My partner and I were on a two week holiday and decided we wanted to have a night in a traditional Japanese hotel. This hotel is in the small village of Omachi, about one hour away from Matsumoto by train. Village itself is very small and quiet and feels very Alpine. The hotel was beside a beautiful Little brook and...

A great location to stay before you head on Tateyama Alpine route. They have the best onsen especially their outdoor onsen. Their breakfast comes with an amazing japanese breakfast. They have the best service whereby, our trip was delayed due to the strong wind on Shinkansen, but the front desk provided us the best service when we checked in late....

There is a lot of onsen resort or ryokan around the area, I chose this hotel because it looks very Japanese, I like the local feel, and it didn't let me down. We chose the Japanese tatami room, it was spacious and tidy, the view is great! For the onsen, there is one indoor pool which is very large, and...

I have to say that this is by far the best ryokan we have stayed during our two weeks trip in Chubu. Specially have to mention Ota San, who picked us up at the bus stop of Omachi Onsenkyo, and being very helpful throughout our stay! The hotel offers indoor and outdoor public bath, and also a foot bath. The...

Stayed here one night before going ahead for the Alpine route. This ryokan-hotel hybrid is architecturally beautiful. We chose the Akane guestroom and is of a 12-tatami size, which is quite big for two. If you check on the web the smallest room of Murasaki still have 10-tatami size which is pretty much adequate for two to three persons. The...

We stayed in this hotel after finishing Tateyama Alpine Route. The room is woww.. Japanese stye room with a private onsen bath viewed to the river. It was really beyond our expectation. The staffs there were great but hardly speak English. Thanks to Ota San, he was the one who helped us in most of the communication and also help...

This is a traditional Japanese inn (Ryokan) located in a hot spring area. From the welcome when you first arrive, to the tatami matted room, the local banquet, the communal bath and the final sayonara, you’ll experience Japanese country hospitality. One has to remove one’s shoes and store them in allocated boxes before going on the tatami matted corridor leading...

“Though the rooms with a private bath are expensive, the price is comparable to other nice Japanese inns (especially when you consider that the multi-course dinner is included in the room rate). It is a luxurious and relaxing experience and I highly recommend it!”
