We stayed here for an extended weekend. The accommodation was far better than I expected. The room was very spacious with a sofa and double bed. Only drawback was the storage, next to the door and not very big, no drawers and limited shelving (Travelodge style). Good sized TV and dressing table. En-suite was spacious as well, good size bath with shower. The bed was very comfortable and heating/cooling system fairly easy to master. Never bothered by external noise.

Stayed here for two nights whilst visiting the Midland Game Fair which is only a few minutes drive down the road. Hotel is nice, modern and very clean. Typical Marston check in where you have to pop into the pub to do so. Room amenities include TV, kettle, tea, coffee, biscuits and bottled water.

The restaurant/pub is a busy one. We ate here both nights, had the steak deal on the first night (2 x steak meals plus bottle of wine for £22). My steak was very poor but hubbys was fine. We also had a sharing platter which was ok.

Carvery on Sunday which was clearly very popular. I think they have a carvery every day of the week here? It was available on Saturday also. I couldn’t fault the carvery, extensive selection. Fresh and tasty.

My only gripe, is that some (a very small number) of the staff came across as very grumpy. One waitress didn’t speak to us at all when she attended our table a couple of times, even though we spoke to her and thanked her she didn’t say one word back but was happily chatting away to other colleagues. I’m quite big on customer service, it makes a big difference to an individuals experience.

Had a carvery here the pub itself is a nice place but the carvery there is not good staff all the stuffing was like a rock had to saw through it but didn’t succeed would need a junior hacksaw and that’s no joke. The other food in the carvery was very limited and not that good.

Checking in was an issue as the pub was very busy and reception is at the end of the bar.
Should advise customers not to take bags from car until checked in.
Room was clean and comfortable but was missing a case rack or drawers/more shelves and paper tissues.
WiFi was difficult to get on to but once logged in was fine.
Needs a notice somewhere in the accomodation giving times of Breakfast.
Breakfast was great in choice and quality.
All Staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Used this hotel as a half way stop off on our journey to North Wales, the rooms were lovely nice and roomy well lit and a lovely bathroom, and very clean, nice and secure as you have to use your room key twice before you can get in to hotel, only down side was you had to climb in bath for the shower. Went to pub for our meal, we chose the steak deal ,steak meal chips and mushroom and tomato bottle of wine £20 , steak wasn't great but enough for both of us, good value place to eat, nice place for couples and families.
