The food in the hotel was fine, not always piping hot but perfectly acceptable, and plenty of it. We had a Bulgarian feast on Christmas night, and were ashamed to see other UK guests refusing to try local food and requesting chips instead.
Pamporovo itself is a nice little town, expanding rapidly, with plenty of night life in the various bars and hotels. The bus picks you up in the morning 100 yds from the apartment to take you to the ski depot where skis and boots are stored. Our ski instructor was charming and patient, with very good English. In fact all the local people in the hotel, restaurants and at the ski depot were helpful and eager to please. (book your ski pack in advance to avoid queues on the first day!)
We had enough snow, but it was a bit icy towards the end of the week after thawing and refreezing. We did most of our skiing at the top of the mountain, and the views are terrific. As novices we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would have no hesitation in going to Parmporovo again - maybe later in the season. More advanced skiers might find it a bit limiting.
All in all it was a good value, fun holiday - highly recommended!
Staff as pleasant as bulgarians get, safe behind reception free of charge. Shopping located within the hotel and along adjoining passageway with another hotel. Also restaurant on top floor and swimming pool avalible but we did not use these facilities.
Generator to front of hotel can be noisey so would recommend requesting room at the back of hotel if light sleeper.
Although my partner found the buffet style and food acceptable, I struggled to eat anything offered. This is a problem throughout pamporovo so if you enjoy your food I would advise going to an alternative country!
Looks great. Amazing cosy pool/spa area. Best equiped hotel gym I’ve seen in a long time. Excellent selection of delicious buffet food for dinner and breakfast. Some friendly staff.
Cons
Slept very badly every night due to the fact our room was unbearably hot! Room didn’t have air-conditioning either. We had all radiators off and slept with no covers and the balcony door wide open during winter to try and cool it down. We were facing the main road and was very loud all night with bars/cars/people/stray dogs and even wearing ear plugs were awoken, and the room still stayed hot! We spoke to other guests that had to do the same.
Also, wifi didn’t work at all. Fridge didn’t work. Toilet had small leak on floor from inlet pipe. No security box in room. Staff were unable to move us to a room on the ‘quieter’ side of the hotel. Most staff spoke very little English.
Top floor Cosmos cafe is perfect - the best view in the resort - strongly recommended.
Newly renovated maisonette are my favorites.

The hotel is suitable for both - summer vacation as well as winter ski relax.
Next time in Pamporovo, we would visit it again.
This hotel is right in the middle of where everything happens at night, and a 2 minute shuttle bus ride to the slopes.
In the hotel there's two lovely little bars (both really well priced) and we even had our own night club downstairs!! As well as that there's a really nice spa area with a great pool, sauna, steam room, gym and several massage rooms where you can go after a strenuous day on the slopes, and a crazy little casino downstairs which seemed to open all of the time (a perfect place to have your first beer of the night!)
I found before we went, all the reviews on here were written by snooty middle agers who just shouldn't have booked a package holiday in the first place!! If you're a group of guys or girls that just want a fun week, with guaranteed great snow (the resort is pretty high up), lots of cheap drinks, and to meet some new people.. COME HERE!!! Everyone is so friendly and I couldn't recommend it more.
Last couple of things:
-We all took £400 spending money (about 900 'Lev') and had more than enough for drinks, meals out, presents to take back.
-If you're in a downstairs room... BEWARE OF THE CATS IN THE CEILING!!! (they made our holiday!!)
1. The food is horrible, and I mean horrible. Lambs lung soup anyone? My sister also found a hair in her dessert.... so we ended up just eating out every night.
2. The staff dont seem to want to help anyone and always have their hands out for tips. Heres a tip, try not loading my luggage onto the wrong bus at the end of my trip!
3. The hotel is run by mafia, there are too many illegal activities going on here to mention, but the main one is the Spider NightClub in the basement. The club is a dive, full of prostitutes and mafia. Avoid this at all costs, especially the show cubicles built into the walls.........
I could go on all day but this is pretty much enough to give you an idea of what the hotel is like. It is definately not a 4 star, its not even a European 3 star. Save money and rent a chalet or go to the 3* Prespa up the hill, at least there you can eat.
Have fun!
