Our room (with facilities) overlooked a creek and a spectacular display of autumnal colours. This scene was only augmented by a beautiful red bridge outside the front door. Breakfast (downstairs in the meals area) was a mix of Asian and European dishes - and a healthy selection. Dinner (served in the room) was quite delicious - traditional fare, with an...

A perfectly relaxing two night stay at this beautiful Ryokan. Top class food & excellent service with special mention to our lovely house maid Goto. This really is a special place, the only downside I can think of is the hard futon beds but this is Japan so to be expected. I was concerned being a non smoker the fact...

We stayed for three nights, every night was a joy. The staff were a perfect example of hospitality, chef gave us a beautiful and different meal for both breakfast and dinner, they remembered our preferences, efficiency was exemplary, this is what an hotel should be. Onsen lovely. Excellent value for money. Thank you to all of you.

We are so glad we stayed here, our only regret was only staying for one night. We arrived about 2pm and dropped our bags and headed for the cable car up the mountain. I would definitely get her earlier if you can and see some of the sights if you can only do one night. We Checked in about 330,...

Unforgetable experience you will cherish during your whole life. Just take one of the bungalows, not a room in may building (better to pretend it is just not there). Think of it as a one shot, one night with the highest level of service available worldwide. Our aknowledgement to Hiratā and to all the team. Amazing natural environment (including deers...

traditional Japanese hotel situated adjoining woods in a tranquil valley a 15 minute walk from ferry terminal. this doesn't really have a traditionnal Ryokan feeling as it looks a bit like a resort-Ryokan. So you won't get that Edo era back in time feeling. Their public onsen can't be privatized only for you, so it might be challenging depending on how comfortable you feel naked around strangers :) I don't know why they did not put curtains...

We stayed here during our honeymoon and we absolutely loved it. It is super cute and the staff are amazing. The food was delicious and it was so fun to wear the traditional outfits and eat in our room. We will definitely never forget our experience. I really enjoyed the baths and we had an amazing day checking out the...

This place was very expensive, so I waited until I had experienced another, cheaper ryokan before I reviewed. I concluded that Iwaso is good, better than some other ryokans, but not quite enough to justify the high price tag. Miyajima is beautiful though, and I understand that Iwaso is the only ryokan on the island with its own onsen. My...

First let me say that Miyajima is a beautiful little island I highly recommend escaping to. We took the bullet train from Kyoto to Hiroshima and toured the museum and atomic site. Do yourself a favor and figure out lunch ahead of time or better yet pack a lunch. After the museum we headed into town and could not find...
