Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Returning customers! Hotel our base for attending the NEC at Birmingham, great train links. Local town Penkridge a short bus ride away or £8 in a taxi, great pubs. Ate in the Spread Eagle on night one, staff very friendly, carvery tasty and fresh and good value. Room very clean, spotless in fact. Fluffy towels, comfortable bed, hot shower. All cleaned and refreshed whilst we were out on the second day. On line check in saves time on arrival. We will definitely be returning.

Stayed in a disabled room which was, in the whole, pretty good. The only issues I have are the fact that the plugs and USB sockets are located low level underneath a shelf. This makes them very difficult to access, especially if you are disabled. The only other issue is the fact that the disabled spaces are always taken up by worker’s vans or the usual BMW, Audi, Mercedes type cars. Not the fault of the hotel, just the ignorant, lazy drivers.

Same day booking on a last minute trip to alton towers, which is about 45 minutes drive away. We wanted to travel down the night before to break up the journey. We had a straightforward check in, accommodation felt very secure and no noise from other rooms, hallways or the road. Family deluxe room very lovely, worth the few £ extra for being so spacious and nicely decorated etc. Rooms itself very clean, beds comfortable and made for a great nights sleep. Minor negatives; toilet wasn't clean or flushed, still had p in and bin still had last guests rubbish in. Hospitality tray wasn't very well stocked and we didn't have enough cups for the amount of guests but I put that down to us late booking and the housekeeping staff not knowing how many were coming in; nice chap in the bar kindly got us what we needed. Breakfast was discounted as we booked direct; extremely reasonable and good choice for both the meat eaters and the veggies of the family. Mugs at breakfast needed a good bleach, all very brown and stained inside. Overall really pleasant , small minor things which could be easily sorted but didn't ruin a perfectly acceptable stay. Overall impressed with marstons accommodation and wouldnt hesitate to stay here or at another in future. All staff we came accross most courteous and friendly

Good location if visiting Wolverhampton, Cannock or Telford, located right next to Gailey roundabout. Very good price if booked via Marston's web site and discount on all food. Room was very clean and fresh, reminded us of what Premier Inns originally used to be like, years before Covid. Couldn't fault it and good/plenty of free parking, good staff, good breakfast/evening carvery as well!

Overall it was a great experience. I booked 4 nights from Wed-Sun, and given how ‘cheap’ the price was, I was genuinely astounded to see the quality of the room. The layout of the room is perfect and it is immaculately clean, and has everything you could need. The only issue I had was my card to get into the hotel didn’t work on the second evening, but one of the members of staff from the pub came and got that sorted quickly for me so that was good service. I will definitely recommend Marston Inns based on this experience and I’ll be back in the future myself. Amazing.
