Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The photos on the website don’t do this hotel justice. The reception team were very accommodating with making sure our group had rooms together, we had booked 8 rooms. They were all a good size and cleaned daily. The food in the restaurant is nice and reasonably price although the bar is very expensive, just outside the hotel there’s a 24hr garage where we’d go to buy drinks instead.
The pool is lovely and can be used any time of day/night and is surrounded by plants and trees and is lovely to sit an watch the birds in the morning.
Would definitely stay again.

Visited this hotel for an engagement celebration and it was a great experience. Friendly staff, clean surroundings and a beautiful view. I’ve always just assumed this was a hotel with nothing much to offer but I was wrong. The food was great. Definitely will visit again.

I went to the Royal Hotel in March 2014 for the Carnival weekend. I found the hotel itself was really good. The rooms were nice although on first sight I found it to be too clustered. The room I got the toilet was not working properly. The pool and the grounds were really good. The service at the restaurant was good also although I anticipated more from the continental breakfast. Overall it was good for the price we paid

stay at Royal hotel dec 16 2011 to Jan 1 2012. My intended stay was until Jan 4, but checked out for safety reasons.. The ironic part about it is the staff knew who robbed me.. and trying their darnest to cover it up.. First of all dont leave any valuables in the safe deposit box in room they will target you especially if you Are alone and when not there will help themselves to your stuff...,I got robbed and when reported it to the front desk they told me they will look into it, In the interim I made a police report,. The cops at the station told me that they had a couple of reports of theft from other guests that stayed at the royal hotel. When presented the report to them they started back stepping with all sorts of cock and bull story... It is not fair , to be robbed and your life in danger and for them to treat you with imprudency and disdain, like if you deserve to get robbed, and they have a right to what yours.. because americans have money.................

I normally don't take the time to review hotels despite being a seasoned traveller. However, I was so appalled by the service and staff at this hotel, that I felt compelled to comment. I have never encountered such a rude and disrespectful concierge (apparently she is the "accountant"). This raving lunatic has anger issues and unleashed her wrath when I queried the hotel bill. In the end it turned out to be the hotel's error. But no apology was offered. I was supposed to stay an extra two days but decided to check out and went instead to the Tradewinds Hotel not too far away (much better accommodation and the service their was professional). Additionally, the Royal has the most invasive housekeeping staff I have ever seen. Imagine a loud rapping sound on your door at 6:00am to clean the room and if you ask them to come back later, they act as though you are inconveniencing them. The next day it was 6:30am with the same request. In fact, housekeeping once came into the room when I was on the potty. Most embarrassing. Not all of the staff werer rude and obnoxious, there were a few who were quite nice. The rooms had unattractive cheap furnishings and equal to a one star drive-in motel. Yet the cost is that of a three star. The best thing about this hotel was the pool and free wii-fi. The main eating area with its high ceiling and water fountain was also quite lovely. Overall, my advice is, don't ignore the bad reviews about this hotel. There's a reason why people are posting them. I read the reviews about this hotel prior to booking. I e-mailed the hotel with my concerns, especially the safety issues posted by another user. The hotel assured me it was a safe place, however, I did not see any security and anyone could enter the premises at any time of night.

As with any hotel, if you are respectful to the staff, they will address any concerns that you have. I have chosen this hotel several times and will stay at the Royal Hotel in the future. Good food, nice clean rooms, very helpful staff and great pool and dining area. Do not be pretentious...if you want the Waldorf Astoria, then go there...otherwise enjoy all that this hotel, hotel staff and local area has to offer. There was never a night that I did not see staff/security walking around and asking if I needed assistance. The rooms are clean and the staff will adjust to any schedule of cleaning, if you just ask. Whenever possible, I introduced myself to all waiters, maids, security staff, etc, and they all made sure that I was comfortable and had everything that I wanted. Bottom line, as with anyone or any hotel, treat people like you want to be treated and you will have an exceptional stay at this hotel, and most others as well.

I stayed @ this hotel early part of August for 4 nights together with 2 other family members. Due to substantially delayed flight we checked in around 3:00 am and had to pay for an extra day. Service was okay by housekeeping staff, servers BUT NOT front desk staff/management. The pool was unavailable and under repairs for our entire stay which was a downer since we requested a room near the pool in advance (on booking) which we got BUT but NO use of the pool. Disappointed, we understood that pool needs maintenance and should have been told in advance of booking. We made several request to management to provide us maybe with a free meal or a possible credit in lieu of the inconvenience. Nothing was done, we kept getting answers like "it is out of our control, their is nothing we can do, we will speak to the person in charge and get back to you" etc....

We checked out without an answer or apology for the inconvenience. In my opinion RHotel needs to improve on their customer service policies ASAP in order to avoid bad reviews which could definitely hurt their business. D.

Have stayed at this hotel for around 8 years, 2 to 3 times er year, always on business. Staff are responsive, pleasant and helpful. Food is OK, however the menu has not changed in as many years.....could be improved.
