The Andaman is at the quiet end of Sunrise Beach which is definitely the best location as the beach is wide and there are almost no longtail boats moored here. Safe swimming and good for snorkeling especially around the remains of the concrete jetty. There are resorts all along the beach but just to the south of the Andaman the beach narrows and there are hundreds of longtail boats which come and go all day long - almost impossible to swim or snorkel here. If you can afford it take a bungalow right at the front - well worth it to wake up in the morning right on the beach. The bungalows are spacious and clean with a huge bathroom with hot water. The AC worked well - almost too powerful! Good fridge in room which we found very useful. There are no safety deposit boxes in the rooms but to be honest there was no evidence of crime/theft anywhere on the island. We always felt safe there. Walking Street is a short 10 minute walk along a lighted track.
Only a couple of negative points: the restaurant is not great and they need more sunbeds on the beach as it's always an early morning fight if you want one for the day. The restaurant not really an issue as there are so many eateries to choose from nearby. The staff have limited English (which is normal) but nevertheless they always tried to be helpful. A great place to stay. We'll definitely go back there.

Room Tip: Beach front bungalows. Best sea views but still very private.

The resort is expensive but my guess is due to its location. Located on kind of a private beach, on sunrise beach. The resort is strategically located for if you walk to the right you get to see sunrise, left is the sunset. Also walking distance to walking street. The beach is clean and beautiful, The restaurant/bar is only open til 8pm. No 24hrs service. If you wish to head to walking street or pattaya beach and dislike walking, be prepared to pay 50baht . the walking street is about 700m from the hotel. for snorkelling or fish watching, head to the left of the resort till you reach the zodiac hotel. The drawback of this resort, is the unfriendly hotel receptionist. they dont provide toiletries and hot drink sachets after 1 night until you ask. its a minus point if you are staying there few nights. The deluxe beach villa has a hammock. wifi is lousy

We just left the resort this morning and I feel like writing quickly a report as it is was almost empty when we left.
The past reviews are not accurate anymore as the management changed and the island also..
Pattaya beach is still a no stay as it is full of boats, with a doubtful water and not exotic anymore as it is to crowded.. Great place to watch the sunset and have dinner though..
Sunset Beach is quite the opposite, dead and a little sad. Some resorts have not reopened after the covid.
Sunrise beach is the only option today but, through the years it has become a long boats parking. Almost half of the beach is a parking!!
The extreme right, when you watch the sea has one or 2 resorts without boats. But they seem to be high end family resorts.
And you have the left, starting from the Lipe Beach resort, the neighbour of the Andaman until the end at the Mountain resort. That's 10 resorts, not more and a few seem to be very expensive and high end.
The beach of the Andaman is beautiful, no boats and clear water. You enjoy swimming in front of the bungalows.
The best of the best swim, under the mountain resort, is less than 10mn away.
We slept in the bungalow B1, right on the beach: all the comfort you need from wifi in the room to a good aircon, toilet, excellent bed and big windows. And a great hamac where I spent so much time!! For less than 4000 Baths.
We extended our stay from 5 nights to 10.
Regarding breakfast, we took it next door, at the Lipe Beach resort. Great breakfast in what appears to be a great resort as well (without boats!!)
The owner of the resort, very friendly and helpful, just arrived a couple of days ago. Maybe a good breakfast and a real restaurant will be in play when you visit.
The girl taking care of you at the reception does not speak english but she has such a beautiful smile and is so friendly that you manage very well with her.
But, with the beach and the comfort of the room and the breakfast next door we had a perfect stay!!!
Last, but not least, Ko Lipe has become a construction site. It is everywhere and can be quite noisy. Do not book to many days as you may have to change resort if there is construction noise.

I have stayed on every resort on Sunrise beach, and this is the worst one. Argumentative staff, including the waiters. The worst food I had in a resort on the island. Extremely slow service. Old, tired, ugly rooms. Non existent wifi. Avoid.

I've just come back from 4 nights at the Andaman on Koh Lipe. Having arrived with no reservation and spending several hours walking up and down sun rise beach looking for a reasonably priced room (expect to pay 1,800+ bht for an aircon room just off the beach which was a little steep for us) we finally got one of the 900bht concrete bungalows on the beach.

This was fan only and so the room was very hot but manageable, the bed was hardest I've ever slept on, almost like sleeping on the floor with a mattress protector on top but you got used to it after a night or two. Our pillows were also awful and hard (like sofa cushions) but we spoke to reception and they gave us nice new soft ones so was all good there.

The bathrooom did smell pretty bad which no amount of cleaning could get rid of but as long as the door was kept closed it was ok.

So the room wasn't amazing but for 900 bht it was a lot better than some of the others we saw. I would have been very disappointed however if we'd paid 2,000 bht which was the price for the same room but with aircon!!

