We just checked in in the hotel. 10 minutes outside on the son with a baby because the door was locked and no one at the reception. At the end the cleaning lady came to open. She called the owner to give us the rooms and surprise! They were waiting for us yesterday?! Than they convinced (after me presenting documents of the booking and payment) that our reservation is for today. They give us the first available room, small, old, two hard and tiny beds (not at all a double) and no cradle for our son. They told us that they will bring the cradle (I hope they will). General infos about near villages were given, no restaurant available were we are. Than every one disappeared. No one at the reception, no one in the hotel. Just the cleaning lady that only speaks Portuguese. No infos about the breakfast, if there is any. Dark and tiny room with bathroom with no windows. Seriously disappointed, not a 4 star.…
If you go to visit Castelo De Vide and Marvao villages and castles you must come to stay in this boutique hotel. It is kept by a lovely couple who give you all their warm loving welcome feeling. All the hotel and our rooms were syperbly and tastefully decorated with antique household elements: vases, pots, benches, scales, etc. Smallest details were thought through to give us best emotions: slippers, bathrobes, body lotion. It was also very very very clean! We took two rooms so we got an extra key to connect them into one unit. It was very convenient for the family. We were recomended to have dinner at the small village tavern with amazing but rather unexpensive food. And afterwards we were straling though the village on the late night hours. All the inhabitants were getting outdoors after the hot day. Music started playing in the local bar. Old lovely ladies talking on the doorsteps. Marvao castle in the distanc. It was so real so romantic and simple village of Sao Antonio das Areias! I will come here atleast once more!…
We note the overall favourable reviews however travelers early in the season should be aware of our experience. Our assigned room smelled musty and we were advised that the restaurant was closed and would have to drive 5km for dinner. After looking at one of their other rooms and walking the village to confirm there was indeed no other restaurant we decided we did not want to go so far to eat and then have to drive back to a musty building where we were the only guests. Our decision was to cut our losses and move to another hotel in Marvao. In our mind the rooms should have been aired out and we should have been alerted beforehand that we could neither eat at the hotel nor in the village.
Beautiful decorated hotel, lovely and helpful crew willing to help in any aspect. Got recommendation for a very good restaurant. Excellent sleep quality. Everything we would expect of such a hotel. We highly recommend this hotel if you are in the area.
A very cosy and peaceful hotel. The bed is quite confortable and the bathroom is spacious enough and very clean! The staff is very friendly and hepful. The surroundings of this hotel is the amazing village of Marvão. Also next door there is a small minimarket. I recommend this boutique hotel and the price/service is quite good.
