Beautiful new hotel right on the ocean. The hotel is very clean. I see housekeepers cleaning the property non-stop. The rooms are also very clean, the sheets and towels are snow white unlike some other hotels we stayed in Chania and Platanias. Our room had a large screen TV with YouTube connection, so my kid could watch cartoons. The hotel staff is very friendly. We always stay in Hilton hotels in the US and when we travel out of country, and in my opinion, Sunny Bay is not worse in class, yet much cheaper. I definitely recommend this hotel.

Beds are really comfortable (!). Breakfast is good and plenty (fresh scrambled eggs, lovely home-Made cakes) served with an amazing view. Had dinner here once and it was good. Rooms are clean. The cleaning lady surprised my daughter every day by making a creative figure of the towels, bedsheets and her stuffed animals. Loved it and made us laugh, every time. Very friendly personnel overall.

Some guests never learn though. Leaving towels at the pool or beach to claim a bed. I hate this. Fortunately it was not busy, so there was always a bed available, but still… it should not be allowed. Two nights were very noisy. Children running down the hall, yelling at 11/12 at night. That’s not normal, but not the hotel’s fault for sure.

Though it’s about a ten minute walk to the center of Kissamos and not really a nice/beautiful neighborhood (lots of construction sites in the area) I would really recommend this nice hotel and would definitely come back here.

The great hotel with so welcome and pleasant staff 😍 there are free umbrellas on the beach and free conditioner inside room. The green territory and very testy breakfast ! Also good plus is their own beach. We took the room with beach view and each morning it was magnificent to notice sunrise 😊

We would probably rate this hotel with 2/5 but the perfect service we received from the front desk clerk deserves an extra "bonus"- he was very friendly and helpful and this was the bright side of the hotel, besides the perfect location right on the beach edge.
We reserved the hotel for only 2 nights in order to be close to Balos beach, and for that it was a good choice, however the hotel itself was a little disappointment: the room was not well maintained- the balcony door could not be locked, the bathroom door was difficult to close, the closet had no shelfs and the room looked old.
The breakfast and dinner were very basic, and due to the Covid situation the way the hotel manage the service was cumbersome and because the service stuff had language issues and also served as the cleaning stuff made the food serving really not user-friendly. to summarize: for the price tag of the hotel (we paid around 160 EUR per night) I would expect a better service and maintenance. some of the drawback are probably related to the covid 19 rules so can be forgiven but still, this hotel does not deserve a rating higher than average, even considering the friendly front desk guy.

The negative: On a recent several week visit to Crete, I stayed in four hotels, and this although the most expensive, had by far the worst service. When I arrived, the man at the desk didn't look me in the eye or welcome me, he just asked for my passport, handed me a key card and gave me no information about the hotel, whether meal times, amenities etc. When I asked if there was a lift, he said "Of course", came out from behind the desk and walked to show me where the lift was. There was no offer to help me with my luggage, so I trundled along behind with a suitcase, rucksack and two bags. When I arrived in my room, the soap dish was hanging off the shower, the loo seat didn't fit and the hairdryer blower in the bathroom had sellotape around it. (All the other hotels provided proper hairdryers which offer far more control when drying hair.) The complimentary toiletries provided were very basic - two make up wipes (again all the other cheaper hotels had provided a proper selection which also looked far more attractive - see photo). The room generally looked tired and in need of some tlc.

In fairness to the hotel, I asked for the loo seat to be replaced and the soap dish to be re-attached to the shower wall, and this was done the very next day.

The positive: The hotel room was large and clean, with a balcony. The restaurant is good, with helpful and friendly waiting staff. And the view from the restaurant is lovely. The hotel pool, although cool, is kept very clean. The hotel is on a stony beach, so you can swim directly in the sea from the hotel (depending on how tender your feet are you might need beach shoes, I used mine.) The hotel breakfast provides a good range of options, apart from a very basic range of tea bags, again I had been offered far more tea choices in other places I stayed.

In short, a few upgrades and improvements to parts of service, would make a huge difference.

From the owners to the entire team at Sunny Bay, my sincere thanks for making my stay a most pleasant one. Traveling alone and last minute can be risky, specially in today’s times. Between the service, the advice on what to see, where to eat and do as a local, I could not have been more pleasantly surprised.
I chose this hotel because of the magnificent location which makes it possible to take single day trips easily, and just 45-minutes away from Chania airport. Little did I know that this family owned and operated hotel would become
my home away from home. Their personal dedication is outstanding!

The hotel is family run and the staff are all fantastic, very helpful and friendly, especially when having to deal with COVID safety at breakfast time considering the language barriers. The hotel itself is of a good standard, very clean and tidy, and the pool was fantastic although very cold! It is situated close to Kissamos with restaurants, cafes and a few shops. The only downside was that we would have liked to have had tea and coffee making facilities in our room. It is situated right on the beach, although the beach is very rocky and we travelled to Falassarna and Elafonisi Beaches which are both absolutely stunning, but a car was definitely needed to get to these. If you are wanting lots of shops and restaurants then we would recommend a 50 min trip to Chania, which had everything.

Great family run hotel in a quiet location next to the beach/sea. Very nice friendly staff, and a high level of service. The pool area and restaurant are newly renovated, and the rest of the hotel is well kept. We enjoyed sitting at breakfast looking at the Mediterranean sea, as well as our room with balcony directly facing the sea. Breakfast is very well assorted and the pool bar is worth a visit. We needed help renting a car, and the manager sorted it for us. If you are looking for a relaxing and quiet place to refuel - this hotel is a good choice.

A good, clean and quite hotel, with wonderful people, right on the private beach, close to the taverns and stores, with fabulos food, bar, great adult and children pool. In the hotel there is a small shop where you can buy sweets, drinks, lotions, ice cream, toys, etc. All the rooms are big and have beautiful views.

Very nice hotel with a super friendly staff. Simple, but you fill find all you need for a great stay. Tasty breakfast and food from the menu for lunch. Not too crowded, so always will find sunbed both by the pool or beach. :)

Dear MrsMayna, You will find restaurants in 10 min walking distance (750m) from Sunny Bay. There is very good a la cart restaurant in the hotel as well, in case you don't want to book a room on half board. So you have plenty of choices.
