A small newly opened 12 room hotel just 5 mins from the airport in a residential neighbourhood. By chance I found this hotel to stay at for a 3 week business trip. The Monte Cristo Inn needs exposure as it only opened a month ago. The hotel is spotless, comfortable, welcoming and will be my only choice for a place to stay when I return to this area of Trinidad. It is 10 mins from Trinidad's largest shopping mall and being centrally located it makes travelling around the island easier. Crazy traffic is really the only negative aspect of this country. The hotel has spacious rooms with a small fridge, in house laundry, TV with an endless list of channels, free newer release movies, and a rooftop terrace that is an awesome space to hang out after work in the evening breeze listening to the sound system and sipping a beverage. After 6 trips to Trinidad in the last 2 yrs, this is by far the most comfortable place I've stayed. The owner and his wife built this hotel with care and it shows. They will do what is necessary to make your stay comfortable. Continental brekkie is included, no dining or liquor service as yet, but both are a short distance away by car. Grab a bottle of your favourite beverage at the airport duty free and you'll be set. Trinidad is not a walking country as there are few sidewalks, narrow roads and crazy drivers.

I know this Inn will be popular once the word gets out and I wish the owners success. This is one of the few reviews I have ever written. I hope it helps them and future guests in making a choice for a place to stay.

We were staying overnight in Trinidad on our way to pick up a sailboat charter on St Vincents, and just needed a bed for the night. However this turned out to be a highlight of our trip. Chris, the proud owner and creator of the Montecristo Inn, met us at the airport at 10:30 pm in his black Mercedes. We drove directly to the inn, though he offered to take us to get food, or drinks despite the late hour. But after seeing the beautiful Inn ( only 12 lovely guest rooms) we went to the rooftop terrace, where our fatigue vanished. We sat with Chris , sipped wine and chatted about the island and it’s customs till the wee hours. Skipping the regular breakfast, he took us to a street vendor for “ doubles”, a traditional breakfast, a brief tour. We then picked up Roti takeout for our lunch. I highly recommend the Montecristo. Only a year old, it is clean, comfortable with air conditioned rooms, king beds, private balconies overlooking mango and coconut trees.

Stayed for 7 nights at the Monte Cristo Inn in July, 2017. Was absolutely blown away my entire stay! The hotel was in brand new condition, very clean, comfortable, and in a very convenient and safe location. The owner and his wife are some of the friendliest people you will ever meet. They were extremely hospitable, accommodating, and always made their best effort to ensure we were happy campers. I’ll try to highlight a few of the many benefits of this location below:

Location: Located very near the airport and in a safe area of town. We felt safe the entire time and the property is gated and secured all the way around. After hours, the gate can be closed for security reasons and the doors can only be accessed via key or RFID keys which are provided.

Property: The hotel is very-well-built to the highest building standards. I was thoroughly impressed in the architecture, décor, furniture, A/C units, etc. There was obviously lots of money, time, attention to detail, and effort put into the building to ensure the utmost quality.

The View: One of the nicest features of the hotel is the terrace on the third floor. The view is stunning! You can see the mountains in the distance as well as the airport (planes landing and taking off). It’s a great place to hang out and enjoy the breeze or have dinner outside! At night, it’s a great place for stargazing as well.

Room: The room was well furnished with very comfortable beds, pillows, sheets etc. The A/C worked exceptionally well for the very hot days and the balcony was nice to sit outside and enjoy the outdoors. There was a mini fridge in the room and the TV had lots of different types of on-demand content to enjoy. The bathroom was fully tiled and had a nice sink, vanity, shower, and toilet. All fixtures were modern and functional. Overall, very impressed with the room. I slept like a baby every night during my stay!

Breakfast & Dining: Every morning, breakfast was readily available including fresh fruit, milk, coffee, tea, bagels, toast, cheese, yogurt, and more. The dining room was a very nice place to eat breakfast or dinner. The furniture, lighting, and décor created a nice relaxing atmosphere to enjoy breakfast, dinner, or simply to get some work done.

