Familiar Hostel but completly unorganized. They told me at 9:30 PM to move out of my room, because they are overbooked and i need to go to another dorm. I asked to take a free double room and they said i need to pay both then. They are just interested in your money and are not interested in how you... More

Amazing location, amazing atmosphere, good food and great activities! I only stayed here around 3-4 nights and wished that I could stay here much longer. The place to be if you are travelling through South Africa!

We were on a road trip and camped here for one night. Camping spots in the front garden has the best view. Friendly staff. Nice food. Liked the bar. Next time i'll definitely stay more than one night.

Howzit Thank you very much for taking the time to review Coffee Shack, great to hear that enjoyed your stay. Sad you could only stay for one night, we always recommend that guests book for at least 3 nights if possible, although 5 nights is better and you get a special 5th night free. Such a great stay at Coffee Shack. The food was fantastic and the room was clean and safe. The activities they put on every day are great fun and very cheap, perfect for the independent traveller. Great vibe.

Such a cool place, with a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere… All the different activities are great, and very inexpensive… As well is their food… The staff is also highly commited to their jobs, with my 7 months in Africa now, this is where I’ve experienced the best staff (especially the local staff)! Highly recommendable!!!

Coffee shack was simply the best place I've stayed in SA. The food is amasing, the tours are super cheap and wonderful. The surroundings....well, hard to find better than this. If you want sunshine, surfing, dolphins, meeting backpackers and a mind reset, that is the place where you want to go. 10/10. Brilliant.

We were in Coffee Bay doing some networking and stopped in at the Coffee Shack, the staff was unfriendly and uninterested and the whole vibe was a bit chaotic and unorganized.... Such an amazing hostel! Perfect for likes to chill, and also to party a bit. The atmosphere is amazing, the staff is great, and they organize activities every day. The surfing lessons they provide daily are awesome, and for a very good price. Their dinners are delicious, and the prices are inexpensive. I'd totally recommend it!

Coffee Shack is a backpackers' tropical paradise, located on the beach at the Bomvu River mouth on the Wild Coast of South Africa, where you will experience a way of life far removed from Western culture. We have a reputation of being a fun, good-value hostel with excellent facilities and the most amazing, friendly staff. We offer accommodation in traditional, thatched-roof huts, ranging from private rooms to dorms, as well as camping facilities in the garden next to the beach. Stay for five nights and get your 5th night free! Our 'Babalaza Bar' is fully licensed and rocks in the evenings with its free pool table and range of drinks and cocktails. Join in the Killer Pool game or enjoy the chilled-out atmosphere around the firepit. Our variety of day trips include cultural walks exploring the local Xhosa culture, a traditional evening of dance and song at the home of a local family where you can try traditional Xhosa food and beers, beach days on the beautiful Coffee Bay, surf lessons, exploring Mapuzi cliffs and caves, hiking to the legendary "Hole in the Wall" or just walking in the local countryside with one of the local guides.
