We arrived at the Coco Reef after a long flight from Heathrow. We were shown to our bedroom which on first sight looked ok, maybe a bit old fashioned and needed upgrading, especially the bathroom. At 21.30 a family with two small children came back to the room next door and kept us awake until the early hours. We requested a change of room and moved the following day. to a smaller room, just as old fashioned. We found the breakfast to be adequate, although a number of times they had run out of a particular dish. Get there early! The lunches were fine especially the barbequed fish. The evening meals left a little to be desired. Apart from one member of staff who was very helpful when my wife was ill, we found all the staff less than friendly. Overall, this hotel should be downgraded from a four to a three star.

After reading less than good reviews about Coco Reef, my wife and I were apprehensive about returning to the resort having spent many happy holidays there in previous years. We need not have worried. The staff at Coco Reef welcomed us back as if we were family and ensured our stay was enjoyable and memorable. Yes, the facilities are old and shower pressure could be improved, but that just adds to the charm of the hotel. When we did have minor problems with our room, the maintenance team rectified it immediately. The pros far outweigh the cons. The rooms are spacious and are kept clean and tidy by a conscientious housekeeping team led by Esther. The food in both restaurants is very good although dinner service can sometimes be a little slow. Buffet breakfast provides a great choice of items including juices, fresh fruit, cereals, pancakes, ham, sausages, cheese and eggs cooked to order. Notwithstanding all of this, it is obvious that the jewel in the hotel's crown is its staff. In particular we would like to mention Elizabeth, Esther, Claudia, Mellisa, Keishelle, Beverley, Roxanne, Preston, Patrice and Chanel (amongst others) each one of whom ensured we enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing holiday. Also, there was a lot of hard work put in by all the staff to ensure the dining room was appropriately decorated for the Valentines Day dinner. It was lovely and appeciated - thank you. Evening entertainment provided by Anderson (?) was very good and he soon had the guests out of their seats, singing and dancing. My wife and I will return.

There is a very common theme with reviews for this place and I'm sure I'll be repeating most. The hotel itself is in lovely grounds and the aspect is superb, with its own beach and palm trees for shade. There were always enough sun loungers and apart from one day when they ran out of towels these were always available. The pool is seldom used but not needed with such a lovely lagoon. The interior has charm and was always clean, as were the rooms, albeit it they were a little outdated and might benefit from a lick of paint or otherwise. Our water pressure was fine but not so much for our kids next door. The beds really could definitely have benefited from new mattresses though. It was an older clientele whilst we were there, Brits in the main, so quite quiet but you have Crown Point and its bars and restaurants next door so you always have that option to go out too and it's not expensive. The hotel is 10 mins walk from the airport too although you don't get ripped off when getting a taxi (50 TTD) as you can do in some places. Service is on the whole very good. The staff were pleasant and made the stay enjoyable. I can't help feeling that an investment in some kind of software wouldn't go amiss with regards to in-house processes though, regarding booking of taxis and other requests so they are not forgotten which can be a risk when everything seems paper-based. Breakfast was plentiful and varied, lunch gave nice options especially with the BBQ but evening meal was hit and miss. I like the idea of one of the main meals being a sit down meal; you can always over-do all-inc buffets and it probably also cuts down on food wastage which is a good thing but the menu wasn't overly varied and although it was OK, it wasn't always of the best quality. There seemed to be enough staff of an evening but often the waits for food and drink were longer than you'd expect. Although you had a to pay a small fee for late checkout it was well worth it given we had an evening flight out. I think the hotel could do a little better with communications as to what they offer on arrival. There is a "rep" for excursions but you have to ask (very rare in these kinds of hotels) and they didn't have snorkels for use/hire at the water sports desk so you'd have to bring your own. Might be handy to know that in advance. For the trips though I would heartily recommend Hans Tours for boat trips and tours of the island, a really lovely, engaging fella who not only had tons of knowledge and made the days a real pleasure but also stopped in at different places for local food which was excellent (doubles and buss up shut are definite recommends!) Overall it would be unkind to mark this as 3/5 due to the location and staff but 3.5 might have been a more realistic score overall, as it could do better. Probably would choose somewhere else if returning to Tobago but then if you do pick this place I'm sure you'll have a great time regardless.

I can happily and truthfully say that every single member of staff were happy, kind and hardworking. Even when it seemed really busy, they always stayed calm and respectful. Nothing was too much bother at all.I would happily go back every year if I could.

