Place to be and stay longer than one day. Kinloch Lodge is a nice hotel and a friendly hostel with clean dormitories, well equipped kitchen and best views ever. Myself, I stayed in a hostel and can recommend it not only because of the facilities: the staff at the reception was very friendly, they will advice you or book a...

We booked this on the recommendation of a work colleague and it didn't disappoint. Toni collected us from the airport herself because taxis were all fully booked. The drive there was full of magical scenery and Toni stopped to take a family photo for us. My husband and I had a heritage room which was absolutely charming (the kids were...

Thanks so much for your review. I remember your lovely family and we really enjoyed hosting you here at Kinloch Lodge. Thanks for really understanding what we do here. Perhaps we'll see you again when you do the Routeburn or Rees/Dart as a family. We love it when guests feel like friends, then running a lodge does not feel like...

We booked one night here following a personal recommendation. The views and location are stunning, the staff are very friendly and the food was gorgeous. However, we booked the boat trip across the lake (rather than a45 minute drive each way on partly unsealed road). Due to propeller problems this didn't happen. Fair enough - but an acknowledged would have...

Thanks for your review. We are very happy you enjoyed your food, the location and the staff. We know that despite having a car, you had booked a free boat transfer that is subject to weather when you booked direct with us. The huge rains followed by a southerly had hooked a log under the boat propeller and the waves...

Lovely place, right off the beaten track. Views are amazing. Well-equipped and cozy kitchen. The only thing was that it was advertised as a place in Glenorchy, but it is actually in Kinloch, which is 26km further than Glenorchy. It was only a bit surprising and annoying for us as we had a long day of driving and were tired....

Thanks for your review. We are in Kinloch, Glenorchy and not in Glenorchy township. Kinloch is 3 km across from Glenorchy and is accessed by a road that goes 26 kilometres from Glenorchy to Kinloch. We offer a free arrival boat for guests who book direct at 12:30 pm from Glenorchy. We do put all this information on our website...

Had lunch here (did not lodge). Food excellent and good selection of craft beers and local wine. Met owner and it was a very good experience. Rooms looked comfortable (not fancy). Located in the lake about 1 hr from Queenstown

I was travelling by myself and couldn't have been more comfortable than at Kinloch Lodge. A wonderful welcome from Tom and Angel and such a comfortable stay in a splendid setting. The meals available are delicious too. I would highly recommend this for a stay.

Always great to stay and dine. Fantastic friendly service, and an ideal place to stay en route to the Routeburn, Caples and Greenstone. Good range of rooms from budget to classic Edwardian comfort. John's menu is great with local food and a great selection of regional wine.

Stayed as a family for a couple of nights so, like many others, we could base ourselves for the magnificent walks that are so accessible from the lodge (we had a rental car). As has been said by others - this is not only a backpackers lodge - it can provide something extra for those who want it, like us....

Thanks Greg. Glad you had a great time. We can provide ear plugs - what a good idea, though it is a shame that we need to. Sorry if some guests were a little noisy. Most of our guests are very considerate. Looking forward to seeing you again one day. Take care and all the very best. Toni

Beautifully situated at the head of Lake Wakatipu opposite Glenorchy, this beautiful lodge was a joy to stay at. The setting and surrounding scenery was spectacular. I had a double room which had a queen bed and a single bed, warm and comfortable. Bathrooms were down the hall but were clean and I never had to wait. One of the...
