I stumbled upon this Ryokan when searching for a hotel room for the Nagano marathon. I am so glad I found it, and that my family and our visiting relatives from Scandinavia decided to come along. We all had a fabulous time in Togura-Kamiyamada Onsen....More

Our group of six had a wonderful stay at the Kamesei Ryokan. Tyler picked us up from the train station and helped us find a good dinner option. We loved the room and enjoyed the onsen which we basically had to ourselves both nights. We...More

Hannah-san, Thank you for coming and enjoying our traditional inn as well as our onsen town Togura-Kamiyamada. Our town has so many great restaurants that it's hard to choose which one to enjoy, but we also highly suggest trying our chef's kaiseki-style dinner at least...More

Everyone told me I had to stay at a Ryokan when I visited Japan this August of 2016. Sadly, a lot of them were already booked, just for couples, and/or between $400 and $800 a night. Kamesei Ryokan had room for me, accepted single travelers,...More

mistasean-san, Thank you for 'finding' our ryokan here in our little onsen town of Togura-Kamiyamada.
As you indicate, our town still has a ways to go to make it on to the global tourist map -- 98% of the town's guests are Japanese. But the...More

Thank you for your inquiry regarding Kamesei Ryokan. We provide free shuttle service to/from Togura Station which is 25 minutes from Nagano Station. From Nagano Station, it is a 2km walk or bus ride to Zenkoji Temple. Other popular side trips include the Jigokudani Wild Monkey Park (aka "Snow Monkeys"), 45 min. bus to the trailhead, and Togakushi for the gigantic cedar trees lining the path to the Inner Shrine as well the Ninja center, 1 hour by bus.
We can also provide shuttle service for Obasute Station which is a 45 minute train ride from Matsumoto for seeing the castle there.
Alternatively, from Obasute S.A. on the Nagano Expressway, it is possible to take a bus to Kamikochi in the Japanese Alps for the day.
So we are centrally located to many great locations in Nagano.
If you have any other questions, feel free ask.
