Detailed Reviews
We stayed seven nights at The Engine House cottage during our five weeks' trip to UK and Ireland. The cottage is spacious and very clean. There is a fully equipped kitchen for you to cook your meals if you wish to. The living space is large and comfortable, the bed is cosy and the bathroom is spacious and clean. The location is very peaceful with good views of beautiful farms and shops, pubs and restaurants located close by. The city of Bath is just about a ten minutes' drive. There is a laundry also for those on long vacations. Debbie and Tim are lovely hosts and take care of all your needs.
We would stay there another time if in Timsbury.
Highly recommended!!

We had a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing stay at Withy Mills Farm. The cottage was just as good as previous reviews had suggested- I had very high expectations and was not at all disappointed. Everything was exactly as described, information given clearly, and the cottage was comfortable and had everything we needed for a relaxing few days away from it all. Great location - we enjoyed a trip into Bath and some nice country walks, and plenty of time enjoying the peace and quiet of the farm itself and the cosy log fire. Debbie was very responsive to messages, helpful and accommodating even in response to a last minute change to our booking (a tag-along toddler). Highly recommended!

We stayed at Barleycorn in September 2024. Fabulous conversion with underfloor heating which kept us pleasantly warm. The room sizes were generous and a powerful walk in shower.
The farm is ideally placed for visiting Bath, Bristol and Wells in a peaceful location but not far from the village. Fish and chip shop efficient and very good, with a well stocked Co-op. If we come this way again, would definitely return here. Would recommend using the park and ride into Bath or Bristol.

We booked the Engine Room cottage for a week to attend a family wedding. We have stayed in many self catering properties over the years and usually have been underwhelmed by the standard of the accommodation. In the case of Withy Mills cottages we were absolutely delighted. The cottage was everything it was advertised as and more. Debbie was very helpful but unobtrusive. The location was perfect for the wedding at Priston Mill and also for visiting the surrounding area. Our stay was very relaxing. The facilities in the cottage were excellent, good WiFi, underfloor heating, log burner, dishwasher and a never-ending supply of hot water. We were even able to have a guest on the night of the wedding as one of the sofas unfolds to a bed. The laundry facilities in the 'Piggery' came in very handy. We would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a quiet peaceful break away from it all.

We stayed here on a long weekend to Bath and couldn't have had a better stay! We were welcomed with scones and tea, which was perfect after a long drive. The cottage was beautiful, the kitchen well-equipped and the bed super-comfortable. Loved the underfloor heating and the enormous pile of logs for the fire - we were cosy for the entire time! It was a great break away in peace and quiet.

We didn't want to stay in Bath or Bristol so this was perfect.
LOCATION: Just outside a large village called Timsbury Bottom. I wouldn't say that the village is particularly attractive as it has a mismatch of houses including ugly 70s ones. It does have two local shops including a Co-op with parking behind. I did set my Sat Nav to Co op Timsbury Bottom so that I didn't get lost getting there.
The cottages are 5 miles from Bath so we used the cottage as a base to drive towards Bath (using the Sat Nav again) which took us passed Odd Down Park&Ride where we parked the car and got a bus into the centre of Bath (£3.20 each mid-week, £2.50 weekend - you pay on the bus)
The Sat Nav was used to get to the cottage and it did indeed; bringing us to the turning with Withy Mills Farm sign and a drive down a pot holed one track road. The only improvement, apart from the track, would be a sign as to where to park when you arrived as it is either straight on in front of the cottages or a right turn and I think lots of different people arrived in their cars at the same time and we all got it wrong.
You will however, go WOW as the cottages are nestled in a lovely area.
THE COTTAGES: There are three cottages in one line (Engine House - the smallest, Wharfinger - middle one and Whippletree cottage - the biggest at the end)
I think the thing to say is that the cottage inside and outside look like the website photos ( I have been to many cottages where the cottage is a tatty run down version of the glossy website photos but not here.)
WHIPPLETREE COTTAGE: We loved this. It has a wood burning stove, fridge, dishwasher, hairdryer and tea/coffee/sugar is provided. There are two rooms, one of the Mezzanine level upstairs and one on the ground floor (it can be either a twin or a double). There is one shower room with an electric shower and a TV/DVD machine so bring some films along to watch.
The front of the cottages overlook the farmhouse and courtyard (and chickens!) and the rear over fields. Each cottage has a terrace area where you can sit outside with a glass of wine and watch the sun go down.
A basket of wood is provided with the wood burning stove and another can be purchased for £5. You can also buy the farm eggs. We missed the farm tour so organise this well in advance not on the day as we tried to do as the farmer was out. The scones and cream on arrival are very welcomed.
It is very very quiet - although the other two cottages were occupied we didn't hear a thing. We loved it so thanks.

We booked this accommodation (Whippletree cottage) Friday to Monday for 4 of us on the strength of the trip advisor reviews. We were definitely not disappointed. The cottage was lovely, very clean, and better than expected and the beds were very comfortable. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great (showery) and a little cold in the evening so we used the wood burning fire which was very easy to light and gave out tremendous heat making the cottage more cosy. The location is so peaceful, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this accommodation and hope to return in the future, and maybe try one of the other cottages if there is only 2 of us. Loved it !!!!

We hired all three cottages over the weekend of 10th -13th May as a base for our daughters wedding at Priston Mill . It was perfect in every sense . Debbie made sure everything was in place for the big day including a full length mirror ! The bridesmaids stayed in one cottage , our daughter in one and Mum and Dad with usher son in the larger one which also served as a brilliant base for visiting hair and make up plus for preparations on the big day . The large balcony area in the larger cottage worked really well as a dressing area. The cottages are in a very tranquil setting with superb views over the surrounding countryside . Woodburning fires and freshly made scones on arrival all made it a perfect choice for our special weekend .Thank you .

On my 6th trip to England, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Wharfingers Cottage was the best of all my previous rentals! Having picked it online, it was all I wished for, quaint, in a glorious setting and furnished to a high standard with everything I could need for a 3 week stay. The owner was so helpful in every way, making my solo stay worry free. The a fire in the woodstove to start the day and a leisurely bath in the jacuzzi tub were the beginning and end of each relaxing day. The view from the front was exquisite, a vista of the green valley welcomed me to the start of each day. The proximity to a Park & Ride was especially helpful for me to get bus service to Bath, Bristol and anywhere I wanted to go without the hassle of worrying about petrol and parking fees. Walks in the country lanes and around the farm provided an added chance to refresh and exercise. It will be with nostalgia I will remember my time there and I hope to have the opportunity to come back in the future.

The stone outbuildings at Withy Mills Farm have been beautifully converted into three self catering units. We stayed in Whippletree Cottage. The owner has put a lot of attention and care into choosing the décor and the furnishings. Everything is on a farm or countryside theme. There is under floor heating and a wonderful wood burning stove, which my grown up daughter enjoyed learning how to light and keep alight. The cream tea on arrival was lovely (and it included a jug of milk).
The cottage is an easy drive from the Bath park and ride at Odd Down on the outskirts of Bath.
This cottage would not be very suitable for young children - the stove gets very hot and there isn't much safe outside space. There is also a high gallery bedroom. A very good place for a short break for me and my daughter though. I would definitely stay there again.