As with the room the restaurant isn't amazing and seemed to close at about 7pm but the fact is that none of this matters in the slightest. The Andaman is in the most stunning spot on the island by far. Unlike further up the beach which felt a little crampt, outside the Andaman there is a good 200 meters of almost deserted beach with nice wooden sun loungers shaded with either parasols or palm trees.

By far the most beautiful place I've ever been and until I'm willing to spend £300 a night for a beach bungalow at Serendipity the Andaman will more than do.

The title says pretty much everything. First impression wasn't bad and because we were already tired of looking for the bungalows on Ko Lipe, we decided to stay at Andaman's and it was a bad decision I have to say.
We travel quite much but have never met so rude, annoying, money oriented and cheeky receptionist and the entire staff. They tread you as you were free ATM for them! All we've heard from the receptionist was: Pay, pay, pay! Upon arrival she lied to us by informing that only middle-shelf bungalows are available while it wasn't true as we have later discovered. Bungalows with A/C were relatively clean I have to admit, but that's all about positives. Breakfast was a joke: slop instead of coffee, horrible juice, dirty dishes, limited availability and it was all served till... 9:30 while you're on holidays! Plenty of staff wondering around and playing with their smartphones but when you ask for anything there is no one to help. Check-out at 10:00 am (why not 7:00?) When we asked why is the Wi-Fi constantly unavailable, the receptionist told us that too many people use it at the same time (1 person drinking coffee was in sight at that moment). Next morning she changed the version of her story by saying that wi-fi accident happened. Fortunately, by that time we've decided not to stay there any longer. 40+ cm rat sniffing around our balcony at night has really helped us to make the right decision. We have moved to other resort (Coco) which offered completely different sort of service and which I can highly recommend to anybody. Please, think twice before you step into Andaman's.

One of the best beaches!

We stayed in one of the blue older concrete bungalows (one of the 2 single ones in the first row on the beach) for 6 nights.

This review probably only applies to the low season. I am not sure if the place was even officially open. The restaurant was closed and we were the only guests in the whole resort.

Therefore we had the whole beach to ourselves and the place was really cheap. High season prices will probably be completely different.

- huge bungalow
- great veranda
- aircon and fan
- TV (but useless as there were only thai channels)
- clean
- warm water

-> horrible rock hard matress and pillows
-> you have to keep the local dogs from the veranda as they adopt you as their new owner as soon as you move into the bungalow ;-)

My family and I went to this hotel on 9/4/16-11/4/16.We were welcomed with the plain ice water and our bags were picked up by the staff from the boat. After checked in the staff brought us to the room(Family room) of 3 beds. The room is spacious but the matress was so hard.it feels like sleeping on the floor.I can't find toilet flush so i use pail fill with water. The aircond is ok. Tv is there. No water kettle and they just provided 3 drinking waters. They will top up the bottle everyday.Wifi is only at the restaurant and beacfront. You are lucky if you can get the wifi at your room which i am not.The beach is very clean and beautiful.I suggest you bring your own snorkeling gear. If you try to go quite further from the beach you could see the live corals and beautiful fish. I found a group of Nemo! The breakfast is average in taste and choices. Most of the staff do not know English. It is very hard to find one. Some of them know Malay Langguage which is comman there because Koh Lipe and Malaysia are nearby.

I paid around 700 baht per night for a basic wooden hut on the back row of this resort in March 2011. It was very basic - hard bed, old toilet, cold water, broken fan etc but these huts had a great balcony with (limited) views of the sea and beach and out of the blazing hot sun, under some trees. There are however concrete bungalows, and having spoke with a couple who stayed in these, they seemed to enjoy their stay. The price for these better rooms was way above my budget, but if you can afford it this would be a great choice because my only gripe is with the basic accomodation.

Being on Lipe, you probably won't be spending much time in your room so if you can live with a basic hut, this is a great choice. However it is a fair stroll to the shops to get beer and supplies. The food was decent, but if you get into Lipe walking street you will find that the water, beer, cigarrettes are half of what this resort charge (as you would expect).

This resort also own their own boat, so just let them know when you want to depart and they will drive you (50B) around the island and direct to the offshore platform where you will catch your speed boat.

We booked the room for, thank god, only 1 night. It was villa A number V13. The villa was very dirty, we had to ask for bedlinnen ourselves since only the matrass was covered, ok there was a woolen blanket, but who wants to ly under that?? Blehhhhh! There was a lot of cobweb hanging from the ceiling, maybe left from Halloween??
I was not ok with the room and asked to see another room, this was difficult because everything was full, allthough the agoda site said otherwise! Finally they showed me a garden view bungalow, number D41, this one looked like something from the movie Bangkok Hilton!!
The breakfast, you need a coupon wich we did not get and so had to ask for that again, was very very very basic but the omelet was nice.
The beach where the resort is at is beautiful but you can also enjoy this when not staying in this horrible resort.

Note that we are backpackers and used to staying in basic hotels/hostels but this was unacceptable for the asking price.
For this kind of money you would expect nice and clean accomodation and staff that would make some effort!!!
