Olarro is the perfect lodge to experience the best of Kenya. The staff is highly professional, welcoming and friendly ... they went above and beyond to create the perfect experience for all of us. The rooms are amazing, very stylish and comfortable. We were a large group and occupied both regular rooms and the fantastic suite … all have large... More

It will be truly difficult to put our Olarro vacation into words, it should be experienced in order to do justice. We will try to outline some of the special moments and service which we received by the hospitable and exceptional staff at Olarro. It was our first trip to Kenya and the Masai Mara region, we were greeted warmly... More

This is a truly great location and place. The staff is so friendly. Barbara and Colin went out of their way to make sure everyone was taken care of. Peter in the dining room was always present with a smile. The food was great and unique. The views from the deck are great and a must see. The fire place... More

This is a long overdue review as we stayed at Ollaro last year. We were there for our honeymoon (which happened to be at christmas). Till today, my husband and I are still talking about how amazing Ollaro was. I feel like this should be kept a secret as I want to visit Ollaro over and over. But I think... More

This is a beautiful lodge. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and we had a simply wonderful 3 night stay. Sadly I was full of cold so didnt make use of the spa facilities. But the room was beautiful.... spacious and with everything we needed. Even the most amazing hot water bottle that stayed warm til morning....for the... More

I stayed at Olarro in January 2015. I was blown away by everything about the place from the food to the staff. The manager, Barbara was so hospitable and made us feel so welcome and at home. One of the servers, Peter, was just amazing - service with a smile! Little Olarro is a must-stay-in! The views from the deck... More

The only negative for me on this stay was that I couldn't stay longer! It's still a lovely lodge with a wonderful staff in a perfect location. Colin, the Assistant Manager was charming and helpful to my unusual requests. An added plus was newly installed wifi which is now the best I've to find in the bush.

We have just come back from an amazing holiday here. Barbara and Colin and all the team were so great at making our holiday so magical. Special mention must go to our guide Francisco who was so knowledgable and had an unmatchable ability to spot animals. They have Lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards, cheetahs and all kinds of plains game. The... More

I went to Olarro during the festivities. It was one of the best trips in my life (and I travel a lot). Its location is perfect. It is uphill facing a conservancy and very close to the Masai Mara national park. The conservancy is amazing with its animals, trees, blue sky, colors, sounds, and hidden surprises. The lodge is a... Ollaro is simply a magic place! The lodge is fantastically located at the foothill of a hill looking out into the savanna and only an hour away from the Masai Mara Park (the design of the lodge and the rooms are enough to make your visit worthwhile). For those who do not want to travel all the wildlife of Masai... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located in the Loita Hills, perched on a 2,000m high vantage point and designed by renowned architect and artist Anthony Russell, Olarro is an eco-lodge of the highest order. A unique, artistically styled retreat built with undulating curves that mimic the rolling hillside on which the lodge is set; blending in effortlessly into its surrounds. The interior is a cool white, accented by earth-toned accessories and enhanced by modern décor chosen for its quality and the integrity of its design.Lying within its own 7,000 acres private conservancy, Olarro is surrounded by 150,000 acres of Maji Moto Group Ranch, which is owned by the local Maasai people. The Lodge offers a private wilderness, with rolling hills of bush-land, savannah valleys and spreading acacias trees. It is a unique environment, where the Maasai pastoralists for centuries have co-existed peacefully with wild animals. The Conservancy sits along the corridor of the annual wildebeest migration and plays a significant role in the Greater Nguruman, Loita, Mara, and Serengeti ecosystems. Olarro is 99% powered by renewable energy. Olarro has a sophisticated installation of solar and wind energy-generation systems. These renewable energy systems include wind turbines and solar panels that charge deep-cycle batteries, solar water heaters to supply all the hot water needs and solar pumps to provide all the water requirements for the lodge as well as filter the swimming pool. ... more   less