This hotel is in an amazing position. Yes some of the sunbeds need changing for newer ones and yes the hotel itself needs some TLC. But you need to ask what you want from your holiday. We found the staff to be more than helpful, breakfast was enough with plenty of choices, buffet lunch was reasonable , pizzas were great, then there's table service dinner , we thought that was amazing. There's no issues with drinks, branded mixers on the all inclusive along with some addictive punch. The entertainment was alittle sparce but Saturday night belongs to "Isaiahtobagolove" this guy is amazing. He's got such a lovely voice and he's very entertaining, just hoping he's still there for our next visit. The tours belong to "Hans" what a guide, so knowledgeable, helpful and trustworthy, although his jokes are the worst lol. It appears most of the rooms have a sea view, depending on which room you have , the showers not the best, but you can work round it. The beds are comfy and the air con works. If you want relaxation, sun, sea, being looked after, more than adequate food in a beautiful place with its original Caribbean ambiance, this is the place. Can't wait to return.

Utterly charming hotel which expresses many of the best qualities of Tobago itself, unpretentiousness and friendliness combined with a strong sense of pride, a wonderful underlying humour which is not always on immediate offer as a free gift to the visitor but has to be earned a little through time and mutual respect, and love for the unspoilt beauty of the place. Big advantages are the palm shaded beach, the sheltered lagoon, and the proximity to all the energy of the local area. The food we thought ranged from excellent at lunchtime and when served outside in the evening (especially the home-style Friday lunchtime curries) to a bit strained and repetitive at the more formal dinner sessions inside. The one thing we really didn't care for was the constant piped saxophone music in the lobby - please find an alernative! All the practical stuff seemed to work fine, wi-fi, towels, hot water etc - especially when you ask nicely if you have a little problem. This is not a place to meet the smart set or receive the sort of robotic, standardised service offered by big chains. It feels much more like staying in someone's home, and that is something we greatly appreciated and would like to thank all the terriific staff for providing to us on our holiday.

The rooms did not have good water pressure to bath and the hot water does not work properly. I had paid for 2 rooms, in room 118 there was water dripping over my head while in the toilet and it was coming from the room above and the showers don't work properly. Room 120 same thing for shower and hot water but no toilet leaks from overhead. This was over the Carnival weekend, so hotel was at Max. maybe its time the hotel upgrades the rooms or reduce prices. On a more positive the Breakfast was ok, and the lagoon helped with the rough seas alert. But I will not want to send my money there again if the rooms are so horrible, with the little time spent in the rooms the experience was horrible. I was there in August 2023, and they don't care to do any upgrades. Management instead of trying to do damage control on unsatisfied guest they should seriously think about what their paying customers are saying. Upgrade the rooms as i wasted a lot of my money for poor service. All the complaints from previous are still there and they don't do anything.

Fantastic 2 week holiday at Coco Reef, everthing was pretty much perfect, by the 2nd week I was happy to try the local resturants outside the hotel in the evenings which were all very good and great to be with the lovely local community. We also had a planned wedding which was amazing, very cost effective and the perfect location. Jeanelle and Tracey and their fab staff left no stone unturned to make this the perfect day and without any stress or hastle, making the real wedding day experience. I would go as far as to say this is the prefect place to be married aboard with the added bonus of being in real paradise with real beautiful people, we will be back 100% for sure Rob & Steph Hinton

Really enjoyed our stay at Coco Reef. The staff are amazing and the best on the island. They are friendly, helpful and professional. The location can’t be beat. It’s not only an amazing view, but just an amazingly calm and gorgeous, protected beach front. The rooms are also clean and our porch/veranda faced the pool and ocean. We loved having coffee with complimentary milk from the fridge on the porch and enjoying the view. Now the hotel is older and so are the rooms, but the ‘colonial’ style has absorbed some of the aging. The breakfast was great and the dinner was tasty as well. The main issues are the lack of hot water at busy times e.g. sunset/end of day and the beach towel allotment (beach towels were limited to one a guest and had to be signed out), but it does not dampen the loveliness of the hotel and the staff. It’s like a hidden gem that my family loves and we hope it stays the way it is. The location is also close to everything including the bus stop and shops and the gate is guarded. We will continue to visit whenever we can. Thanks is particular to Stephanie, Karina and Gail! Hope to see you all soon.
