Dine at El Castillo’s own restaurant, Castillo’s Kitchen, a Chef’s Table concept mastering the evolution of Costa Rican cuisine. Experience elements of Costa Rica in every dish in a new and innovative way. Chef Pablo will dazzle you. Welcome to the jungle and about three percent of the biodiversity on this side of the planet. If you prefer wildlife over nightlife, this is the place for you. Whale watching, snorkeling, hiking, deep-sea fishing, zip lining, surfing, kayaking, beach combing, and sea turtle viewing are all within minutes of El Castillo.

WOW!!! First time to Costa Rica and to El Castillo, it will not be our last!!! The amazing views, words cannot begin to express the magnitude of the beautiful scenery. Waking up to the Howler monkey's, sitting in the pool watching Macaw's flying by to feeding the pet iguana Charlie bananas.... I could go on and on.... This is a true boutique hotel. It's beautiful, quaint, quiet but the one thing that stands out beyond measure is their customer service. From the moment Roxanna greeted us to giving us hugs when leaving, their customer service is beyond suburb. The entire staff was so professional, never missing any attention to detail. G was Roxie's other half and he was amazing as well. Even though I don't speak very much Spanish, they were always there to make me feel comfortable and even taught me some things. The Chef, can't say anything but amazing! Very, Very talented! Again, cannot say enough what a wonderful experience. We are planning our next trip! It's a must experience. Keep in mind, you are visiting Pure Vida.... life slows down so you can enjoy... it's not life in the fast lane so if you are coming from the states, get ready to slow it down. It's a journey, not a rat race. Absolutely amazing experience! Thank you El Castillo, we will see you again soon!!

Hotel's Favourite
What an amazing hotel and experience. We spent 3 nights here and would have stayed more if we weren’t meeting friends in another town. The absolute best part of El Castillo is the people. The level of service they strive for is impeccable and they exceed it at every turn. LUIS and STEPHEN are my 2 favorite people on the planet now. They are kind, earnest and personable. Any request we had they made sure to fulfill. Learning it was my birthday they surprised me with dessert and a round of “Happy Birthday to You!” They enjoyed practicing their English, though it was excellent, and helped us brush up on Spanish words. We will miss them immensely and hope you will tell them hi when you stay here! Rebecca is the manager and she is also fantastic. She offered help with tours, transportation and recommendations. She is very professional and a huge asset to the hotel. The rest of the staff is also friendly, helpful and professional but I was not able to catch every name. And Charlie the iguana-like reptile who hangs out by the pool is who I want to be in my next life. :) The hotel itself is beautiful. Fantastic views of the ocean and the river that empties into it. You can see the tides change and the river go out into the sea all day come back all day so the landscape changes. The furnishings are so tastefully done and make you feel comfortable and right at home. We loved sitting in a number of spots around the main house and just enjoying the view and conversation with our friends. We stayed in the spa suites and loved the privacy. They were decorated in a more modern style but still our rooms felt cozy. I definitely recommend staying in both of these suites if you are traveling with another couple. The food was excellent. We ate dinner here 2 nights. We especially loved the breakfast every morning. I don’t think it gets better than coffee overlooking the ocean and pool.

We visited El Castillo for our anniversary. It is a charming hotel with a marvelous view. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We felt very spoiled. Carlos, Albert, Kembli and Wilma took care of every detail. We had a lovely ocean view room with a balcony. We didn’t step off the property for three days and enjoyed it immensely. We highly recommend this hotel.

This is a gorgeous hotel with amazing views, and amazing people working. From the moment I walked in to the moment I left, i felt like I had just gotten home to people who care, like a nice Thanksgiving dinner before the arguments start. The infinity pool is a showpiece and i could have stayed in it all afternoon.

We were blown away by the beauty of this hotel from the moment we arrived. The views are stunning from every angle. We received such a warm greeting from the staff, welcoming us into the beautiful open air lobby, that has a cute little bar and beautiful open air restaurant. All the windows and doors were wide open exposing the views of the pool and ocean, it was so refreshing. Right away they offered us mid day coffee and cookies, as well as offering us each a welcome cocktail on the house. We opted for the cocktails and they were delicious! This is a small boutique hotel and has a very intimate feel, which we loved! At times we felt like the only guests there, and were treated with undivided attention . We stayed in the 2bdrm owners suite, and it was the perfect size for our family of 4. The room was clean and beautifully decorated with a very authentic feel. The housekeeping arrived daily to tidy up and leave us clean towels. They also were kind enough to do some laundry for us. We really appreciated this service since we were traveling for 10 days. Breakfast was included in our stay and we were blown away by this as well! They brought us each a plate of fresh fruit, a different fresh juice everyday, coffee and the menu options were fabulous! We each tried something new every day, and loved it all! We also enjoyed our dinners here the 3 nights that we stayed and the food was equally amazing! Overall, it was an incredible experience. We loved all the staff, they were so friendly, kind and accommodating. They knew our names and made us feel like family. We even had some hugs in the end. I would come back here in a heartbeat!

After reading reviews, I expected that my wife and I would enjoy the stay. I will say that our expectations were exceeded in all areas. We chose the larger room and it was tastefully decorated, with beautiful views of the ocean on one side and the mountains on the other. Very comfortable, high quality firm bed. Dinner was of gourmet quality and the breakfast was a full service feast with many choices. I commend Rebecca Villalobos and the staff she has assembled. I’ll make a statement that is hard to believe but true. Rebecca has trained the staff to provide a service level commensurate with the finest hotels in the world. She also trained the chef and her recipes are used. This hotel provides a totally unique experience and I can’t use enough superlatives to truly do it justice. We live part time in the country but I will find reasons to revisit many times in the future.
