The hotel was comfortable with friendly staff. The Beefeater is just across the car park. Free parking. If you collect Beefeater points don’t prepay for meals as you can’t then get the points. Rooms were a bit hot due to windows being restricted on opening, this is obviously a safety feature and a fan was provided.

The heaters were smaller than most Premier Inns and switched off regularly. No spare heaters. Rooms smaller than usual.

By second night heating problem fixed AND spare heaters found. Service was helpful.

We were advised on the hotel website that we couldn't check in until 4pm as they were doing a deep clean of all rooms in this Covid era. The hotel itself looked adequate for our one night stay and cheap at £35. The rooms are small and serve the purpose but when my wife went to put something in our shower room bin, there was a used panty pad in it. We complained to reception and were offered a different room which we took. The receptionist was apologetic and helpful.
The new room was not clean at all. The hair dryer was covered in hair and dust, we found other dust and hair on the shower tray rim and shelf under the basin which I videod on my phone. The room smelled dirty and we opened the window all night. It was better in the morning. I suggest they put their prices up a bit and use the money for extra cleaners. we were told the cleaners normally do 12 rooms a shift and now were having to do 20 because of staff shortages!!

Response from Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants, Other at Premier Inn Cardiff East Hotel
Responded 7 Sept 2021
Hi Roger, Thank you for your review. We’re very sorry that you were left disappointed by the cleanliness standards in your room on arrival. This certainly isn't the experience we would expect for you. The safety and wellbeing of our guests and teams has always been incredibly important to us and everyone in our hotels should rightly expect a safe, clean and protected environment. The Coronavirus crisis has brought this into sharp focus, which is why we have launched a new rigorous, daily cleaning regime across all our hotels. We have ensured this feedback has been logged to the Hotel Management team so that they can look into these issues with our Housekeeping teams to prevent this experience from being repeated again in the future. Thank you for taking the time to contact us and we hope we can welcome you for a more enjoyable stay in the future. Kind regards, Tayler

Bathroom was dirty upon arrival. Asked for it to be cleaned and room to be serviced the next morning - still not very clean. Room was not serviced properly during our 3 night stay despite asking the front desk every day. Room was the smallest Premier Inn we have ever stayed in.

On the plus side, the front desk staff were very friendly and the Beefeater next door was very good. Handy location for Cardiff but the park and ride is not in operation now. Number 30 bus into Cardiff took about 40 minutes and the bus stop is close. There is a very good Cardff City bus app.

Premier Inns used to be good value for money. I no longer feel that way. It seems they are trying to cut back in every way they can, ie not cleaning rooms properly and having to ask for rooms to be serviced, clean towels etc. I can partially understand not wanting to possibly contaminate people during the pandemic but that is over. It is just an excuse for poor service now.

This will be my last stay at a Premier Inn, going to try Airbnb or Travel Lodge in future.

Hotel is based in the middle of nowhere. Rooms and décor felt dark and oppressive and smelt damp. Sleep was ok. Room was booked based on the advertised room of being light and airy!! This was not what I got.

The hotel is a 15 min drive for any local convenience stores. Amy receptionist and cleaning supervisor Michelle were the best things about this hotel. They were warm and very friendly.

I had bad stomach cramps/upset the whole time there (3 nights). Not sure if it was the food eaten at the Beefeater or the water but we couldn't travel far in case I needed the bathroom. Staff at the Beefeater were very unwelcoming, they forgot orders, ran out of breakfast items, bought wrong orders to the table and breakfast was always cold by the time it got to the table.

Sadly there is no chance of me recommending or returning to this Hotel!!
I wouldn't recommend this hotel, it was like a

We have just returned from staying at the Premier Inn Cardiff East, on a trip to see Coldplay, I rang well in advance to request a ground floor disabled room, speaking to Tina she told me she would reserve room 5. Last week I spoke to her again to see if it was possible to have an early check in at 11am, this would cost an extra £10 which was fine, we arrived a little early but went into the reception, to be greeted by a young smiling receptionist who told us everthing was ready for us so could check in right away. Whilst doing this Tina and collegue Collette came by, both were very friendly and helped us with our luggage. We had a 2 couse lunchtime meal for £10.95 at the Beefeater which was great value was very well cooked and served by a friendly waiter. The attention we recieved from everyone went to make this a very memorable trip all round and would not hesitate to stay at this Premier Inn again in the future.

The staff were nice but paying £90 for a hotel room where the bathroom needs a lot of TLC and a good clean plus the room having marked all over the walls really isn’t good enough. In the hallway downstairs I also saw a lot of water damage on the ceiling which is not good for people’s health when staying here. Seeing as the hotel is a huge chain it really should be better than this and spend a bit of money fixing the damaged areas and having all the rooms properly cleaned. Not happy with the stay at all.

Stayed for a couple of nights whilst visiting family nearby.
Room was clean and tidy, just needs a bit of a refresh. Staff were really friendly and helpful - the single pull out bed in our room hadn't been made but the lady on the desk was quick to get us clean bedding and offered to make it for us although I was happy to do this myself.
Room was quiet even though on a main road. Would happily visit again.
Only downside was the free WiFi - could connect but was painfully slow so used my own data instead. Not the end of the world.

When we arrived we were greeted with such a warm and friendly welcome. Saskia on reception was on her first proper shift after completing her training and she was simply perfect, professional, yet friendly and informative. Check in was quick and easy. The following morning we were greeted by Tina who again was exceptional, going above and beyond to help us with a Taxi firm number, bus timetable and location of the bus stop for our trip to The Principality Stadium that day. We spent 3 wonderful nights and every member of staff we encountered were a credit to Premier Inn.
We ate and drank at The Coach and Horses and the food was delicious. We were greeted by Richard for breakfast and in the evening the bar staff and locals made us feel so welcome. We are returning in February and looking forward to seeing everyone again.

The hotel is approx 8 miles from the centre of Cardiff bus journey time around about 40 minutes, it is situated on the A48 between Newport and Cardiff. There are regular bus services from opposite the hotel site to Cardiff and the bus drop off point for the return journey is outside the hotel restaurant. The reception staff will have full details of the buses and times.
