Kintail Lodge Hotel is your home away from home in the beautiful Scottish Highlands. We have recently completed a refurbishment programme to restore the hotel to its former glory with some new additions. The hotel has a waterfront position at the head of Loch Duich and our entrance and reception rooms have far reaching views down the Loch and over the surrounding hills. Weather permitting, you can enjoy an amazing sunset where the light combination is special to this area. Most of our bedrooms have views over the Loch and you can enjoy breakfast in our Main Room which overlooks the garden and the Loch. Our garden has a children’s play area and your dogs can let off some steam. Our evening meals are served in our Highland Pub which is popular with both locals and visitors and offers a varied menu with homemade, locally sourced produce. Vegetarian and Vegan options are also available. We can accommodate weddings of up to 50 people and meetings up to 30 people in the Main Room. Our Wee Bun House Grab and Go is open Monday to Friday mornings to early afternoon and we have ample parking and a E-charging point. We also have 3 free visitor moorings if you are coming by sea to climb the famous Five Sisters.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Wonderful to go walking in Scotland again after months of lockdown and stay at Kintail Lodge again. They are open despite ever changing restrictions and some ongoing building works. The accommodation is as good as ever with comfortable beds and good quality linen and towels, lashings of hot water to wash the mud off, great food and warm and friendly service. Everywhere is spotless and the Covid compliance is good without being unduly intrusive. Thank you Helen and the team.

Thank you for writing a review and it is great to be able to welcome you back. Helen and her team really appreciate your kind thanks. It has been tough to keep our guests’ stays enjoyable and abide by the guidance as it has put a lot of extra pressure on the team - your recognition of this much appreciated.

Kintail Lodge is a beautiful hotel in an idyllic setting on the shores of Loch Duich surrounded by the majestic Kintail Hills. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable, with lovely large beds. The food is superb with an interesting and wide-ranging menu catering to all tastes; the burger and the banana bread are especially delicious. What makes Kintail Lodge a truly special place is its friendly Highland welcome. Lots of lovely local folk use the bar and it’s a great place to meet and get the craic with everyone. The staff are the kindest, loveliest people you could meet anywhere; they go above and beyond the call of duty to get to know their guests and to help make their stays fun and memorable. The hard-working and fun-filled manager, Helen, is one of the sweetest, liveliest and loveliest people you could ever meet and runs the hotel very efficiently, aided by her lovely collie dog Bailey. Guests can also enjoy great laughs with Paula the Glaswegian chef, Louden the barman and Lauren, the lovely, happy lass in the Bun House (which sells delicious snacks for all your day’s adventures). Staying here is like being part of one big, happy Highland family and always puts the biggest smile on my face.

Popped in for lunch. Absolutely delicious. Husband had macaroni cheese with bacon and garlic bread, and myself fresh battered haddock chips peas and home made tartare sauce. Both meals presented beautifully and did not disappoint. Dog friendly , so our wee Border terrier was welcomed and given his own bowl of water. Wholly recommend!

After a week of torrential rain on my backpacking trip, I was so relieved that Helen, the manager could book me in for 2 nights at very short notice. The room was extremely comfortable and clean, with a bed that was perfect for me. The breakfasts were very good, as were the dinners. Helen and the staff team were very welcoming and helpful. A very pleasant couple of days stay. Thank you.

What a great stay we had at Kintail Lodge Hotel. After a day hiking up the Old Man of Storr on nearby Skye, Kintail Lodge was just the oasis we all needed. Kids and parents enjoyed a delicious meal in the delightful restaurant. Great food and fantastic service. Kids can recommend the fish and chips, adults the mackerel pate followed by grilled halloumi, and the goat cheese followed by lamb curry. The local staff also had useful intel on what to do in the area. Located right on the edge of the loch the views are truly beautiful and we all enjoyed a brisk walk along the beach in the morning, followed by coffee and hot chocolates in the hotel’s Wee Bun House before setting off to visit Eilean Donan Castle which is just around the corner, and continuing our North Coast 500 quest. We look forward to staying at Kintail Lodge Hotel again.

Chose to have a meal here when we saw that half the dishes on the menu were vegetarian and not just the token pasta or risotto. We received a very warm welcome and enjoyed the pie with beautifully cooked root vegetables. Substantial portions and very good value too.

Beautiful setting at the end of the loch. Stopped by for dinner with friends and the food was great: haggis scotch egg and perfectly spiced and generous lamb curry. The hotel is currently undergoing renovation post Covid - we had a sneak peek of the new rooms which looked both stylish and comfortable - so it will only look better on our return. Also good to see that most of the staff are local which meant they were able to give us advice on what to do nearby.

(11/09/23) Kintail Lodge I believe it was the Monday of our trip around the NC 500. Every member of staff that we encountered was lovely the room was probably the most comfortable that we had all week and the Dinner was delicious. So every box ticked and then some. I would recommend to anyone.

We booked for one night but ended up staying two because we liked it so much. Helen, the manager, clearly loved her job and enjoyed helping her guests. We were late arriving back from our walk and she even drove out to Morvich to pick us up. Food was delicious, altho menu could be a bit more varied. Dog was welcomed and spoiled everywhere in hotel, the room had a back door for us to let him straight out, and the drying room was put to good use. The hotel was undergoing major extension and refurbishment so will look forward to visiting again once finished.

We popped into the bar for a drink, after a long day's walking. Really, I expected more after reading past reviews, although to be fair these mostly focus on the accommodation/ restaurant. We almost didn't go in, Bon Jovi was banging out at such a high volume conversation was almost impossible. As the '80s playlist continued into Def Leppard we ordered a couple of pints of bitter. The pain continued when the bill was presented...£13 for two very fizzy pints, which the barman struggled to serve as the beer was so frothy. After multiple attempts at pouring a full pint he gave up and we were left with sub-pint measures, albeit with a fair amount of head. I'm sure the rest of the hotel is fine, but based on the lacklustre welcome, overpriced mediocre beer, zero atmosphere and unecessarily noisy music I'll give it a miss next time. And yes, I'm an '80s rock fan, it's just that there is a time and a place, and this wasn't it.

We are very sorry to hear about your experience at our pub and discussed your concerns with our team, so that they will not be repeated in the future. We would like to make one observation on your review and that is that some of the issues that you mentioned - two under-measured frothy pints and loud music could have been dealt with immediately if you would have mentioned it to our staff, and you could have potentially had a nicer evening (little can be done about the market price of a pint of beer). It’s the phenomenon and power of everyone’s voice on social media that stops people talking to each other in person.

We are situated at the foot of the five sisters so you would end up a couple of hundred yards from our door. To start the walk you need to get a lift or take a bus or your car.
