We have just returned after staying at the Haweswater Hotel for two nights. The building is a lovely testament to art deco, tall windows and well loved furniture in the guest lounge. Relaxing in the restaurant and watching the red squirrels cause mischief right underneath...More

I saw some people with dogs. They are not allowed to the restaurant. But the place is nice and tidy and dogs and their owners very well behaved. Didn’t see any cats.

I would advise to rent a car . There are busses but they go every hour or so, that is why having a car there is very useful and will save you a lot of time .