Summary: Overall, this hotel was by far the best hotel I’ve stayed at in Trinidad. For my future visits, I plan to stay at this Hotel exclusively. My stay was more than pleasant and I got first-class treatment from the owner and his wife! You will enjoy your stay their as well! :)

I have been to Trinidad many times as I have family there. This most recent trip, circumstances prompted me to look for commercial lodging. Well I definitely lucked out when I choose The Montecristo Inn. As I arrived, I was greeted by the owner of the establishment. A really good dude, his name's Chris. I believe he and his wife are the proprietors. She's nice too. Chris showed me around and I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. The hotel is clean, classy, and with a cozy atmosphere. ..it's new.

All of your usual accommodations are included. Air conditioning was my main concern. Not a problem there...they have some awesome remote controlled AC's throughout the entire place. I always felt comfortable.

If you're looking for a place near the airport, The Montecristo Inn should be in your top three. I know for sure the next time I'm in Trinidad, I won't hesitate one bit to book here. I'm quite impressed.

Fed up with overpricing and low service standards by the big chain hotels, I selected this small boutique style hotel, located very close to the airport.
And it was a VERY POSITIVE choice.
Rooms are very clean, well equipped. multiple choice world-wide satellite tv as well as excellent internet connections, most recent repeaters and bandwiths.
free access to water, coffee, tee at any time
Nice selection for breakfast, Very helpful owners for routing tips and other assistance.
Will definitely go back there when my next business trip to Trinidad is due.

Booking late for Carnival, we were thrilled to hear Reva say “yes we have a room for you.” It’s only because this small hotel (12 rooms?) is less than a year old. Once the secret gets out, I’m sure it will be nearly impossible to book at the Montecristo.

All the other reviews have accurately detailed how incredibly hospitable and accommodating Reva and Christopher are. It’s impossible to overstate their warmth and concern for their guests’ personal well-being.

We want to add that the facility is intelligently and tastefully designed with every detail thoughtfully and professionally executed. two examples:

In the upstairs lobby, there are small coolers and a chest of ice for guests to use as they wish ... AND A rubber mallet to loosen up the bags of ice.

On the roof, there is a terrace with tropical plants, umbrellas, quality tables and chairs, and an indoor club room with, yes, more ice and water.

Chris and Reva both came to the airport to pick up the four of us, one in a black Mercedes in the other and gorgeous SUV.
And for our longer journeys into Port of Spain and around the island, they called in their most trusted driver, Rivaldo, who promptly and expertly catered to our every whim over three days.

I could go on forever but the point is ... GRAB a stay at the Montecristo while you can !

This hotel is a perfect stay that is close to the airport (5 mins).
Our experience was very positive.. the Montecristo Inn is super clean, the rooms and common areas are spacious, comfortable. It's all about the details, 5 stars service, free internet wifi, great hot shower water pressure, lovely open air terrace and I cannot say enough about our hosts and their wiliness to excel.
For example in our case I called the hotel at 330am Sunday due to unexpected flight cancelation, explained my family of 6 would like accommodation for the next 10 hours.
The proprietors arrived within 10 mins with 2 cars to shuttle us.
A big thanks to Reba and Chris for making our stay one of the most personal and enjoyable. As a business traveler I was reminded that great experiences comes from the people we interact with. What a great place.

Stayed at Montecristo Inn with extended family and friends.
I have to agree with previous reviewers and their experiences.
We had five rooms overall.
We were safe and secure.
The rooms are spotless and very comfortable.
Very close to the airport...transport to and from airport or around the country is easily arranged as they are well connected to the airport and local community.
Innkeepers assisted us in hosting an enjoyable evening with friends and family on the rooftop terrace which is well designed for functions large or small.
I recommend this inn and its team without reservation.

What a delight! Lovely, quiet hotel in a residential neighborhood close to the airport with a nice, big, clean, affordable room—but the highlight was the world-class service from Reba, Chris and Jesse. There's something about people who make a point of knowing your name and talking with real warmth and interest. Conversations with them—and enjoying a quiet supper one night sitting at one of the rooftop tables, listening to the birds and distant music—were true highlights of my visit to Trinidad. Next time I'm on the island, I'll be back at the Montecristo.
