Had a one-night stay in a lake view room. The view was beautiful and the snow-topped mountains made it even better. The room was quite spacious and spotlessly clean as was the rest of the hotel. There is a really nice lounge with huge sofas and an open fire. The dining room and bar are both very attractive and welcoming....

The building itself is glorious, like something out of an Agatha Christie novel. And if you get one of the renovated rooms, they are absolutely first class. Our room had three separate rooms and a double aspect overlooking both the gardens...

A fabulous hotel, tucked away from the normal hustle and bustle of life. Superbly attentive staff and great atmosphere. Thoroughly recommend a stay here. The rooms were good, the food even better. It was just so much better than expected.

I booked this hotel as a belated valentines day stay and I wasn't disappointed. I emailed the hotel a few days before our stay and asked them if there were any vegan options available in the restaurant... usually this is met with some controversy from other establishments but I received a very prompt reply ensuring me they would have somthing...

We found this quite by chance on the internet while looking for a special hotel for our son's 21st birthday. It is in an idyllic setting, the only building on the road which runs along Haweswater. The views from the front of the hotel are spectacular and we enjoyed watching the birds and the red squirrels during breakfast. As the...
