Love this onsen and here are the reasons why 1. Private bath! - This is extremely for me as I still find it difficult to go to a public bath. There are 3 private baths here, one of them have a rock pool and the other two with cypress wood. I like the stone bath the most as it has... More

Osawa Onsen consists of three inter-connected ryokan (Japanese inns). Sansuikaku is the newest, most modern, and most Western-friendly of the three ryokan -- go there, Western visitor! The Japanese-style lodgings at Sansuikaku are traditional, but also plenty comfortable. Our spacious room featured tatami mats and shoji screens, large plate-glass window views onto the Toyosawa River, modern in-room toilets and sinks,... More

I've just spent one night at the Ozawa onsen and I feel like I have been away for a week. The hot springs are wonderful, there are 6 of them and one is outside and mixed bathing. They try to look after foreigners and the staff are so friendly. One of the staff can communicate in passable English. The food was exquisite some of... I was here for a work party and managed to get a room all to myself. After enjoying a delicious traditional Japanese meal and several dips in the various baths (definitely head over to the Jisuibu section for the outdoor mixed bath) it was a pleasure to wake up to the sounds of the river outside my window. Beautiful rooms,... More

This was our first onsen hotel in Japan and this is where we started to immediately appreciate onsens! This place seems to be quite traditional and I think that not that many westerners are coming here, so the staff knows very little English. But with some hand gestures and the very few Japanese words we did know, things did work... More

My husband and I, my parents and my aunt had an excellent stay with good hot spring bath that made our skin so smooth and delicious food. The rooms were spacious and the view from the room overlooking a river and trees was beautiful and peaceful. Since each room had a main room as well as the secondary room, I... More

Many onsen hotels in Japan try to be like this but not many are this good. The basic set up is familiar. The hotel sits on one bank of a river, overlooking the other bank. In many Japanese hotels the effect is ruined by an ugly clutter of buildings intruding on the view, but the view from our bedroom was... More

I stayed 2 nights and really enjoyed my time there ;) Staff was very efficient, courteous and there was a front office member who was fluent in English. Room was huge and nicely decorated with Japanese folk artefacts. It also came with Japanese ensuite bathroom and overlooked the river ;) Both dinner and breakfast were served into my room and...
