Small B&B about 2 miles from the NC500 route. Where to start? Hosts are 2 wonderful people (87yrs young) who go out of there way to talk with you and hear about what you have been doing. Not being “ageist” but we felt guilty they were looking after us and cooking our breakfast and not the other way around! Room in the chapel style building next door was lovely although a little dated and was a bit cold as we couldn’t seem to get the heaters to work but they may have been just us. Views from the front door were amazing as were the walks from the doorstep along the coast and we found some beautiful private beaches for 2 on our walk with not a soul in sight. I think Bob and Audrey are going to take a step back after this year and allow their son to take over the reins and I don’t blame them, we were just glad we met these 2 people before they call it a day. Also not an issue for us but there was no wifi but good 4G.…

We had a lovely but short stay at Cloisters. The view from our room and at breakfast in the conservatory was beautiful. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. The wifi didn't work that well but who needs WiFi with a view like that after a long day in the Highlands anyway.

Wonderful accommodation just a short distance from the NC500 route but well worth the diversion. The self contained accommodation is perfectly laid out and provides all the facilities you need with breath taking views to the front of the building. Breakfast is provided in the adjoining chapel conversion, where the current owners life, who are the most welcoming and interesting people you could care to meet. Although we could only stop two days this was a truly memorable place to stay and we will come back if we have the chance.

We stayed here for two nights on our North Coast 500 trip and I highly recommend this small but idyllic B&B. Our hosts, a retired couple, were lovely and invited us to join them for a drink on our last night. It was a Sherry for me and Whiskey and water for my husband! My southern husband experiencing how real Scotts never use mixers!! The room was spacious, very clean and comfortable, and offered the best view I’ve ever had! Breakfast was home cooked and offered the same beautiful view. Not much else but views and walks in Talmine but I’d highly recommend this B&B if you’re in the area. The Craggan hotel just down the road did tasty fresh food, but you’ll need to book in advance.

We stayed in Cloisters No 1 the door of which faces out across the bay for stunning views. Tip, leave the front door open to enjoy the views framed by the gothic archway. The owners were very hospitable and had some great stories to tell from their interesting lives. They recommended a meal at the nearby Craggan Inn which is within easy walking distance on the road back towards Tongue, maybe 1/2 mile Bathroom impeccably clean. Breakfasts were generous. In times of Covid, it was great that the couple running this B&B have kept it open, many thanks to them both for this.

I was part way through my road trip round Scotland and due to the poor weather, decided to abandon two nights of camping in favour of a b&b. I absolutely fell on my feet when I found The Cloisters with Bob & Audrey! The location is stunning and I was taken by Bob to my incredibly spacious room with two singles and en suite. My breakfasts were two of the best breakfasts I had during my whole month of travelling (the scrambled eggs in particular were wonderful, and I'm really fussy about eggs...) and Bob & Audrey are really interesting to talk to. Yes, the Wifi/internet is erratic as one might expect in such an isolated spot, but there is so much else to do and see I doubt you'd miss it. Bob pointed me in the right direction for a glorious walk. This turned out somewhat longer than I'd expected as I conflated it with one I found in a leaflet at breakfast and I got somewhat lost part way through.......but that's half the fun! I absolutely loved staying here and will return like a shot if the opportunity presents itself again in the future!…

The Cloisters is is in a stunning location and the hosts made us very welcome. However, I suspect we were the first guests for a while due to Covid and room was musty and bedding/towels and decor in need of an update. No Covid precautions taken, unlike every other accommodation we stayed in during our trip. No WIFI as suggested on website. Unfortunately compared with all other B&bs on our three week trip this was bottom of the list in terms of the room and the breakfast.

he main building was not signed so we wandered up and down in the rain to find the entrance. Our room was cramped with two small beds squeezed in and two small windows with no outlook. Though the B&B has an excellent position the weather was wet, windy and cold so we were unable to benefit from the view either from the outside or from our room. I asked the owner whether we could have access to his very comfortable lounge where we had been invited to sit and chat before breakfast. In view of the inclement weather but this request was refused. I appreciate this is only a B&B but had I been in the owner's position I would not have had the heart to refuse shelter to beleaguered guests. Some reviews rate the breakfast highly, but the coffee was poor, no fresh fruit was provided and the bacon was hard.. And the breakfast times were restrictive.…
