shower with complimentary toiletries. The only thing we thought would have been good is a bedside lamp, as when you turn the light off it's pitch dark, and I had to use my iphone light to find my way to bed!

Breakfast the next morning was of great quality. We had a full Scottish, and it was delicious and set us up for our onward journey.

Loca area is great for walks, and we walked our dog down towards the harbour, which is both scenic and historic.

For the amount we paid we thought it excellent value for money and will return, and would recommend it to anyone.

Well done, great effort.

I stayed here for two night Aug 2021 while doing the Nc500.
What amazing hosts, when i say both Joe and Steve really could not do enough for you.
I decided to have Steve's own caught and smoked mackerel on both mornings for breakfast. ( best i have ever had ).
There was options of a full fry -up, there is cereal, fruit, Tea, coffee, toast and fresh juice.

Joe
what can i say, she is so attentive.
Helpfull with advice, ask about the hidden gem of a walk starting at the tea-room.

Joe went out of her way to dry some cloths for me after i had two nights camping bless her, arrived back after an afternoon fishing to find them all dried folded and out side my door.

Steve was kind enough to lend me some of his personal fishing gear and even gave me bait.

They are an exceptional couple and go over and above .

I was in what Joe called her singel budget room (room 1)
and i don't know why they she called it a budget room, it was far from it . TV , Kettle, tea, coffee and bottle of fresh milk each day. The bed was sleeping on a cloud, comfortable chair, writing table and the room was large and spotless.

And did i mention all for an amazing price considering its on the NC500 route.
Lots of off road parking out side the B&B

If you need advice on any local knowledge just ask and they both happy to give you advice .

Joe , Steve thank you some much for an amazing stay.

Chris . xx

Beautiful property and peaceful location, definitely recommend. The nearby clean beach was  perfect for climbing around on the rocks (with stunning views) and ditching pebbles. Our 13 year old son absolutely loved it there.  Very friendly host. Lovely clean and  big family room with comfortable beds. Great big bathroom,  hot shower. Breakfast was great.

We chose a room here as a last resort as we couldn’t find accommodation in Lybster or Wick. Lovely hosts who were pleasant and accommodating (gave us an en-suite bathroom even though we hadn’t booked one) and offered a very generous cooked breakfast with berries and cereal too. However the room was so basic and bed uncomfortable (sank in the middle) and furniture a bit random- not even a bedside lamp!
It is in a lovely location - we had a bit of a sea view from our window and the house has an interesting history (which we found out about ourselves) and has the potential to get a five star rating with a little more love to the room decor and facilities.
We paid the same price for this as for 2 other B&B s which were exceptionally maintained and so really didn’t think this was value for money.

Glad I found this lovely place to use as a base for hiking parts of the John O Groats Trail. Comfortable bed and lovely room. Breakfasts and packed lunches (including home-made pies) were awesome. Situated just off the A9, very close to bus stops for the services going north to Thurso & south to Inverness

Incredible location, sea on one side and fields on the other - lovely quiet spot. Host could not have been more welcoming, really made us feel at home and served a great breakfast! Room was big, clean and comfortable, large windows and high ceilings. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again if we’re in the area, highly recommend.

We booked a double room for one night. We arrived and had room 5 in the attic. Big room but minimal furnishings. Double and single bed plus wardrobe. No chairs, dressing table, pictures or even a mirror! Tiny TV and very small window which hardly opened. Shocked to find that we had to share the bathroom. Poor shower, no extractor and impossible to open the window. No lock on the bathroom door, which proved embarrassing as the other bedroom was also booked. They had taken it over as if it were for their sole use...towels and clothes laid about! Breakfast for us was eggs on toast but shame it has to be plastic white bread! Not worth the £90 paid, certainly compared with the great places we stayed before and after! Cannot recommend this place.

Can’t for the life of me mind the ladies name however we didn’t arrival until about 2am and although check in time was 10pm
Latest the lady was so good and helpful and nothing was to much of a problem! Absolutely nothing we felt as if we were being a pain arriving at that time and her only concerns was that we took our time and got up the road safely! Although I wouldn’t make this standard practice to arrival at a bnb at that time it was nice to know she was accommodating!

We didn’t have breakfast but that was our choice and the bnb owner left out bread milk and juice for us which was a great wee touch! we were out early in the morning but if her breakfast was anything like the service we got it would be pretty dam good!

We went for a little walk down the hill later on our second night there’s a nice bench down the bottom with views over an old house and the beach very nice little community

Modern decent rooms very clean not a mark anywhere shower shower gels and all that provided tea and coffee in the room and even a wee biscuit was good not a complaint to be made highly recommend and thank you for having us!

5 star accommodation !
5 star host!
5 star service!

THANK YOU!!!!! :-)

Out of all the places I stayed during my trip around Scotland, this guest house was just perfect – I loved it! The owners were so accommodating in my earlier arrival and went out of their way to be friendly and welcoming throughout my stay. The accommodation was just perfect after a long drive. The room was spacious and well laid out with the bonus of a luxurious en-suite. The bed was the most comfortable I have slept in and to relax on. The location was fantastic being so close to the most stunning views and tourist attractions and with chickens roaming outside my bedroom window. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and very much looked forward to during my three night stay! The dog and I were extremely happy with our stay. This is one location I would definitely 100% recommend and would have absolutely no hesitation in booking again.

Stopped here on our way from John O'Groats to Inverness. We had not booked but were lucky to get a room. The room was on the 1st floor and comfortable, with a double and single bed. The bathroom was shared but this did not present us with a problem. The facilities were clean and pleasant.
The family who run it were courteous and friendly. The lady who owns it served our full cooked breakfast and was lovely. Breakfast was good and well presented. Lots of other options such as toast, porridge cereal. Tea, coffee & fruit juice also available. They even let us fill our flasks for our onward journey. Would happily recommend to other guests. Thank you for a great stay.
